@314asa it might be inside your ear, try strong decongestants like sudafed to unblock everything. You might also have an ear infection. If you ear seems to unblock if you hold your nose and blow, this means you need the sudafed!

Well done, but I can do that in 20 seconds. I clean out ears all the time.

A cotton tip can be pulled out easily with a plier device.

Wax can be "rolled out" or scooped out with curette (loop tool).

There are specialised loop tools with self contained lights on them.

Also long tools are dangerous as there is less control and a bump or slip can cause serious injury.

Ear specialists in first world countries now recommend that you DO NOT WASH or CLEAN your ears. The natural wax and oils self clean.

In the case of people like me with surfers ear where cold water surfing has closed the canal up some then the occassional shooting of warm water tea tree oil can be nescessary to get sand etc out. That's it

@lozdamo It can be really bad if badly done, done too often or if you don't need it. If I don't clean my ears I get too much wax and can't hear anything. If they are blocked you can also get infections easily. The best way is to have it done by someone who knows what he's doing, because people tend to simply push the wax deeper into large piles, cause more wax to be made or risk damaging their eardrums.

@lozdamo It depends. If you have normal wax it's better to not clean them. If you have lots of wax like I do, it's better to clean them one way or another. I usually get them checked once a year. The best way is to have it done by a doctor.

Also depends where you come from, Asians tend to have very dry earwax where's Europeans have moist earwax the buildup of wax has so many factors connected but couldn't find a satisfatory answer on the net on build up.

I also know it feels teriffic when I get my ears cleaned like this.

Having a Korean mother, she used to clean my ears as a child. She used a thin piece of metal that was like a super small spoon that would scoop out the ear wax. I find ear cleaning more suited to Asians, however, due to our hard earwax. We tend to get a lot more buildup than most. But on a side note, I do enjoy the feeling of getting my ears cleaned. The light scratching of the ears feels wonderful.

Immediately get tweezers and remove the cotton. If you leave that cotton inside, it's likely you will have a ear canal itch.
