I will answer number 3. No, I did not vote for Barack Obama, and no, I have no more hope than I did during the Bush administration. In fact, I have even less. I know I may sound cynical, but I've come to think of the Bush/Obama shift as a setup/spike metaphor. Bush was able to erode many of our civil liberties but not able to act on it because of his unpopularity. Obama WILL be able to act on these new powers simply because he has a major crisis AND massive popularity. I DO hope that I'm wrong.

I used to drink bottled water because the tap water I had tested in my neighborhood high overly high concentrations of iron that can damage kidney's. I now have a filter attached to my sink that makes it far cheaper and more convienent.

People like being able to buy a drink and throw their disposable containers away. I have to admit, it's healthier than soda. If I'm going to stop for a quick drink and pay for it, I'd really rather drink water than high-fructose corn syrup.
I maintain that bottled water is more about convenience than anything else. It's certainly not about quality: bottled water is "regulated" by the FDA, not the EPA, which doesn't put nearly the resources into verifying water quality and doesn't even hold the same stringent standards for it as the EPA does.
I was blissfully complacent until about three days later just because the idea of a McCain-Palin administration gave me the heebie jeebies. The press conference Friday and subsequent chatter afterward was pretty disappointing and even nauseating.

I will answer number 3. No, I did not vote for Barack Obama, and no, I have no more hope than I did during the Bush administration. In fact, I have even less. I know I may sound cynical, but I've come to think of the Bush/Obama shift as a setup/spike metaphor. Bush was able to erode many of our civil liberties but not able to act on it because of his unpopularity. Obama WILL be able to act on these new powers simply because he has a major crisis AND massive popularity. I DO hope that I'm wrong.

I used to drink bottled water because the tap water I had tested in my neighborhood high overly high concentrations of iron that can damage kidney's. I now have a filter attached to my sink that makes it far cheaper and more convienent.

People like being able to buy a drink and throw their disposable containers away. I have to admit, it's healthier than soda. If I'm going to stop for a quick drink and pay for it, I'd really rather drink water than high-fructose corn syrup.

I maintain that bottled water is more about convenience than anything else. It's certainly not about quality: bottled water is "regulated" by the FDA, not the EPA, which doesn't put nearly the resources into verifying water quality and doesn't even hold the same stringent standards for it as the EPA does.

I was blissfully complacent until about three days later just because the idea of a McCain-Palin administration gave me the heebie jeebies. The press conference Friday and subsequent chatter afterward was pretty disappointing and even nauseating.

the top reason why i voted for barack was because he, as an intelligent, well spoken human being, can bring change to the war, economy, justice, and the way we live as Americans. he has opened eyes and turned heads with his historic campaign and election, and he will continue due to so as our president. the leader of the "free world"...and he's black...i think its a positive change, but until everyone sees AND believes that, it will be a rocky road.

During the Bush administration, USA has started to notice the civil wars and have tried to talk some sence to some African leaders but to no avail. I predict that the Obama administration will send troops to one or more African country/ies to end civil wars/genocides.

1) I think I almost would have preferred McCain. Then, at least, it would be evident how fucked we are right now. Obama is able to hide behind a facade of change. Consequently, all of the suspicion toward our government leaders that came out of watergate is about to be undone. I think that people will go back to trusting our political officers. (Not that I won't be fighting for the contrary every step of the way.)
2) I voted for Nader. Health care was my top reason.

...as a presidential candidate. It's time to start on the Gravel 2012 or the Kucinich 2012 campaign. Maybe if we start early, these guys with real progress on their minds will stand a chance. But, as I can't live from election to election, I'll still be talking it up with people, and putting pressure on our current officials when I can.

I voted for Nader in Virginia, I go to yale and im sick of hearing all the other yalies rave about how sweet obama is, but I did a good job convincing people that america does not (contrary to popular opinion) have a 2 party system, so that's a start, at least.
Also, I wanted to say thanks to Davis for being a voice of reason and rational thought during this time of bandwagon jumping and campaign slogan referencing.

1. First "minority" president. Biggest democratic victory in a long time. His party now has a significant majority in both houses of congress.

3. Looking at his first cabinet pick it's hard to have "hope". I guess it's time to "hope for the best while expecting the worst".
4. Living wage; the wages in this country have been allowed to become a joke. If they wages were better poverty wouldn't be as problematic and more people would be able to afford health care.

1. The signifigance for Obama's victory isn't just in his race. I believe his victory has helped turned Florida "Blue" for awhile now. This gives the Democrats 3 of the 4 largest states on the Electoral College on a consistent basis. In addition, it makes you wonder what the future of the Republican Party will be.
3. I didn't vote for Obama, but I must say, his speech that night was amazing. That gave me some hope.

Had Bush made good decisions that didn't cost the Nation life, Liberty of Justice; that didn't cost the Nation a reputation of Constitutional wealth; that didn't cost the Nation it's safety by giving militants a cause to hate us for - then Bush would be well liked and Obama might not be president elect.
The only HOPE I have is that Obama repudiates the Bush Administration - but Obama's history gives me great pause. I'll support a path of accountability no matter who'd have won.

Obama's victory brought out the political within many who were not previously so. In the end I failed Nader, and voted for Obama, fearing OH swing state effects. Yeah, I guess I do feel a bit of hope. Wish for his views of the war to reach far left. Next, is for us to actively rally for progression locally, upward and onward.

1. We will vote in someone more aligned with the 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto than the Constitution.
2. Wrote in Ron Paul since I support freedom. I can not support anyone who opposes freedom with forced taxation.
