  • if you havn't got it by now and you want one good bucket and one with a hole in the bottom. Drill a small hole (1/2"-1" in size) and spray carb cleaner in the hole for a few seconds (like 10 or so maybe more if it doesn;t go the first time try with more carb cleaner) and make a small trail on the bottom of the bucket and lite the trail on fire. It will burn the carb cleaner into the hole and go BOOM so make sure as soon as you light it you run away and it should launch the bucket into the air.

  • that's a lot of blue ice!

  • Maybe the buckets have decided that they aught to stick together just in case you decide to croon again. ;O) I say stick with it... it will be satisfying (if nothing else) to get those stubborn buckets separated.

  • I find this hilarious. it would be so satisfying to get those apart,, I have been there too!

    I like the enamel sink.

    Hey! those are different buckets!

  • Shhhh, we'll just keep it between ourselves that those are different buckets, LOL.

I love my enameled sink too. It's pretty old and is getting a bit worn but it's still got some life left in it. I love how the well on the left where I was fooling around with the bucket it extra deep. Also it has a sliding cover on top that you slide back and forth between the two sides.

  • Those are the perfect size for trying those trashcan potatoes.. I think ill try that this year. I hope you didnt throw the old ones out, i have abad hankering, to still try and get them apart!!! haha

  • I've still got them!!! Hmmm, my compost from this past summer would be perfect for some sort of trashcan potatoes I'd think. I've thought about it before but never really figured I'd get enough potatoes to be worth the effort but I noticed that BradThunder seemed to get quite a few potatoes this fall out of a container of some sort.

  • Next time, fill the top bucket with hot water and drop in about three pounds of dry ice. Dry ice is only about $3.50 a pound, so it's only slightly more expensive than throwing the buckets away and buying new ones. It won't actually help get them apart, but you'll have to admit that dry ice in hot water is pretty cool.

  • You can also drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom bucket, spray some hair spray in the hole for about 5 seconds, then use a fireplace lighter to ignite the propellant from the hairspray. Let cousin Cletus light it though. He's a twin, so you'll have a spare in case something goes wrong.

If all goes well, you can sing a little song about the hole in the bucket.

  • Yet another interesting idea!!! Or maybe I'll just be lazy and chunk a couple of cherry bombs in there. Ahhh the classics never die, LOL.

  • There's no denying that dry ice in water is UBER cool. Maybe I can think of a video which requires a bubbling cauldren of sorts so I can at least partially justify the cost, LOL.

  • Damm......I hate when dat happens!!!!!!

  • Sometimes life just plain sucks:)

  • Nice paint job :)

  • Thanks Andy! No one can hold a bucket to me when it comes to painting:)

  • hahaha! Nice paint job! :-)

Good luck in the contest! :-)

  • Thanks Caylyn! I'm sure with several entries Ive diluted my chances of winning but it's of course fun to showcase my crazy side from time to time, LOL.

  • Whoda thunk that watching someone separate buckets could be so entertaining? LOL

You did an excellent job of restoring those old buckets once you finally did get them apart ;-)

  • I'm very handy with a paintbrush. Heck once here on YouTube I even did some painting with my hair, LOL.

  • Put them on their side and apply gentle pressure while rolling them back and forward. Then hit them with a sledgehammer.

  • The sledgehammer idea is looking pretty appealing!!! Or I could see if I could get another bucket stuck in there and do a video called "The 3 Bucketeers" :)

  • The video kept me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen. Sucks when the physics don't do what they are supposed to - lol.

  • I'll bet Einstein never had this problem, LOL.

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • Hiya Mikma!!!

  • The only way I can see of seperating them is to put tiny holes in each one. Of course ...they won't be good for much afterwards...

    hugs, Chris

  • I think there's an old song that goes, "my bucket's got a hole in it", LOL.

I might give things another try one of these days but it'll be something simple. I've already spent far more time on them than they're worth. (((Hugs)))

  • I cracked up when you spilled the water and said Shit, because you sounded like me when something like that happens.

  • I think if I had cussed a little bit harder and tossed out a few F-bombs I could have gotten those two buckets apart, LOL.

  • i had the same problem a week and a half ago. after 10 min i gave up someone else tried an hour later worked at it for 30 min and got them apart how? screwdrivers hammers and luck i thought it was impossible

  • These are old enough to be a little on the brittle side. I'm going to mess around with them a little more. I'll probably wind up accidentally busting one.

    Congrats on your successfull bucket

    de-stuckification!!!

  • Nice advertisement for Lowes Home Improvement :-) Just a thought on the two stuck buckets... Maybe if you try drilling two holes in the bottom of either of the buckets it might release the suction? Although one bucket would be useless and you have two new buckets now so who cares right? LOL!

  • I think the Lowe's buckets were only about 3 bucks each so they're pretty cheap. Still they're the first 5 gallon buckets I've ever bought in a store. Usually I've always had a spare bucket that some other product came in but I guess I haven't done any projects lately.

A hole drilled higher up on one of the buckets *might* still relieve an air lock while rendering it only proportionally useless for holding liquids.

