There is a small convenience store/market that is adjacent to the Hancock. I spoke with the owner yesterday and she said they would be catering to d/town residents. You can leave them a list of groceries you need and they would make sure they get them in and have them ready, discounts for d/town res. etc.
Hey! That's wonderful news! Glad to hear it. Will the Hancock Bldg have an elevator in it? What floor will you be on? It should be a unique experience and I hope a GOOD one for you! :)
Ill be on the second floor. It will have two elevators. Being 37, single and a reformed WV rednbeck I think Ill have a lot of fun living in Dtown ROA. lol
Sounds good to me! It should be fun. Will you have a reserved, INCLUDED parking spot someplace? I love Downtown. I've been here for 16 yrs now having relocated from Long Island, NY. Thanks for writing. Interesting to hear more about my favorite building! :)
There are no parking spots "included" with the lease. However the City of Roanoke supplies a free spot in any city parking garage or lot with a signed lease. And for five bucks you get a city parking sticker which doubles the amount of time you can park in timed spots. I'm sure that you can tour the building anytime you would like. I can get you a number for the bld. manager.
Have you heard about the city council's decision to do away with free parking for downtown residents? Supposed to take place in about two years but I forgot the date. I think that is going to affect people's choice to live down there.
I didn't know it would be ready for occupancy that soon! Hope you enjoy the experience of living downtown. They need a supermarket down there to make it "complete" in my opinion.

I'm moving into the Hancock on the 15th of next month. I'm very excited to finally have a chance to live in the downtown area.
