  • best lakers mix ive seen! loving the songs! hahah

  • Best compilation i've seen on youtube

  • This is a great highlight video of one of basketball's most glamourous teams.

  • Amazing, truly amazing

  • Great ending.

  • 6:17 its OJ! hahaha

  • One of THHEEEE best piece of 80s lakers....thank you...brings back many many fond memories

  • it would be extremely epic if the 80's lakers played the 90's sonics: magic vs the glove.

  • Great combination of highlights. Thumbs up!

  • If only the Miami Heat could play like this... JOKES didn't come here to talk about them, Magic is my favourite retired player I personally think he did more for the Sport than anyone including Michael Jordan... And you know what even Magic knows it he's just too modest to admit it.

  • DAym! talk about team play! :D did they use to do all those crazy passes back then ?

  • 80s Lakers>>60s Celtics+90s Bulls

  • This era is known as the United States of Lakers...they can beat any global team in the world!

  • Magic Johnson > Any Point Guard in the History of the NBA!

  • They had good teams in those days also pistons, celtics, suns, etc.None better than the lakers.

  • It really makes me sick when they talk about the Chicago Bulls being this and that and Showtime coulda never had a chance, please a prime showtime team vs a prime Bulls. Lakers all da way Kareem would have eaten Cartwright/Longley alive sure MJ would have tried to take over and all but Magic and Scott offense coulda been too much

  • @TheJDMVP

Yeah, but Scotty and Michael were better defenders than anyone on those teams and they were both great at offense too.

  • Magic = Greatest Laker of All Time

    magic > kobe

  • Great Video

  • THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HIGHLIGHTS EVER!!!!

  • Check out Danny Ainge @ 6:03 when Scott schools him!!! Classic!!

  • The Celtics have something to FEAR THIS YEAR!! Go LAKERS!!! bEST TEAM ON THE PLANET

  • Man I miss chick hearn and the showtime lakers. Glad I got to witness the greatness of the late 80s lakers as a young kid.

  • Same here man. I grew up watching these guys during the late 80s. I wish Chicky was still here so i could hear him say "Slammmm Dunk"

  • Yeah those were the good days. I wonder how the Lakers of today would fare against the 87 Lakers. Btw whats your name about? Brings to mind Starcraft.

  • the Lakers of today would get their butts handed to them. Not a put down, but that Laker team....

  • @davidgee100 I agree with you but I wonder if they would even win a game against the 80s lakers. People still can't guard Magic lol

  • whenever I feel down I watch this!!!...this is what my childhood was all about...livin in LA 1976 -1985. Thanks for making video this with style and class.

  • Best NBA times: 80's and 90's

  • This is The Best Ever Lakers of the World!!!

  • late 80s-early 90s= best time ever.. i wanna go back!

  • I'm a Celtics fan but I have to say that this video is awesome. Especially the music. Love it.

  • name of the musics? nome das músicas?

  • Midnight Star - Midas Touch

    The Floaters - Float On

McFadden & Whitehead - Ain't No Stopping Us Now

Evelyn King - Love Come Down

  • whats happenesd to the NBA. it has gone to pott. i miss the eighties basketball most of all the pure in a player

  • Caraio! Esse time do Lakers era foda!!!

  • Best team ever in basket ball! It looks surreal just watching it. Incredible fast break runs you'll never see today. Sky hook, no look passes and drop steps that are out of this world. And yes, all the dribbles are legal unlike today (running back dribble). Im glad I grew up to see this type of basketball where they play the game like it supposed to.

  • i miss SHOWTIME!

  • RIP Chick. The butter is getting hard and the jello's jiggling.......

  • Those where the days when basketball was actually exciting!

  • most unselfish team ever!

  • They could afford becoming unselfish team because they had a lot of great and good players. Salary cap ruined it :).

    Anyway, I miss those Lakers.

  • rubio tries to be magic, but I don't think he'll ever succeed, especially as hes like 6'1" and really skinny.showtime lakers were the shit

  • The Lakers dynasty continues!! Lakers 2009 NBA Champs!!

  • they did more shit with the ball in the 80s

  • the sky hook is one of the prettiest shots in basketball

  • MAGIC>>>>KOBE

  • remember when Kurt Rambis won the slam dunk championship

  • Ervin, you were a basketball champion, no thanks, you are a basketball champion!!!!

  • if it wasnt for Kurt Rambis the Lakers would have no titles

  • I LUV DA LAKERS!!!

