haha. during tryouts, the dude who was running the tryouts decided that he was gonna put everyone who didn't try out for snare/tenor/log on cymbals. but i don't think it's 27 cymbals anymore, more like 11 now. most of them aren't showing up at the rehearsals
kinda. one is a college student who's playing for DCI, that's what someone said...and that since she's in the mainland right now she cant come, and that one is just too lazy to show up for practice. 2 have showed up at our most recent practice, but only that one bass drum who shows up consistantly stayed for the whole practice, the other bass drummer left early.
haha. i go to Damien. I don't think you realize who i am. lol. always see me with Tony at practices. haha. you bit my shako at Kam Tournament 2 years ago. lol
I think that is the LA unified District band I believe. I remember my friend whom was apart of HASMB that year said, they had some "run-ins" with the LA band over there.
Nevertheless, the crowd loved it. You were all awesome. That year I watched the parade 6 times, but only to see HASMB. You guys were 15 minutes into the parade. The Best!
oh my gosh, THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!! I haven't been able to get a hold of any video recordings of these performances. do you mind if i convert them and put them on my ipod?
Question; what year? HASMB was in the 2008, along with Puerto Rico (my island) once again. But the 2002 group was the BOMB! 2008 wasn't that great. Curious. Let me know.
Can you tell me what are the titles of the tunes they're playing? It's hard to believe these are all H.S. Kids. You must be very proud to have been a part of it all.
this HASMB was organized by Kamehameha Schools Kapalama band director John Riggle but i don't think he had anything to do with the dvd. i don't know who made it.
there was an official(unofficial?) trip dvd that was supposed to be available to all HASMB members but i guess correspondance to my school's participants never happened. my friend managed to get one. i still have yet to see it.
THANK YOU!!! I saw this band perform @ Bandfest. I was SO FREAKIN impressed! They were the best that year. I attempted to obtain a video of their performance, to no avail. I called Hawaii numerous times, but never got a response. If you have access to a video/DVD of their performance, please let me know. They were the ABSOLUTE BEST of ALL the bands that year.
for the Macy's band i think they should've stuck with the different colored uniforms like Rose Parade...well, that might pose a problem with the show routine though...
Part of this year's one... came to figure out masese =D

Is there any way to get a copy? Maybe the name of a school, and or Band Director? When I saw this posted, I yelled "YES"! This band was outstanding.
