  • Hmm,he actually watched his neck doing that, often times while playing leads he runs around not even paying attention to his axe.Watching guys like that is incredible but also discouraging for me.I've been playing a long time and I'm not even on the same planet as he is as far as talent.I guess I should have done more than an hr a day practicing as a kid and did the 14 a day Wikipedia claims he did during summers. What total dedication it must take to be among the best in the world.

  • The great classical guitarist Andres Segovia always claimed that the electric guitar was an abomination and would the downfall of the guitar. I wonder what he would think of someone like Chris who has clearly mastered both instruments? I'd hope he would have an open enough mind to see that both can be beautiful when played properly.

  • holy shit wars!! lol You are the man chris!!

  • its crazy that hes in megadeth

  • He makes it look like it's not complicated.

  • Nice! Looks like he´s know whats his doing! And this is superb analyze!

Thums up if ya aint born yet!

  • his music is as beautiful as he is

  • Amazing technique, it's rare that rock players can bridge the gap like that. He even varies between his free stroke and rest stroke. Most rock players can only do the free stroke cause they're used to using a pick. I say it all the time, but Chris is probably one of the most underrated players in rock and metal

  • I find this MUCH easier than his "regular" shredding stuff

  • This is good, but can he play smoke on the water?

  • @JRixonMusic WTF I've seen this comment everywhere, oh god smoke on the water sucks.

  • The sad part is.... he sucked at basketball,,, and was made fun of during P.E. Such talent wasted on a measly wooden hollow box.... ;-p

  • While the guitar graveyard is piling up...

  • unfuckinreal !!!

  • Does anyone know where this was filmed? Absolute masterpiece.

  • Check out MIKE ORLANDO and forget you even knew about this simpleton.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Go suck Mike Orlando balls please.

  • 0:25 is f****** awesome

  • The dynamics in his performance are awesome. He transitions from his mezzo's to his fortes like a genius.

  • Whatever, I'd like him to try and play my '67 Caprice.

  • Thats my guitar...

    Hell, im too bad :(

  • as classical...he's very poor, but as metal guitar he's a beast!

  • @otpenagos are you an idiot....hes very poor? did you see his wicked fingerpicking or are you just a fucking idiot?

  • @1withguitar you sir obviously don't know shit about classical guitar. I must admit his skills in the classical guitar are probably over those of the average electric guitarist, but he's not an outstanding classical guitarist at all. And that "wicked fingerpicking" is the standard on classical. maybe you should be more informed before going around calling people idiots.

  • @0the0drifter0 woah woah woah lets back it up? Who are you comparing him to thats what i want to know?? The best of the best?then obviously other people pale in comparison. take it for what its worth.

  • @1withguitar my point is: despite being treated as a superb classical guitarist in this comment section, he is not better than an average one. I can understand that this could be very impressive to someone who has had little contact with classical guitar but to a classical trained guitarist, it isn't. I hope I made myself clear.

  • @0the0drifter0 Can you play classical guitar? Well what do you consider an average classical guitar? He for sure is more than well trained. The worst attempt of playing classical guitar is Yngwie Malmsteen.

  • @speedtomas Yngwie does play the classical guitar but he doesn't play it classical style like this player does, so it can't really be compared..

  • american idol

  • you are BEST!!!

  • i could play this in my sleep....sorry ...in my dreams*

  • and that's how baby jesus was created.

  • Comment removed

  • What a well-rounded guitarist

  • Is it just me or does he make a lot of mistakes, it really sounds like he is pushing the tempo beyond his abilities.

Bet if he tried to play it slower it would actually sound nice, now it sounds like crap.

  • @UggiKaldan I feel the same way.

  • @UggiKaldan i mean kinda on that huuge arpeggio thing he does, but that might just be the mic not picking up notes to the fullest

  • @UggiKaldan yep. he's not nailing everything. But, not like i could do 1 measure...

  • thank god i play bass :)

  • @dmh091 Do classical guitarists play megadeth too?

