Good call on Shogun!! Been watching your vids for some time and I like how you analyze the fighters. Most people just try to justify why their favorite fighter is going to win or they buy into what everyone else says. Keep it up!!
you are the biggest goon in the world man.get a life. i was searching something and your video came up. i guess that plaid comforter summs up you the best....
I am new to MMA. Can someone please explain to me how the guard (on the ground) works? Closed guard, open guard, rubber guard? Advantages/disadvantages? Which one is best for submission attempts?
closed guard is keep someone from passing into side control, mount, or north south position
Opening your guard gives u better chances for submissions but also allows opportunities for someone to pass your guard into dominate positions
rubber guard can be very effective for both keeping someone from passing and setting up submissions but you have to be very flexible to work the rubber guard effectively Aoki may be the best at it in MMA
Thanks. So on the close guard you wrap your legs around your opponent to prevent him from passing, on the open guard you open your legs so that he'll move to side control (etc.) in a chance to catch him with a submission. How does the rubber guard look like? How are the legs placed in a rubber guard?
Rubber guard is where you grab, say, your right foot with your left hand so that your calf lays across the back of your opponent's neck. Takes a lot of flexibility and can really be uncomfortable if you're stuck in there.
Vicioussid explained it nicely. Incidentally, the full guard has no place in a no holds barred fight. In Krav Maga, I would simply smash your groin, knee your groin, etc -- and put you in a world of hurt. However, the full guard in jiu jitsu allows you to control your opponents hips. Half guard allows for less control and the full mount means you really can't control your opponents hips and makes it virtually impossible to implement submissions.
What's the advantage of using a rubber guard then? I thought the full guard was the most powerful ground position you could have in MMA. I guess you are an advocate for knees to the head of a downed opponent to be brought back to the UFC/USAMMA, so am I.
i like the predictions but how can you say that chuck has inferior ground game you havent ever seen it! and where exactley are chucks stamina issues. he went the distance with jardine and silva other than that though it was solid. (chuck ko 1st rond)
i think silva should move up 2 heavy weight .and fedor should sighn 2 ufc n they should fight cause in my opinion they are the 2 top mma fighters in the world
I agree with almost everything you say... BUT... the remark about Leites and Silva. Leites has a great, great ground game that IMO surpasses Silva's by a lot. I think if he can get it to the ground with lots of time left in a round, Leites will win by submission. That said, I'm predicting Silva KO in the first. :)
I think the Coleman fight was Shogun's first standing KO victory. No way he gets two in a row, especially in the 2nd round when it took him 3 rounds to KO Mark "The Standing Target" Coleman. Even that stoppage was questionable. Shogun doesn not hit hard at all. Chuck will counter and knock him out...he's not facing a dangerous counter striker like Evans or Jackson. Shootbox fighters like to press the action and that is exactly the type of fighters Chuck knocks out.
the point i was trying to make was those were heath biggest weapon's but now he cant use them if u can knee a knee in the stand up why not on the ground?
Besides the point, dude said if knees were allowed Heath would have finished Kongo, when Kongo was the one who had the opportunity to deliver knees first
shogun hit his prime young. he's got nothing to offer anymore. showed no heart in the coleman fight. who COULDN'T KO Colman in that fight. lol his hands were @ his waiste, for christ sake. Liddell has better cardio and signifigantly harder punches. He will TKO Shogun in the 2nd rnd.
IDK if he was juiced, he's currently having personal issues, or he simply hit his prime young. Either way he's not even a shadow of what he was. Though i do find it interesting that he wen't from being a 170lb welterweight in Brazil to being a 210lb middleweight in Japan in 1 year. [not saying anything] lol but 40lbs of muscle in 1 year? iv' never heard of anybody adding that much muscle in that amount of time even ON steroids. lol
Jeffwads fighters are so dumb and primitive in Brazil they don't know how to cycle. People have been caught Juicing in the UFC so fighters obviously juice there and not only in Pride. Hermes, Bonnar, Sherk, etc have all been caught but for Shogun you have no proof. What Made Shogun so great was his dynamic striking and natural abilities. The Juice doesn't rank you at number one just ask Bonnar and the others. Shogun has great techniques even if he lacks good hands he makes up with versatility.
condit is coming over and is headlining the fight night against kampmann. i think you should start doing vids for the fight nights they are happening more frequently now and the cards are better.
Comments don't seem to be working here. Strange. Excellent analysis as always. I agree with everything said here. If Liddell goes for takedowns, it could change everything for him. He's a great wrestler, so why not?

In the Herring fight, Kongo actually got Heath down first and was in position to deliver knees to the head.

I wonder what will happen to Chuck if he loses. Dana has said that Chuck needs to impress him in this fight. I can't see the UFC cutting Liddell.