  • Besides the vacuum thing is it possible the lower bucket had some residue of something which had adhessive propreties?

You are getting pretty tough to beat... contest wise...

    Wonderful YouTube's Dumbest Video Submission!!!

    Good Luck on the voting...

  • These buckets had been around a while and been used many times separately so I doubt they had anything more on them than dirt. It's of course not worth going through the hot/cold hassle again. I was mainly just curious if something like that would work. I will however try WD-40 or either drilling a hole or wedging something to see if that helps.

I'm sure I'm probably just diluting my chances of winning with the multiple entries:) PetuniaBelle is suggesting I enter my hair painting vid as well

  • if the space between them is air tight it may be impossible to separate them without damage. if thats the case, you can make a hole in one of them or try to wedge something on the side between them, anything to break the seal and let the air in. beyond that, cant think of more.

  • Good suggestion! Someone else also said that I should have tried twisting them instead of pulling them straight apart which was also a good idea.

  • For all that frustration, I would just set em on fire!

  • They deserve to be set on fire.... or run over with a truck, LOL.

  • I say set them on fire! lol That's probably pretty extreme huh? ;)

  • They deserve to be set on fire. I feel them mocking me still.

  • Do you have any WD40 around???? that may work

  • I'll have to give that a try. I've got some around here somewhere.

  • Old buckets can be just like dogs in heat...

  • LOL, I'd hate to try and separate a couple of joined together pit bulls!!!

  • Magic!!!!!!! Messy magic, but spectacular nonetheless! Thanks for the laughs.

  • I don't think I cussed enough. If I had used the F word and theaten them a time or two I'm sure they would have come apart, LOL.

  • Oh of course - if you ever need any help with swearing, I am highly qualified and would be happy to assist you!

  • Do you realize that we all sat here watching this video WILLING those buckets to pull apart! I even forgot to breathe at one point LOL!

  • Wow, I didn't realize it was such a cliffhanger, LOL. I guess I just needed a few more subscribers and the combined force of all that will would surely have popped them right apart!

  • I wish you would also submit for the video contest the one from a long long time ago where you painted with condiments with your hair. That is by far one of the best crazy videos ever. :)

  • Yep, that one was pretty crazy. I might just do that.

  • Actually when I checked my videos the painting on was a video reply to PaintedRavensong and I've always kinda hated shuffling video replies around. Sometimes I'll do it but I kinda like leaving them with the original person I responded to.

  • Maybe you should have said "Abracadabra" or

    maybe "Shazam."

And see, another thing is you said those two buckets were destined to be together, so they must be soul mates and should not be separated. So, a happy ending and new buckets to boot.

    :)

  • What time and friction has joined together, let no man pull and plunder..... or something like that:)

  • I hate when that happens...LOL!! Blessings, Ang

  • It really can just mess up the whole day, LOL.

  • you gotta twist them.

  • Hmmm, that's actually a really good suggestion!!! I wish I had thought of it at the time. Grrrrr.

  • I was going to suggest a chainsaw and maybe some explosives but your way was clearly the more logical.

    WELL DONE!

    :-D

  • I should probably do a follow up video called, "Running over stuck together buckets with a truck", LOL.

  • glad to see you prevailed over the forces of nature and PVC.

  • And all it took was a little ingenuity and a few bucks, LOL.

  • a big plastic hammer most likely will do the job

  • I actually did think of that and I do have a rubber hammer. I couldn't find it at the time though. I think it would have worked then but I'm not so sure it would work with the buckets being at room temperature though and I don't really want to go through the hot and cold thing again.

  • Most educational. I think you need a spare pair of hands - next time may the fours be with you!

  • Maybe a light saber would get them apart:)))

  • may make light work of it yes - if not it woudl look impressive!

  • MrRandomWritings, LOL "may the fours be with you!" I SO appreciate a punny comment :O)

  • 2:46

  • I had to get out th mop two or three different times, LOL.

  • Hahaha! That was funny!

  • Yayyyy, brand new buckets!!! (I find joy in the simple things:)

  • lol :D

  • My two new buckets just scream quality:)

  • do you need some help?

    xoexo

  • A wench would really be useful.... I mean a winch would really be useful, LOL.

  • LOL haha i love the ending

  • All it took was a trip to the store to get them apart, LOL.

  • hahaha

  • uhhh ... I don't think plastic responds to heat and cold the same way metal and glass do ... but I'm glad to see you got some new buckets -- lol!

  • Looks like it would have to respond just a teeny tiny bit, but if so, it must REALLY be a teeny tiny bit. I was 100% certain they would come apart. I need to employ you as technical advisor on my videos, LOL. Oh well they weren't in the best of shape anyway. The new buckets are fantastic looking. My first store bought 5 gallon buckets. I feel downright decadent, LOL.

  • yeah, I had some plastic cups stuck together once and had a devil of a time separating them -- and they were way more flexible and smaller than the buckets. I think it's some kind of vacuum thing ... but maybe there's a plastics genius out there who can splain it to us, Lucy -- LOL!
