There are billions of galaxies each with billions of stars. The universe is ~14 billion years old and earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. That means that an life bearing planet could have existed long before earth was born. Even if this planet had intelligent life 1 billion years b4 us imagine how advanced they'd be!
