What a life to live! Well, I don't particularly like arrogance. But if you are going to be arrogant, you should be good enough to back it up. And they surely were! As they said, they practicaly ruled that sport probably like no one else did. It's neat when you can walk into a restaurant or bar and not pay for a thing! They were the true meaning of dominance and success. And like Tully said, it worked because it stuck like a thumbtack. If this isn't wealth at your fingertips, what is?
Chuck Norris Had To Get Chuck Norris Approved By Ric Flair!!! Ric Flair Invented Swag. Ric Flair Had To Retire So Charlie Sheen Could Start Winning. Ric Flair Created Winning. Before Winning They Just Called It "U Know That Thing That Ric Flair Does" LOL!!!
@joebrown boy are are you stupid and clearly don't even know how to watch a standard documentary tv program to learn about the basics. gotti was a snitch, of course he wouldn't be protected by anyone, dumb fuck. Why? because he snitched. And that had nothing to do with my previous points btw.
@23jordanAIRwalker I think You're referring to the Definitive Collection DVD with the blue and Gold cover, then no its not on that one. The one Im referring to is the older one with the white cover from 2003, I have that one and yes its on there, its on the second disc. Since there's no regular extras menu, just click chapters and you'll see it very clearly at the bottom of the menu "A Day in the Life of the Horsemen" Hope that clarifies things
And then they pissed it all away by moving to a different wrestling company, doing coke, spending it like it was water, and eventually going broke. My question is, when the first round of Horsemen left to go to the WWF (Blanchard, Anderson and Dillon), what happened to all those parties, and free entry to clubs, and free drinks, and limousines, and private planes? Gone! They probably had to turn in their Mercedes when they realized that the Brain Busters weren't making Horsemen money. IMO, this
Does anyone know if the whole video is up of the "Woooooo! Lemme see that Rolex, Slick Ric! Wooo! Where's the limousine, Naitch?!" promo... it looks like it's the same one as where he says "I'm surfin' in Hawaii... I'm down in Myrtle Beach layin' in the sun... I'm driving around in one of my two Corvettes... or I'm speedin' across the Intercoastal in my Donzi 29 goin'... Woooooo!"
the greatest of all time!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! And in my opinion, Arn was the Scottie Pippen of wrestling. The only reason he wasnt considered as one of the best was because he astood next to the best.
The horseman made it cool to be the bad guys. Every red blooded 18 year old american boy wanted everything they had; money, cars, women, power. What a lifestyle. These wrestlers today wouldn't even make a pimple on a horseman's ass!
@hoduken39 ask ya mammy bout my pair. i wasn't even talkin' you pie boy but since you wanna start some shit, shut the fuck up talkin' to me and go suck a dick or somethin'!
Yes, the Four Horsemen were the real deal. Every time they were on - outstanding. Unfortunately since Vince McMahon controls virtually all of professional wrestling, he won't let anyting resembling the Horsemen rise up. McMahon is ruining professional wrestling - sad to see.
the orginal 4 horsemen where the best faction ever. They did everything they said they did inside and out the ring. You had to love that. The why they dressed the way they acted you loved to hate them. They are the best.
This is real interesting to see WWE showing real sh... They wrestled and traveled several small towns and small markets like Memphis. They build a base and pack small gyms and arenas. They were the best faction around and nothing WWE will do can change it
Looking back at the original Horsemen, Ole really didn't fit in with the others. The camera doesn't lie. There was no chemistry with Ole. Ric, Arn, Tully, and JJ genuinely liked each other and they hung out together. Ole never partied with them. Today, Ole and Arn don't talk (even though Ole says he always liked Arn) and Ole can't stand Ric. He said that if Ric died tomorrow, he would be mad because he wants Ric to die a slow, painful death.
Yeah, who do we believe on this topic. I've heard that Ole was near impossible to work with and he was in charge of Georgia back then. Was Flair difficult to work with? could be. No doubt about the Horsemen changing wrestling.