  • Suck it Marty Friedman!!! jk your awesome

  • and he's the guitarist of megadeath?????????????

  • Who did he sell his soul to?

  • while i was watching this, my mom came in and she asked if i was watching porn because she saw that i almost had an orgasm.

  • @danwiesdamageinc He's a trained classical guitarist...

  • I wonder if he has an insurance policy for his fingers.

  • Chris is my hero

  • @dmh091 what would you consider impressive?

  • im nothing yep

  • that's it :( i say hi to my drumset :D and good bye to the guitar already...

  • unlike those 62 people who smashed their guitars im going to try and get better now....oh fuck it where can i smash mine?

  • 62 people quit to play the guitar after watching this video

  • wow, he is better than i thought

  • Yep I have shook that hand of his.

  • Mines firewood…..I give up! Spectacular playing! I'll never be a fragment of the talent that I just witnessed

  • why's everyone so angry...this music is otherworldly and yet it's been overrun with fucking trolls

  • welp. i'm gonna go ahead and sell my guitar now

  • one of the most vertile metal players out there

  • Cant stop listening to this piece.!

  • i wish i can play classical like that, the best i can play is like bach's bouree in Em and simple stuff

  • @acidbath32 its not about what u play, its about how u play it. btw, segovia scales, friend

  • *sighs* this guy can play: metal, rock, jazz, blues AND spanish guitar. Fuck me (set's guitars and amps on fire)

  • damn, he's good at having sex with clothes on

  • ohhh.... my b. i had him confused with this guy

  • is this really the same fellow as in those other vids its attached to of a simular looking cave man banging on an electric wangdoodle? i dont believe it

  • He's much more talented, than his brother, Matthew Broderick.

  • @GuiAntonioli lol!!

  • well shit I quit !

    (throws guitar out window)

  • Not that hard .

  • @aaassd2 I like your thinking: if a song isn't extremely difficult to play then disregard it. Please post video of you nailing this song in front of an audience while wearing a black turtleneck.

  • @kingv911 I apologize for that last comment. My cousin got on my compter and he's a troll. Chris is an amazing guitarist and i wish i was able to do half the stuff he does.

  • @aaassd2 I can do it but I don't want too.

  • This is a great song to play around the campfire with a bunch of rednecks.

  • @xsited1 you are greatly blinded to think this beautiful Italian piece would be associated with a bunch of hicks..

  • wow man you are fantastic I really enjoy your playing. I saw one of your heavy metal type segments and thought ok but where do you play that stuff. you can play anywhere. thanks

  • WHY IS EVERYONE SO REASONABLE AND LOGICAL ON THIS VIDEO? WHY CAN'T THE REST OF YOUTUBE BE LIKE THIS?

  • @element271 well, that's the side effects of watching broderick slay a classical guitar solo piece

  • i wanna hear this together with my family on christmas!!!

  • I just started laughing of all the nerves....... that's the power of Mr broderick who also signed my guitar :D

  • THAT was crazy. just watched him on That Metal Show. Amazing!!!

  • that run @ 0:31 is unreal. just wow.

  • Check out Jason Becker if you like this..

  • Is there something he can't play??? I don't think so...

  • Chris just showed Luigi Legnani how to play this.

  • i have this guitar!

  • ❤ ♫♪

  • too bad this guy is wasting his time in that terrible band megadeth he good so much better

  • @killingspree That's just like, your opinion man.

  • @killingspree Terrible band + Megadeth = no sense made

Megadeth is amazing, Chris Broderick is amazing. You are a hater.

  • you all need to look up videos on marc okobu and jason richardson, two amazing guitar players

  • here that sound.....that's the sound of me giving up

  • “Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid."

Stop spilling bullshit buddys :D and enjoy music ... wether it is Chris Broderick, Blink 182 or whatever the hell you listen to.

  • @SpineS Except for rap! ^_^

  • @Pwnzjoomom Hey, some rap is really good.

