Actually, the new "Hemi" engine isn't a true hemi at all. It utilizes more of a polyspherical design. The "Hemi" badging is more of a marketing technique than an actual engine description...but what do I know.
I just did a little research and the 4.7 is not considered a HEMI. The 5.7 and the 6.1 are the only two V8's in production at the time. My 2003 Ram has the 5.7 rated at 345 HP. The 4.7 has around 80 to 100 less HP.

I just thought it was funny because most of the time its people driving domestic vehicles bragging about beating "ricers" and this guy was driving a Japanese vehicle. I dont classify ricers as being low hp either. I call the Nissan GTR's that come into the dealer i work at ricers and they are very powerful cars. Maybe the term in my neck of the woods is more loose.

Actually, the new "Hemi" engine isn't a true hemi at all. It utilizes more of a polyspherical design. The "Hemi" badging is more of a marketing technique than an actual engine description...but what do I know.

I just did a little research and the 4.7 is not considered a HEMI. The 5.7 and the 6.1 are the only two V8's in production at the time. My 2003 Ram has the 5.7 rated at 345 HP. The 4.7 has around 80 to 100 less HP.

You may be in a good bargaining position. If it has a 4.7 V8 it has very good engine. While not a Hemi, ... People are quick to incorrectly criticise this engine as not having true hemispherical heads. In fact, the 5.7 and 6.1 Chrysler engines do have hemispherical combustion chambers. They are hemispherical, not pentroof.

Sure some cars existed in response to the 1970s oil issue and small imports sold better due to gas mileage. The chicken tax of 1964 kept imports out and not until the 80s were Japanese car makers making cars in the US to avoid the 25% tax. There is nothing to argue with. Your points are completely invalid, and demonstrate only what can be conjured up in your cretinous brain.

Toyota was the first importer to top 1 million U.S sale's, and started building car's here in 1984. You can't compare the poor sales of imports prior to the 80s and cite well they just didnt last. There were so many more domestics sold you had 100-1 in the imports. I know basic math probably escapes you, but thats part, if not most, of why you don't see old imports. Very few were imported. Its a fact that the Toyota has superior engineering to domestics in so many ways.
