it has piezo pickups on the bridge that process the sound of each string separately. the overdrive&distortion don't come from the guitar. the guitar produces nice, regular clean sounds.
i didn't know what to buy when i bought mine, and i didnt have a lot of money to buy a great guitar...i thought i coulnt go wrong with this one. i was right! i love it and i'm not planning on selling it! you really get to know different guitar tones with this thing..
does palm muting and harmonics sound like they should? (especially when using the workbench software to detune it) i fancy getting a variax but i havent seen either of those shown in any demo... cheers
I wonder the same things, I plan to Buy a Variax 600 and POD x3 Live with my tax refund. I play everything from Metal, to Blues, To Country to HIGHLY Experimental fare. If anybody knows please tell us

which is great, meant fro playing through your PC.
for us guys, who are willing to spend $300, to practice at home with all the effects, no chunky amplifiers and great sound.

Wait...I'm confused, is this tone just from the variax or is it a variax plus an overdrive/distortion pedal?