  • the greatest video of all time

  • Senza dubbio la squadra più forte della storia!!!

    Da brividi!

  • SHOWTIME!!

  • great mix

  • pedazo de video, increible.. puf

  • ROFL it says sex in the URL

  • Great mix, thank you

  • FUCK YOUR BOSTON CEPTICS!!!!!!

  • This was an extremely well put together montage! I loved this man.....it reminds me of a time when my life didn't suck

  • jmcpg20 are u in drugs? magic and his lakers played in the greatest era in nba history. they played the game where theres no blood, no foul. u have this celtics of kg play in the 80's, they will get bludgeoned. u have the lakers of the 80's play today, they will beat their opponents with an average of 20 pts. u never beliv me? remember the kings of webber and suns of nash, the lakers played like them. but just better. so shut the fuck up.

  • @tin2975tin Of course KG would have been bludgeoned to death by these guys. Cocaine gives you super strength

  • In the 80s you had Magic Johnson a 6-9 point guard pushing the ball like a man half his size for 40+ minutes a game. Nobody is doing that in today`s game like Magic did.

You also had Ralph Sampson at 7-4 with coordination and agility like a man half is size. Nobody is close to that today.

You had great centers like Moses Malone, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Bob Lanier, Akeem Olajawon. What center has evolved past those guys? None.

Julius Erving? James Worthy? Micheal Jordan? Evolved LOL.

  • i agree with u, but theres also sha, yao ming, and especially dwight howard...

  • Shaq is at the end of the line. Howard is a great young center. Yao is good but he is lacking something. Other than that Centers are ass today.

  • idk man, the 90s era of the center was probably a bit better than the 80s

a prime hakeem, shaq, ewing, david robinson, prime zo, dikembe

i must say the 00 is a sad era for the center position though

  • It was a good era for centers, just remember Ewing and Olajawon started in the 80s as well. You also had Moses, Kareem, Lanier, Gilmore, Parish.

  • Worthy would have a much trouble guarding Pierce, than Pierce would Worthy!

Scott or Cooper would have fits trying to chase Allen off picks!

Who would have guarded Garnett? Green? Rambis? Please!

Perkins is way stronger than Kareem was,he would have given him fits on the block!

Rondo would have given Magic fits trying to bring the ball up the court!

Finally, the Cetlics give up 90 PPG and the Lakers 109,yeah they could score,BUT GREAT DEFENSE PREVAILS EVERYTIME,LIKE IT OR NOT!

  • Your argument is void, today's generation is way bigger than the guys back then.

  • You can't be serious. Do you remember what Magic use to do with the smaller guards? Take them to the low block and abuse them. Rondo would get tired of seeing his backside for easy buckets to other teammates...LakeShow would romp the current NBA champs!!

  • THIS GUY IS AN IDOT!!!!

  • you are a dumbass, period.

  • Perkins give Kareem fits? Your joking. I think you have it backwards.

  • The Celtics are the best defensive team in the league now right? They are a good team.

Who would guard Kareem? Perkins? LOL

Who would guard Worthy? Pierce? Ouch.

Who would guard Magic? Ray Allen? No chance.

On the other hand whoever drives for the Celtics has to deal with Kareem inside. Cooper would come in and guard Pierce or Allen if they got hot.

Its a terrible matchup for any current NBA squad.

Were talking about one of the greeatest teams of alltime.

  • Not every team that walks the ball up the court and plays slowdown is a good defensive team. They may give up less points but that is because they use the clock and play at a slow pace and limit the other teams chances to score.

The 80s Lakers never allowed that because they ran off of misses and they ran off of makes. They pushed the pace for 48 minutes until the other team broke.

The current Celtics may take a game off of the those Lakers but I can see anyone else winning one.

  • When a team gives up 109 PPG,I dont care how you look at it,thats a BAD DEFENSIVE TEAM! You said how they would lock down on defense in the 4th with the game on the line, but thats justs my point! The championship teams of the 90s & today played in your face, pressure defense for 48 minutes, not wait til the 4th with the game on the line. Watch a game from 80s,then watch a game from 90s or today and compare the defensive pressure & intensity, you will see why the scores were so much higher back then

  • Losing their starting backcourt was certainly the reason they got swept. Detroit might have won the series anyway but losing the best player in the league {Magic Johnson} had to have a great impact on the series. Byron Scott was also an All Star Guard.

That series tells nothing about their defense as several of those games went down to the wire without Magic and Scott!

  • Did you not see defense in this video?