  • @gergaginflopple Yes, SOME rap, meaningful rap. Not the c(rap) that teens listen to these days.

  • @Pwnzjoomom

I'm a teen, and either way it's still a form of music that should be appreciated. There are plenty of rock and metal bands with lyrics and music as bad or worse than a lot of rap out there.

  • @Pwnzjoomom BIGGEE AND 2PACK REPRESENT EAST SIDEEEE NIGHGA THATS REEL RAP BRO BITCHES AND HOES

  • @SpineS

perhaps one of the dumbest analogies i've ever fucking heard...suffice to say that Broderick is not limited...a more apt description would probably be he follows Paul Gilbert in a most glorious way...

  • @ZOMBIELANDakaUSA thats cause your a dumb cunt. follows paul gilbert in a most glorious way? you manage to sound both pretentious and thick. how does that description have anything to with SpineS's analogy? a good analogy at that. that we are all good at something, but that we get judged for different things. you judged his comment in completely the wrong way and completely missed the point. and since you called it dumb, well.... its never fails to be funny when the pot calls the kettle black.

  • @bazbonehead

i am what i eat, how is your mother by the way? And i was referring to the quote Spines mentioned...so calm down . And when i say follows Gilbert, i mean he's multi dimensional like gilbert("not limited"). Re-read my post, it's actually glorifying Broderick, you obtuse fuck.

Say hi to your mum, tell her i think the glass is half full...

  • @ZOMBIELANDakaUSA my mothers a whore, so i wouldnt go spreading it around on the internet that you even know her to be honest, let alone that you'd dare to eat her manky vag. eurgh, if you're prepared to stoop that low, i don't think i can even begin to consider contemplating your tastes in music. and yes i knew you were referring to spiness, thats why i mentioned it dumbass, yet you still fail to see my point. i think ill just leave you and my skanky mum alone. id take a long shower after too.

  • @bazbonehead

I said i am what i eat, then i asked how your mama was doing,i never said i ate your mama's "manky vag".And actually you called her a whore and skanky, you dumb cunt. And my taste in music i'm certain is beyond your comprehension,at least the stuff i write, and play, with numerous instruments.

Here's another dumb saying for you, pull your lower lip over the top of your head...then swallow

and my cup is half full(you still missed that one, fucktard)

  • @SpineS I think you missed the point of that quote. If guitar playing is a tree, then Chris Broderick is most definitely a monkey. Pretty sure Blink 182 falls into the category of fish.

  • @BBQChickenWingz If guitar playing is a tree then Chris Brotherick is.... THE FUCKING LUMBERJACK WHO CUTS THE TREE OFF!!!!!

  • Bravo! :D

  • Hey ! I listen to blink 182, and I would say I have a fair judgement of music! A true musician is one who understands and appreciates all forms of music!

  • @yoyoyoElijahArroyo nah true musicians know when they are listening to shit and when they arnt and blink182 is definately shit they have no fucking talent

  • I listen to blink182 since I was a kid and that didn't stop me from admiring and love the talents of musicians of such class like Broderick; Tosin Abasi and Misha Mansoor being my favorite ones (despite not being exactly in the same category here). Still, I don't think I'm listening to shit when listening to blink182 just because they don't have this kind of talent. Learn to take music a little less seriously, kids, and have fun with less elitism.

  • @bloodystain as a musician i need something a bit more stimulating that blink 182 ... three chords and teenage lyrics dont cut for me

  • Comment removed

  • And that's exactly why I (also a musician) listen, most of the times, to progressive metal and djent, to obtain that stimulation you speak of through the endorphins released by the brain due to the unusual sequences of polyrythms and other goodies. To each it's own, of course. The difference is that, despite my ability to recognize excellent music and artists, I don't look at other less complex kinds of music from above. And blink182 raises my mood and its catchy, so I'm sticking to it.

  • This is a musician!!!! I met him in Mexico a couple days ago!!!!!

    Such a great, great person...!!!!!!

