Looking back at the original Horsemen, Ole really didn't fit in with the others. The camera doesn't lie. There was no chemistry with Ole. Ric, Arn, Tully, and JJ genuinely liked each other and they hung out together. Ole never partied with them. Today, Ole and Arn don't talk (even though Ole says he always liked Arn) and Ole can't stand Ric. He said that if Ric died tomorrow, he would be mad because he wants Ric to die a slow, painful death.

I understand that the 4 Horseman gimmick(having all the belts, wearing expensive clothing, riding in limos, having pretty women with them) got them OVER with the fans and carried the company, I just disagreed with the comments that they were on top because they were the best and worked harder than everyone else in the NWA.

You make good points about the 4 horseman pulling their weight, taking HEEL HEAT, and carrying guys through matches, I just feel that in this video they are doing a WORK by repeating the '4 Horseman are the greatest' lines they used in the 1980's.

To me, the 4 Horseman was created as a way to put a group of HEEL wrestlers over as main-eventers. This formula worked with the NWO, DX, and Evolution(to a smaller extent). Look what Evolution(a 4 Horseman rip-off) did for Randy Orton and Batista!!

You're right, the idea of the Horseman was not a creation by a suit in the front office. Didn't the 4 Horseman come about during a match involving Dusty Rhodes in 1984 or 1985?

The Horseman may not have been orginally created for gimmick/push purposes(like the NWO,DX,and Evolution), but as the years went by the Horseman became more like a gimmick used to push Barry Windham, Lex Luger, and Sid Vicious. We can't forget that PAUL ROMA and STEVE MCMICHAEL were Horseman too. HA! HA!

Other reasons why I dispute the Horseman's claims in this video of hard-work and being the best as the only reasons they were successful is the presence of JJ Dillon. Having a manager cheating for his wrestlers was an EASY way to get someone over as a heel, especially in the 1980's

Also the 4-on-1 beatdowns of wrestlers in the ring, the parking lot, and the dressing room also got them over as ruthless, mafia-like heels with fans. The Horseman would often carry out "mafia hits" on wrestlers.

Ole and Arn were the Minnesota Wrecking crew and Ric Flair was billed as their cousin so they would always help each other out in matches. And they also had common enemies as Tully who was managed my JJ (Tully Blanchard Enterprises) They were doing a promo after a match and Arn said something like, "To find a time when 4 men caused this much havoc, you have to go back to the 4 Horsemen of the apocalypse." The saddest day ever was when this era ended. Ole could sell a beating, great. Arn was just a bad ass. He had a great work ethic. Tully had all the tools for success,but let drugs get in the way.
