He was taught by Yoroichi who was called the flash goddess and high speed is definitely part of his battle tactics, but it has never been stated that he's THE fastest and it is possible that Soifon and/or Yamamoto are faster, but he's definitely one of the fastest.

@johnsw224 i also Assume that Kyouraku is at an at least equal speed than Byakuya. Soifon is definitely faster and Yamamoto to. but you´re right he is still one of the fastest Shinigami. And one of the strongest.

@InfernityZ3r0 I do believe that Soi Fon is faster than Byakuya-Sama, but I think Yoruichi still holds the title of being the fastest of them all. Afterall she is the one who trained them both and taught Byakuya the "Utsusemi/Molting Cicada" shunpo step. Correct me If I am wrong though.

Byakuya must have learned Goukei when he analyzed his own Bankai and found out how many cherry blossoms formed in order to gain that power. When he fought against Renji, Byakuya said that his blades were infinite and that there's no way to know how many there are. At this point, Byakuya now says that there are 100,000,000 blades.

Byakuya Kuchiki is more powerful than Mayuri Kurotsuchi. While Mayuri was able to defeat the 8th Espada without a problem with Bankai, Byakuya used the same level of power to defeat the 7th Espada without a scratch.  Goukei is a very effective method that works the opposite of Senkei. By my understanding, he temporarily maxes out his defense to surround the enemy and then uses it as a most powerful attack and defense combo. I wonder if Kenpachi Zaraki could surpass that.

@MONOPOLY35 bull shit. What does their fights against the espada have to do with their strength relative to each other. They were very easy fights for the both of them. Personally, I think in a fight between the two of them, Kurotsuchi would win because of his pesky ability of not being able to die. And aside from that, even though his bankai is pretty much a sack of shit, he's more of a calculating fighter and I'm sure he would have already figured out ways to counter Byakuya's bankai.

and in my opinion the one who suffered the most brutal death was either this Arrancar who went up against Byakuya or the one that went against Kurotsuchi because Syzael or however you spell his name, suffered a long long long very long time because of the superhuman drug that he accidently took in by using Nemus body to resurrect himself, also an ignorant move causing his own death between the 2 its a tie but i wouldnt say the black guy suffered the most other Arrancar suffered that bad as well
