  • it might be too much to ask but could you do a seperate tutorial for the messhugga/gojira style vocal? cos thats one i really want to do

  • Hey man do know how to keep a growl going without running out of air to quickly thats a problem I have I might just being it wrong. Oh by any chance do you know how to do brutal death metal vocals Im trying get those down as well. Thanks man great video!

  • the second one is kinda like lamb of god's singing?

  • I can get the low growl if I have a lot of spit or phlegm in my throat, is that cheating? Otherwise I can only get this really airy sound.

  • @GregTehGoose Nope, growling should be without phlegm and still sound guttural. Check out Blixish's tutorials, they're great. Search for "Blixish FAQ distortion", best video availible on the topic. This video is good, but the best explaination is the fry scream one around 3:33.

  • I can do beast growls, but only one kind, I want a variety. Any tips on putting "oomph" and getting lower with growls once you learn them?

  • @onemanarmy675 play around with your tongue placement, sounds stupid but putting your tongue on the roof of your mouth while you growl makes a pretty brutal sound. pushing with your diaphragm, and practice will get you what you want.

  • @supershiva11 Yeah I know the tongue technique, that's what I've been using. And thanks for replying!

  • @onemanarmy675 for sure man. just keep working with it, also is your voice high pitched? like, singing/speaking?

  • @supershiva11 Not anymore, it was like a year ago. I've been practicing a total of a year.

  • @onemanarmy675 fosho mang. I've been doing vox for about 2 years now and let me tell you haha, my vocals have gotten SO MUCH more brutal lately. Only tips i can give are to try to imitate other singers, i know that sounds stupid and like 'copying' but once youve successfully replicated 20 growlers you will have a very unique sound.

  • @onemanarmy675 If you put your tongue up and touch the top of your mouth you can get a really deep sounds

  • i had a toselectomy when I was 6 do you think that has any effect on my voice because I follwoed what you said but my throat still hurts

  • @Pryce2112 *tonselectomy

  • @Pryce2112 It takes practise. You may feel itching to begin with, but if you improve your technique it'll go away.

  • good vocals still workign on mine i have it but needs work

  • algun tutorial en español my friend ??

    :D ?

    please

  • am screamin to my computer screen... is this normal?

  • dude.. make you look like death metal vocalist not like JustinBeaber.. whan a unrespect to music.. you suck ; ]

  • @katinara Shut up, he's an amazing vocalist, he looks nothing like Justin Bieber

  • @katinara You're a fucking idiot if you think you have to look a certain way to "be metal". Stupid fucking cunt.

  • Pisser!

  • U do look like ian from smosh ( i love smosh)

  • You look like Ian from Smosh.

  • Hey man! I know how to use vocal MESHUGGA, but over time begins to fail! any tips?

  • @Spencerboy1234 The same thing happened to me for a while, it's a matter of diaphragm control. If you thrash your throat, you wont be able to produce the same sound anymore. The power of your voice needs to be in the diaphragm, and NOT your throat, though you sound like you are screaming, you need to learn to push from your chest area, and below that, and not from the throat or else your endurance will be horrid.

  • is that the fry-technic that you use???

  • @wackenhead92 yeah, though i use that technique a lot less now

  • can you do another black metal vocal tutorial?

  • Funny he talkss about danni filth

all what he dos is with effects:P

he cant sing black he use onley effects so if you can do it without effects you are good. but Danni use Effects. Trust me it is on there offical site.

    Cheers!

  • I cant sing death meta vocals

onle black XD is that strange? (and depressive black like silencer)

    Cheers!

  • This really helped thanks :D

  • I have been practicing metal vocals but after im done my throat always feels kind of scratchy. Is that normal?

  • @96fubar

    no thats not normal

you get that because you sings from your trought

you have to sing from your belly. so push the air from your belly up to your trought but dont force it

it is a matter of practice. dont really know how to explain it but if you get pain Try your vocal cords to tighten

    Cheers!

  • Sick tutorial. Been trying to learn this way of singing for a while.

  • SOngs LIst !! Where IS!!!! D:

  • @sjtapia93 bloodbath - eaten, meshuggah - bleed, windir - destroy, enfold darkness - the benefits of your demise

  • @supershiva11 Thanks DUDE :D :D:D \m/!!

  • @supershiva11

where is the song from windir?

    you dident sing windir.

    but nice film mate:)

but you are better than danni:P danni filth use effects

so you beat him in his own vocals XD

    Cheers!

  • What the song at 7:55?