Michael Cooper was on the all defensive team several times and even won Defensive Player of the Year! AC Green was on the All Defensive Team.

The Lakers gave up alot of points because they played at a fast pace but they always locked down in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line.

Isaih sprained his ankle in `88 yes but he was able to play and play very well. Magic and Scott were not able to play with their injuries.

  • I never saw a guy block so many shots coming from behind on the fastbreak like Micheal Cooper did. He was like a Hawk. His timing and his leaping ability was exceptional. They would put him on Bird and Larry would really get frustrated from Coops defense.

  • The 80s Lakers were great for their time BUT they would not win a title if they played in the 90s or today! Why? Nobody played any defense in the 80s, thats why scores were so high and Ill admit it was fun to watch and you could win playing that way back then because nobody played any defense. BUT to win in the 90s or today, you better play defense and the 80s Lakers played NO DEFENSE! DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS! To put it simple THE GAME HAS EVOLVED! Players are fatster, can jump higer, etc.

  • Your off base. The Lakers jumpstarted their fastbreak from their defense. Kareem would block a shot or grab a rebound. Rambis would make a steal and outlet the ball to Magic. The offense comes from their defense.

Are you telling me the Detroit Pistons didnt play any defense? The Lakers beat them in 1988. The Pistons were one of the great defensive teams of alltime.

The league was ass in the 90s. Nobody could make a damn shot in some of those games.

  • The 1987 Lakers gave up 108.5 PPG!THAT IS TERRIBLE DEFENSE!The Pistons were the 1st team to emphasize defense and they SWEPT the Lakers in 89 and had Isiah not got injured in 88,Detroit would have won that year too,the Lakers barely won in 7.I know Scott was hurt in 89 and Magic got hurt in Game 2 BUT them being healthy would have made up being swept! The players in the 90s were just as good if not better and it wasnt bad offense it was GREAT DEFENSE!GREAT DEFENSE BEATS GREAT OFFENSE EVERY TIME!

  • Nobody will ever play the game any better than this. The Lakers mastered the game of basketball.

Magic and Worthy on the break was out of this world they made it look so easy.

  • Greatest team ever!! Los Angeles Lakers baby! We'll bring the championship back to LA!!! We'll return!

  • Child of the 80's hehe... can I suggest using the theme song for Beverly Hills Cop with this mix? Man, the Lakers need to play showtime style again and not the boring triangle offense!!!

  • I agree 100% Child of the 80's basketball too! players don't play with heart and soul anymore.....

  • "Don't fear, 'cause #32 is here" (Earvin Johnson Jr, Magic - Always Showtime, courtesy of NBA Entertainment)... :)

  • magic = showtime

  • Does anyone know what music is playing at 3:00 on? And yes nothing like the showtime era.

  • Showtime lakers are the most amzing offensive display in basketball history, but here's to next year lakers fans, 2008-2009 nba champions!

  • showtime baby, best era in basketball history

  • these guys were 20 years ahead of the pack

  • Man I loved showtime, greatest lakers lineup ever. The rivalries and trash talkin in elementary durin recess haha. Still a fan always will be. Die hard Lakers fan for life.

  • fucking awesome, nothing like the showtime era.

  • XD,,

  • This is the greatest NBA team ever assembled. Thank-you for posting. Can you imagine what the Lakers would have done in todays league....scary

  • it's a show time

  • I'm so glad I grew up in the 80s. Back then, there were only 3 NBA teams that mattered: the Celtics, 76ers, and the Lakers. I was a die-hard Laker fan, and KAREEM was/is my favorite player EVER!!! Has there ever been a team with more depth and who could replace departed players so seamlessly? Let's not forget that guys like Norm Nixon, Jamaal, Wilkes and Bob McAdoo were there as well during the 80s...all SUPERLATIVE players.

  • after seeing that if youre a laker hater and you still have no appreciation for the laker franchise you can go straight to hell.

  • this is perfect really...what's the first song name?old times they were playing ball...now they do shows!

  • Magic tiene un puesto enel olimpo para el ala izkierda de jordan

  • Great hilight, it fits perfectly with the showtime era. How I wish those good old days would return.

  • its like someone pre-choreographed this shit

  • lol

  • What is that strange unselfish thing they did that few players do today with the ball when they...........oh it's called passing.

  • shit these men got hops back then too lol

  • this is the greatest showtime lakers video ever

  • ooooooooooooo sto si era baloncesto y lo dmas tonterias

  • i seriously think kareem and worthy together could palm the world, biggest hands evvver

  • I forgot just how good these guys were!

