Our family visited many times in Desert Hot Springs when my inlaws were still alive. We really enjoyed the area. There were naturally-source hot tubs and pools in the mobile village where they lived. For a change of pace, we'd go across the freeway to Palm Springs and spend some time in the shadows of that tall peak. Palm Canyon was a blast. That whole area is different from anyplace else. I don't ever recall seeing water in the river, though. Thanks for the vid.
@Straycurrent I love the low desert. Palm Canyon is unique. Occasionally, I'd drive down there (after finishing up with work) if I saw storm clouds gathering in the area. Driving out of the valley on Hwy 111 was more pleasant than I-10. Just thinking about it, I'm in the mood for a date shake from Hadley's.
@dizziedallas The low desert was my 'home' when the building boom was going on. I've worked all over SoCal, but the Coachella Valley is my favorite place. Next time you're in that neck of the woods, stop down at Hadley's. Date shake and an ostrich burger. Good times. Their Wall of Fame is pretty cool, too.
@chopperguy2 I don't 'de-compress' as often as I should. California has a high stress atmosphere. I appreciate the sunrises more than most, I suspect. I know you guys in the Midwest are hurtin' after this latest blizzard. I didn't post this video to 'rub it in'. Just wanted folks to see that warmer weather is on the way and there are good things to look forward to. I hope you and yours are doing well.
I'd be down there with a shovel and 5 gal buckets collecting 'material' to pan in the privacy of my basement. Gold gold gold gold gold fe fe fe fa fa fa.
@FilterChanger I never thought about looking for gold there. Come to think of it, I've noticed shiny specks in the sand in the desert that might be gold.
@PutSome5tankOnIt I've collected bunches of buckets around here without a speck. I'm west of the Virginia gold belt, but there were a couple prospects and mines in neighboring counties. Black sand is pretty useless, but I'm getting a pretty good collection.
@FilterChanger I need to look into prospecting a bit more. I've heard of folks panning for gold up in Lytle Creek, but not in the low desert. Calico (way up in the high desert, north of me) is an old abandoned prospecting town. There is black sand around here. It sticks to my pocket magnet if I drop it on the ground.
@fritzhvac I'd love to head west and prospect a bit. There are other factors in play. My wife wants to go back to Owensboro, and my son's joined the Boston Metro Opera company. Being tugged in many different ways.
@FilterChanger Man to cool , congratulations to yall !!!
That is very prestigious !!!
I bet you and your wife are beyond proud !!!
Yea I remember talking to ya about the Owensboro trip , I could tell then you really wanted to head west instead !!! LOL ...
It's rough being pulled in several directions my friend , Owensboro will be here waiting on ya , we have the festival every year, and the west ain't going no where !!!
Boston Metro Opera , sounds like once in a lifetime Brother !!!
@itscool1968 Jim mentioned my channel in one of his videos. Views and subscriptions skyrocketed. Posting 'thank-yous' on new subscriber channels only takes a few minutes per day, but it's a 'problem' that lots of YouTubers would like to have.
@V8Jagnut It's municipal property and there's risk of injury if you go near the rocks and water. The city has to post those signs because of the legal liability. Lots of folks can be seen down there in the summer cooling off.
Well you can count on one thing, I will ALWAYS watch your videos! Nice one! I usually don't get up before sunrise, so it was nice to see it today. Thanks. LOL!!

@bobbyton80 The grafitti mucks things up. Other than that, it's really a beautiful place to stop down and soak your feet.

@84randomdude Watching the sun come up is never overrated. Sometimes, the entire sky is orange and blue with a few white clouds over the desert.

@PutSome5tankOnIt Yep. Your right.