  • Fry highs and growling lows. Awesome!

  • Genial!!pero es muy dificil!!

  • Your black metal vocals sound like sceamo to me but I realm lot enjoyed your death metal vocals that was legit. The problem is when you do the black metal it's not quite in range to my opinion and you might want to use your upper diaphragm since it's centered below youre rib cage

  • @VampyreBytch you're right on both accounts. since this video ive grown exponentially in the vocal department, and i only use those fry screams shown in this video for effect, or for power fry screams with a scream like meshuggah, devin townsend, or gojira. Other than that i have a much nicer black metal vocal style now, and even my growls have gotten a lot better. thank you for the advice!

  • good song you picked!

  • this is really cool and im definatly going to try it out

  • You're doing them wrong man.

You're using your throat too much and your diaphragm isn't where you said it is, it's right below your rib cage.

  • what is the 3rd song?

  • dude you have awesome vocals!!

  • you look like ian from smosh haha

  • Eder en vil att douche brystduken

  • Lol i have been looking up a shit load of tutorial videos... mainly because i'm paranoid i'll ruin my voice permanently.

    Nice tutorial!

  • @ChinoMoreno4life i really wouldnt worry about it, i mean ive only been doing it for about a year, less than that for this video, but i mean since then my voice has been unnaffected.. i sing as well and ive only improved.

  • @XVargulfX hell yes! rip valfar

  • Thanks alot for that. Its tricky for me to get it down.

  • i like your lows ..im trying to sound like deathand at the gates i like thos singers o and Cattle Decapitation i love tjos singers buti hutr after some time wana not hurt as quick...really like your lows man

  • @admiral8toes The pain will go away with time, think of it like working out a muscle. At first, youll be sore all day, and the more you do it the easier it becomes on your body.

  • @supershiva11 yeah i di a lil every day lol you in a band if u r id kisten cuz u got a great voice

  • @admiral8toes thanks a lot! I currently like to do a bit with friends, and some writing on my own. If i ever finish anything ill be sure to put it up here.

  • @supershiva11 hell yeah man

  • i laughed soo hard when you were like PUSH

  • @JeffHardyFreak98 hehehahha, pregnant womenz

  • The Dre Can scream better than you without the lukewarm water, you mushroom!!

  • @im0mole A) i dont drink the lukewarm water anymore, it just helped the pain at first

    B) who the fuck is the Dre

    C) deathcore fucking sucks.

  • @supershiva11 really? you don't like deathcore? lol i never seen a metalhead that likes death metal/black metal but doesn't like deathcore xD.i like deathcore such as job for a cowboy.

  • @zeldaplayer15 ah, not a fan of core genres. I like after the burial, and heaven shall burn though

  • @zeldaplayer15 I've never seen a real metalhead like deathcore.

  • Great vid dude, I've been trying to nail Gojira and Meshuggah vocals for ages now, but I think I've been using more of a power fry technique, which means I can't do lows at all. But you're using false cord right? This vid will def help me switch techniques if thats the case. Impressive array of different screams you got there btw.

  • @JackoThe1st power fry is pretty close to what gojira and meshuggah use actually, but its hard as fuck to get lows haha, as youve said. power fry singers are like phil anselmo (pantera) and randy blythe (lamb of god). Meshuggah and gojira are really screamers man, you its kinda like the power fry but with a pitch based yell behind it to give it even more umph. Ive got a cover of a gojira song on here (ocean planet) and i can tell you, i still havent perfected his vocals haha, its hard.

  • @supershiva11 Your Ocean Planet cover sounds VERY close to the original. I'm just gonna try to imitate your scream from now on lol since you sound more like Joe than anyone else on the Tube.

  • @JackoThe1st haha thank you, im honored. I try to be like joe and do guitar and vocals at the same time.... god damn man, its so hard. A big hint i have for his vocals is to not be afraid to be loud. He's yelling when he does vocals, and you gotta be loud to imitate it. simple, but with practice very effective.

  • i was waiting for a black metal voice like neige, from mortifera, peste noire and alcest...

  • I've been screaming and doing other vocals for about a year, and your the only one that finally explains how to do the highs that way. Good video. i do a different type of high it the same technique as the low just opening my mouth more its a bit more brutal than the highs ur doing but i guess its just the style. well anyway good job keep it up lol

  • @WooowWeirdo yeah man i know of those types of highs. I do those when i do vocals for bands like kalmah, a few black metal bands too, as it sounds more wet and natural than raspy and airy. Both are great techniques.

  • I see bunk beds!