  • I think these guys could play.

  • Byron Scott had some hops there huh

  • So did Worthy, so did Cooper. They were Greyhounds. There isnt a team today that could slow them down.

These are not highlights of the Lakers this is how they played all the time. Every night they ran like this.

  • wished i was alive to watch him play..

  • midas touch is tight

  • awesome mix yo.. miss showtime.

  • wow man this is how basketball is meant to be played

its just beautiful to watch how these guys played like a film or something! xD

  • man black can paly basketball!!!wish I was too but we can't have everything....nice video

  • Magic Johnson was the shit.

  • holy shit magic johnson is AMAZING...and that's an understatement

  • Even though i was born in 84' i miss those old laker dynasty days.

  • please can someone tell what's the name of the first 2 songs? ^:)^

  • The first is by Midnight Star - Midas Touch

  • Just exactly what are we talking about? Their place in history or a dream match best of 7 with the nba title at stake or if these teams would clash year after year like the lakers and celtics did how many titles would they have 80's celtics (3) or 80's lakers with 5?

  • so 80s

  • I believe the 80's Lakers would beat the 00 Lakers. One reason is Shaq's free throw issues. The other is togetherness the 80's Lakers spent some years together intact the Lakers 00'to 02'role players were a revolving door for you to have a dynasty you have to have your role players there and healthy year after year.

  • the 80-83 Lakers would have Beat 00' Lakers becose Jabbar could make Def vs. Shaq after that Lakers didnt have anyone with the Strengt to stop him.. i think the late 80s lakers would have lose vs. 00' lakers. 00' Lakers had Shaq who was just DOMINATING that Season MVP, Finals MVP, First Def Team, First NBA Team, everythnig... 38 ppg in Finals.. with 13.2 Miss Free throws too

  • ^ Nothing but jibberish.

  • no way! just no way!

  • 80's Lakers owns 00's Lakers, Kobe ain't got nothing on Magic.

  • two different players but they're part of the laker legacy.

  • Thank you!! The best laker video!! The 80s lakers would have demolished the 90s bulls.

  • The only Bulls team that had a chance would have been the one with Grant because it was a team that had a core of Pippen, Grant and Jordan. But the late 90s Bulls would've been owned simply because they had more firepower and YOUTH. Just look at what youth allowed the Bulls to do to the Lakers in 1991. The same thing would happen with the Showtime Lakers against the Late 90s Bulls.

  • i just straight got up and left the room at 5:08

  • absolutely disgusting pass at 4:39

  • Thank u so much for such a great video. U have the best basketball video I have seen so far. Awesome. That was the team. The 80's Lakers team was toooooo good. THEY MASTER THE VALUE OF TEAMWORK. I would pay any night to watch that team pay. They played BEAUTIFUL basketball. Thanks for the memories. Nice work, just Excellent.

  • hell why dont you include phil jackson and tyrone lue mugsy bogues while u at it

  • While Magic was great, I believe that Kurt Rambis was the greatest basketball player of all time.

  • showtime!...ball movement at its finest

  • i didn't know they retired michael coopers's number

  • They didn't. It's just a mix.

  • the midas touch everythin' i touch comes to gold! reminds me 1986 when we were playin basket ball her ein France with 80's funk!

  • Wow... That's when u had no egos... A true team.... no doubt..

  • Wow, that brings back some great memories. The Showtime Lakers had talent, depth, and most importantly teamwork. The greatest team ever. Thanks!

  • that Kareem " Lew Alcindor " Abdul Jabbar hook shot was a thing of beauty.

  • Byron Scott had some HOPS.

  • the best dynasty ever put together! and thats a fact.

  • the best player from michigan

  • THANK YOU!!!---MAGIC IS THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME. ALTHOUGH M AIR J IS THE GREATEST AHTLETE. ANYHOO SHOWTIME LAKERS ARE THE GREATEST TEAM OF ALL TIME. THAT IS HOW BASKETBALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED. THAT TEAM WOULD KILL ANY TEAM TODAY. KILL KILL KILL!!! KILL ALL THE WACK "AND 1" BALLERS...GO TO A CIRCUS. OLDSHOOL BABY--AND I'M ONLY 27-BUT I RECOGNIZE.

  • While Magic was great, I believe that Kurt Rambis was the greatest basketball player of all time.

  • Uh huh. And Mark Madsen was second best. Billy Thompson third, AC Green fourth (cough cough)
