I love Alice Babs.... but this is nothing but an exact copy of the Chordettes far superior version the same song. The tempo is much too fast in this version and the fact that Babs harmonizes with herself adds little to the complexity of the harmony.
@VealParmigiana The original version of the song was was recorded by Ronald Gumps & Beverly Ross singing as "Ronald & Ruby." The Chordettes version of Lollipop was good, but it too was a cover. Check it out on Wikipedia. The song has an interesting story, that does NOT speak well of tolerance and equality in the United States of 1958. The song itself is an almost perfectly crafted 'pop' song, a model for what that sort of music should be.

In my opinion, Alice Babs is the best female jazz/pop singer since 1950. I haven't heard this and it is my favorite version of this song.