  • @Stangerlove i met him tooo : D

  • @Nuclearkarnage Cool!!!!

    Congratulations!!

  • holy smokes! this is just unfair. how can i ever touch the instrument again.... :) amazing

  • for the record ANYONE WHO LISTENS TO BLINK 182 SUM41 OR ANY POP MUSIC HAS NO RIGHT TO DEBATE GOOD MUSICIANS!!!!!!

  • yeah chris broderick rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy crap! The lead guitarist for Megadeth can play CLASSICAL!!!???!!! O_O

  • Best guitarist EVER. If you don't think so, try eating a bullet.

  • i honestly think Chris Broderick is currently the most technical guitarist on the planet at the moment, he could play ANYTHING anyone gave him with ease be it classical, jazz, metal or any bizzarre technique....he may not be the best guitarist but i really don't think there is anyone out there more technical than Chris

  • @ArseLoad0fMetal666 Uh, you live in a bubble dude. Petrucci is far superior technically. than Chris. Tosin Abasi is also way better technically.

  • @spaden2112 what??? Technically Petrucci is amazing at electric but i have never seen him tackle any TRULY technical classical or jazz music, Broderick can play all of those styles with ease. As for Tosin Abasi i would say there isn't enough stuff out there of him playing anything other than whatever the unique style he plays should be called...i guess it's kinda Djent but i've never seen him play truly advanced classical guitar

  • @ArseLoad0fMetal666 , ok Tosin is talented. WE CANT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ANY MUSICIAN EVERYONES DEBATING OVER.. , buckethead, tosin, satriani. how many of their songs REALLY sound diffrent.. its like "wow u just made two songs playing the same scale, just in a diffrent key.. im impressed" with yngwie its just "HOLY SHIT YOU CAN PLAY THE SAME ARPEGGIOS OVER AND OVER REALLY FAST!" yngwie is a joke. he SHOULDNT EVER BE compared to the rest of these guys.

  • @AnthonytheTBaggers WOOW, your ignorance amazes me....i mean i hope i don't sound like a hipster in saying this but you are incredibally stupid and those guys are some of the most diverse musicians on the planet. You should be put down like a horse or a dog or summin dude....

  • @ArseLoad0fMetal666 im stupid because i can play all those' guy's music, i figured out all their nuances and time signatures?? im not saying these guys dont have talent. DONT ASSUME THAT. i just dont feel their music is that amazing, and yng is a joke along with herman li'.

  • sam worthington's brother.

  • classical guitar pisses me off

  • @BoomBoy13 cuz u can't do it! ;) jk bro neither can i lol

  • he´s better than marty friedman

  • i like this better than his 8 finger tapping stuff!!

  • the piece is way more beautiful when played slower (as shown by shon boublil). sure chris knows how to play but it's a shame he's stuck in the need for speed

  • Hope this guitar is 18

  • @mathieuloser doesn't matter, rape is always illegal :).

  • Comment removed

  • i wish chris broderick to be my guitar teacher :D

  • @sermerlin1 He actually does teach guitar... or at least he used to, I dunno if he does anymore. Though I'm sure classes with him would cost you an arm and a leg XD

  • That was beautiful Chris. Now play some fucking Tornado of Souls. \m/

  • SOUNDS LIKE OLD POKEMON XD

  • One thing I'll say righ there. Chris Broderick... This man is a Guitarist with a capital G. There aren't many like him. Respect.

  • @jerryteacup There are many like him, they are the ones who went to school with him to earn a Degree in classical guitar... He is just awesome because he looks better while playing it lol

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY Your a fucking idiot, he HAS a degree in classical guitar. Please go jump off a barely constructed bridge.

  • @AgentSpiral Thats what I just said dumbass.. Re-read, and read the part that says "the ones that went to school WITH HIM" illiterate idiot..

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY umadbro?

  • @AgentSpiral Sure, why not

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY, You don't get good at something by going to school.