The Four Horsemen were the best thing that hit wrestling. DX was the funnies. The NWO had the best intro to the wrestling seen with Scott Hall invading WCW and setting it up to Bash at the Beach.
We can't prove whether or not they worked harder than everyone else, but there's no denying when you turned on World Championship Wrestling on TBS, you did it to see The Horseman, whether in the ring, or doing their promos! Before there was an NWO, there was the Four Horsemen!
These guys have got to be KAYFABE'N in this video. The 4 Horseman were the best because they were BOOKED that way, not because they worked harder than everyone else!! This is the Internet age, very few people will buy into the Kayfabe stuff. Was Lex Luger one of the best? Did he work harder than everyone else?
Who actually came up with the idea of the 4 Horseman? I know in the 1980's, it was very common for a collection of wrestlers to form a gang...4 Horseman, Heenan Family, the Russians!!
Nah its because they worked that way...when you look at things you have to look at it from all aspects...they carried that company when other ppl would have more then likely failed to do so,and that was who they were in and out of the ring...that's a well known fact in pro wrestling about the horsemen especially ric flair..this wasn't a act for them it was their life! as for who came up with the idea of the horsemen it was a group thrown together to save t.v time and it just stuck!
I understand that the 4 Horseman gimmick(having all the belts, wearing expensive clothing, riding in limos, having pretty women with them) got them OVER with the fans and carried the company, I just disagreed with the comments that they were on top because they were the best and worked harder than everyone else in the NWA.
I believe that almost any wrestler can get OVER as a heel or face if they recieve a push from the higher-ups in the company or are given a particular gimmick.
i get where you are coming from but you keep calling it a gimmick, see the thing you are missing is that was no gimmick my friend it was who they were and that was that...the front office push, the money, the women yes it can all be givin to you but what happens when you have pulled more weight, taken more heat ,and carried more guys in matches throughout your entire career, that meant something back then and absolutely nobody worked harder then those guys and they were deserving of the best!
You make good points about the 4 horseman pulling their weight, taking HEEL HEAT, and carrying guys through matches, I just feel that in this video they are doing a WORK by repeating the '4 Horseman are the greatest' lines they used in the 1980's.
To me, the 4 Horseman was created as a way to put a group of HEEL wrestlers over as main-eventers. This formula worked with the NWO, DX, and Evolution(to a smaller extent). Look what Evolution(a 4 Horseman rip-off) did for Randy Orton and Batista!!
Ah but you see the four horsemen wasn't a group created from the minds of the front men in the organization it was a group thrown together to fill a match and it worked i'll put it to you this way titles such as WORK and MARK and so forth came much later in the business these guys at this point knew nothing of that..this was their job, their work, and they did it the best which is why groups like the NWO evolution DX and all those that came after could never be close to them it was who they were!
You're right, the idea of the Horseman was not a creation by a suit in the front office. Didn't the 4 Horseman come about during a match involving Dusty Rhodes in 1984 or 1985?
The Horseman may not have been orginally created for gimmick/push purposes(like the NWO,DX,and Evolution), but as the years went by the Horseman became more like a gimmick used to push Barry Windham, Lex Luger, and Sid Vicious. We can't forget that PAUL ROMA and STEVE MCMICHAEL were Horseman too. HA! HA!
Ouch...thats a bad and bitter pill to swallow but yeah at that point wcw had ruined the very idea of the horsemen with the additions of mcmichaels, and paul roma..the windham, early luger and sid era wasn't that bad but it wasn't the original..thats for damn sure, and yeah they came together due to limited time for an interview and this was about the time they started feuding and kayfabe broke dustys arm!..that was about late 1986!
Other reasons why I dispute the Horseman's claims in this video of hard-work and being the best as the only reasons they were successful is the presence of JJ Dillon. Having a manager cheating for his wrestlers was an EASY way to get someone over as a heel, especially in the 1980's
Also the 4-on-1 beatdowns of wrestlers in the ring, the parking lot, and the dressing room also got them over as ruthless, mafia-like heels with fans. The Horseman would often carry out "mafia hits" on wrestlers.
