The story about Michael writing this song for a girl who was murdered in 1972 is apparently just rumor.

Little Susie was instead inspired by the work of artist Gottfried Helnwein who knew MJ. Helnwein did a series of two paintings called 'Beautiful Victim'. His paintings often depicted abused children. This of course affected and touched Michael, thus the inspiration for the song Little Susie. In fact the artwork for the song resembles one of Helnwein's paintings quite a bit. Google it.

In 1972 (I think...) there was a little girl named Susie who was murdered. Her father left her alone with her sister and her mother. Her mother who was a drug addict died from overdosage. Her sister took care of her, until one day she was hit by a truck and killed. Susie then went to live with her grandfather, and she was raped by him almost on a daily basis. One day when she was left home alone a robber came in the house and pushed Susie down the stairs, then killed her.

It's a sad story :-(
