Yeah, the road traffic is actually scenery and clips right through the train meshes. You will also notice that sometimes they will stop at a crossing while on the track, and the train goes right though them. Just once I'd like to ram a stalled vehicle and send it bounding into the next county.
This could happen in real life not those crappy wall vs train crashes

MSTS's collision model didn't include road traffic, so they would 'ghost' through the consists. This may change with MSTS2.