So simply put the actions they took to get themselves into the #1 spot in the company is what you disliked..hey believe me your going to do what you have to do to secure a spot as # 1 manager or not!...to say jj dillion was the only reason is to spit on a great part of what these guys did for this business.you can't honestly say that it was because of jj that they had huge gains in success that makes no sense..perhaps you should search some of their matches and see how many times he got in that!
I'm not spitting on what the 4 Horseman accomplished, my original point was that Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, and Tully Blanchard are doing a WORK in this video and presenting it as a SHOOT!! I'm sure that's what happens in most of the WWF's "true story" releases.
The 4 Horseman were great wrestlers, but claiming that they were on top because they were better and worked harder than everyone else is just wrong to me. This is 2009, wrestling fans are more aware of how things really work.
Ole and Arn were the Minnesota Wrecking crew and Ric Flair was billed as their cousin so they would always help each other out in matches. And they also had common enemies as Tully who was managed my JJ (Tully Blanchard Enterprises) They were doing a promo after a match and Arn said something like, "To find a time when 4 men caused this much havoc, you have to go back to the 4 Horsemen of the apocalypse." Thus the Horsemen were born.
Thanks for that explanation. It sounds as if the Horseman were created by accident. At the beginning, the Horseman were 4 outstanding wrestlers who just came together, unlike RIP-OFFS like DX, the NWO, Evolution, the Nation of Domination and Legacy who were put together for comedy purposes and to allow some limited wrestlers to get OVER with the audience.
They were booked that way but remember,if people come to see them get their asses kicked or just to be a heel fan and that puts butts in the seats and high payments on the gross then hell yeah the Horseman carried that company.
This is true gangster pimp shit!!! 50 Cent and G-Unit... you wack as industry made pimps wannabees... suck a dick cuz you aint shit!!! 4 Horsemen are the real original gangsters... even if its ''fake'' and scripted!! Fuck G-Unit!!!
Good point, kortexdelrio. All these MINSTRUL SHOW rappers are copying what the 4 Horseman did 20+ years ago meaning boasting about material things like cars, woman, jewelry, expensive wine, and money.
@joebrown ? since when don't italians do their own thing? you ever heared about the mafia before fatboy? they were and are still all over the u.s. and i would not fuck with any of them unless i had a deathwish, which i don't.
btw latin and black gangs do NOT get along, especially in L.A. In fact latin gangs team up with white gangs in california.
@TheNewMusicNetwork Thats funny cuz John gotti got beat up by the black guerilla family injail and got extorted by the ayrian brothehood! Like i said the mafia is not respected by most street gang or prison gangs.
This just brings me back to the days (the 1990s for me personally) when hard work got you success instead of kissing ass and having "convenient" connections like today; and this was not just for wrestling but for everything in general.
Dude, I hear that those people on CSI aren't really crime scene investigators either. So it's scripted---that doesn't mean it's not entertaining. Whoooooooooo!
hes still around. Ive seen a couple vids of him on youtube at wrestling conventions doing interviews.Ole and Vince dont get along very well from what I heard so thats probably why you dont see him on the dvds.
The saddest day ever was when this era ended. Ole could sell a beating, great. Arn was just a bad ass. He had a great work ethic. Tully had all the tools for success, but let drugs get in the way. To sum things up, words can't give Ric his due. If anybody thinks that Ric isn't the BEST EVER, you need to go buy Focus Facter by the cases. Take at least 4 pills a day and maybe you will get a clue of who the best ever is.

Ole hates Flair, Vince, and pretty much everyone else in wrestling, so I doubt he wanted to participate...and I'm sure they didn't want him.

I love the Horsmen. My Favorite 3 are Tully Blanchard, Barry Windaham and Ric Flair