  • @GuitarHeroPhenomSux Of course you do.. Especially when you have someone better than you infront of you telling what to do and you want to school him so badly... School teaches everything, especially if you are learning what you want, look at Chris Broderick, hes a fucking badass because he learned a few scales, was able to play good, went to school and became a fucking badass

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY, No, he's good because he practiced alot. If he went to school to just learn the theory and never practiced, he wouldn't be good. Therefore, I could practice alot, avoid school; learn the theory from a book and be equally as good. School doesn't make you good at the instrument. Alot of people think they can take lessons and get good but it's not true. Practicing is the only thing that will make you better.

  • @GuitarHeroPhenomSux Ok, I hear what you are saying. If you get it from a book, from a video, from a dude, thats basically school, because you are getting schooled. The way I learned guitar (I regret) is called practicing without any source, like being in a dark room with only a guitar and then coming out with the ability to play. I regret it because now I cant learn that many scales because Im not used to it,but if learned from a book, by a music teacher, then i would be home schooling myself

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY, I guess it kind of depends on what you want out of the instrument. Like, I want to play so I can write songs and be in a band. I'm more of an autodidact about these things and think school leaves no room for creativity. In my opinion..

  • @GuitarHeroPhenomSux I agree school leaves no room for creativity, for example, Schooling Chris Broderick made him lose alot of creativity in his solos, he can play all badass super fast and technical, but they are mostly scales. Some of his solos have a lot of creativity, but He knows how to play all these scales better than anyone I have ever heard of, I wonder what would happen if he didnt go to school for guitar

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY, That's a great example. Just like people giving props to Malmsteen for being the best shredder or whatever. But honestly, who's a better musician? Him or Gilmour, Page, Hendrix; hell even Cobain? Musics about relating emotions that humans feel. You can tell how someone feels just by the tone in their voice. Musics the same way. You can feel the emotion, the energy. It's all a form of expression. Shredding is a talent but it's achieved through repetition.

  • @GuitarHeroPhenomSux I dont like Malstreem much, to much of the same old stuff... I beleive that if a voclaist can express their emotions with a couple of notes in their voice, a guitarist should do the same and really grab all the emotion, whether it is the feeling to thrash, to scream, to relax, to be happy/sad, it should always be achieved, and it shouldnt just be for listening

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY, I'm with you on that..

  • @GuitarHeroPhenomSux I disagree, I think schooling simply adds tools to your repertoire, Creativity is either something you have or you don't, schooling does not take away from it, but rather adds to it. The fact that many people choose to be technical moreso than creative is the fault of the player, not the means by which he learned to play.

  • @gergaginflopple, I think you misunderstood me and we both agree. I was arguing against the people who think schooling will make them automatically good at the instrument and they can then take it to new levels. I think that is a blunder made by most beginners. You'll never get good at something just by going to school alone. You have to put hours of repetition to truly understand what you're doing. Schooling may help you get more involved. But it isn't necessary.

  • what a disscussion haha, the truth is that classical guitar players are the best in the world, they can find out anything they want, but also some other artist like Chris broderick, marty friedman, hendrix blablabla.......are awesome, also is truth that metal, rock, punk are open mind genres in comparition to the classic guitar style, in that kind of genres u can play whatever u want, y classic guitars u have to follow rules, saying in that way..............thats my opinion

  • Okay, you say whatever you want, but please, record yourself playing classical pieces better than this and then comment.

  • herman li is a joke. his name should not even be mentioned with the likes of chris broderick.

  • whats the size of that man ? Look at him :D

  • you simply can't play something like that without passion.

  • I keed i keed.......i like Chris Broderick and his guitar playing

  • this is SO METAL! lmao

  • no dude, most of metal drummers plays any kind of music simply cause they are the best drummers and eager for music.

  • @truseter Metal drummers? The best drummers? Whatever you're smoking that makes Buddy Rich worse than a metal drummer, I want it.

  • @emphaticleech you should listen more music and saying less nonsenses
