When you hear all the smart phone audio uploads, it can make the band look bad. I love what your doing. And Dream theater can come 98% close to actual timing live. This makes the band look even better. Kudos bro, Tman!......
Why do I have a strange feeling this is the real track and not a live recording? Maybe its just too good, or a very good fake. Hmm.. There is complete consistency with the music and no marginal live error, no fans screaming or anything and shit.. the only weird thing is that theres a hint of vocal delay. Good job editing though. :D
Maybe you should read the title of this video (on top of this page or at the beginning of the video itself) or the description of the video. It clearly says that the audio comes from the studio (CD) track. :-)
@Cineiga So, what was the extent of your work in producing this video? You took the work of those that bootlegged the live DT concert footage and uploaded it over Dream Theater's original soundtrack...The video looks and sounds great BUT you did very little in producing either aspect of this video yourself...
@bobhilbri My work consisted in taking 9 different tracks, choose where to cut to a different angle and for how long, think of what to show and what to hide (like when Mangini or Petrucci make some movements that don't match with the studio track), synchronize the footage with the audio (DT are great at reproducing the studio version, but sometimes make some changes or play a bit slower or faster)...
It's called editing, and it's not better or worse than shooting, but it takes way more time.
Excellent work on the part of the poster and of course a never ending barrage of brilliance from the most innovative band in history! Their talent is hard to comprehend even for someone who has played professionally all their life (as in opening for Frank Zappa, Vanilla Fudge etc.)
Nice directing work, Cineiga ! Can't quite believe just how note perfect Mangini's playing is compared to the album version. Easily the best song on the album and one of DT's best for a while.
Wow Mangini is incredible. I really dont think their could have been a better replacement for Portnoy. He puts a whole new flare and style to already great music. Lovin It..
I'm counting the days!! On February 21 the DT will do a concert in Milan (Italy) !!! I'm looking forward! :) the best Christmas gift I ever received from my boy: two tickets for my favourite band!! :)
@danielopazo9 Sorry, man, but no, I will not do that. The video quality of fan's footage is good, but the audio quality is bad. I wanted to do something like a music video, and not a real video bootleg.
¿podrias hacerlo? felicitaciones, y a mis favoritos.
I don't know if I'm the first to have this idea, but it's something that became possible only recently, thanks to the diffusion of smart phones with HD video-cameras.
Why I've used the studio track? Because if the quality of the video is good and sometimes really good, the audio quality of a live concert taken with a phone is still very poor.
Te felicito! hay un pequeño desfasaje (los videos están un poco adelantado a la música) pero es imperceptible. Te felicito por el trabajo que te tomaste en hacerlo!
Dude. You really re-created the moment! I really liked the ability to see what it was like to see the same performance from different parts of the venue. The folks further back were really treated to a great light show. Thanks for having me be "one of your cameramen".
