Dear mother earth, who day by day unfoldest blessings on our way, O praise him, Alleluia! The flowers and fruits that in thee grow, let them his glory also show: (R) And all ye men of tender heart, forgiving others, take your part, O sing ye Alleluia! Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, praise God and on him cast your care: (R) And thou, most kind and gentle death, waiting to hush our latest breath, O praise him, Alleluia!
All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voices, let us sing: Alleluia, alleluia! Thou burning sun with golden beams, thou silver moon that gently gleams, Refrain: O praise him, O praise him, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Thou rushing wind that art so strong, ye clouds that sail in heaven along, O praise him, Alleluia! Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice, ye lights of evening, find a voice, (R)
Dear Lord, we do not ask that you bless us in our worship, but rather that your name may be glorified. We want nothing for ourselves on this day, but that your name be lifted up. You, whose plan of redemption was in place from the moment you breathed life into the dust and created us. We are not worthy of your grace, but all of creation rejoices in it.

There is no church called "Mormon"! That's a nick name given by enemies. The real name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". "Mormon's" believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the savior and redeemer of mankind. It is only by Him and through His suffering in the garden of Gethsemane, causing Him to sweat great drops of blood and through His Crucifixion and His resurrection that we may be blessed with eternal life. Do you seek info. yourself? Or only believe what others tell you?
On my channel, I have a website listed that really does a good job of explaining the gospel and salvation. Its the scribd one (for any who are interested).
Can you imagine getting to heaven where all of us have perfect health and perfect voices and being able to sing something like this all together rejoicing in what God has done for us? +~_~+
Love it! Thanks for putting this together. I promoted it with the following verses at One Year Bible Blogging on facebook. Have a wonderful day.
Psalm 145:8;"The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love" Psalm 30:5b; "his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime" Psalm 145:13b-21; "The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. The Lord is righteous in all his ways...Let every creature praise his holy name"
It would seem to me that this hymn should be a point of shared faith and joy for what confessions of faith we have in common. Not a jumping off point to contend about what we do not agree on.
I just have one question, why is it that you Mormon haters have to come on here and ruin such spiritual and beautiful music as this with your angry comments? What did Mormons do to you? Do you really have to come on a video of one of our hymns and diss on us?Come one now, let's be reasonable. Thanks ByronDavis for this, one of my favorite hymns. God Bless.
All power and honor and glory given to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The saviour of all men, who call upon his name and be saved. for there is no name under heaven given among men, by which we MUST be saved. amen
This is to celebrate the Saints Day of St. Francis of Assisi, whose words these are from me, Beamish Sprout and Co. We don't think the Dr. Kildare at the end looks like St. Francis.
Astonishingly moving and uplifting, even for an old agnostic like me. What a brilliant idea to combine such a video with this hymn! It's given me a colossal buzz such as I never normally experience apart from when listening to the symphonies of Anton Bruckner. Thy symphonies or the masses.
@startug God will judge each of us according to what we have been taught and what we are able to discern as we pass through life. What of the people who lived and died never hearing of God or Jesus?
Surely God will be fair in all things.
If He is not fair, He doesn't deserve to be God. That is what makes Him so awesome.
@flintstone9812 I have a good feeling that Mormons do go to heaven for believing and loving Jesus and God. I've seen Mormons, and some really love God and Jesus, and I know God would never hate them.
@startug You're correct that God doesn't hate Mormons. He doesn't hate Protestants, Lutherans, Anglicans, Jews, Bhuddists, Hindus, athiests, or anyone. What he does do, however, is expect them all to realize that the Catholic Church is the true Church, entrusted to Peter by Jesus himself. As such, the whole world, and every single person in it, should be Catholic. If someone fails to do that, they open the door to hell themselves.
@startug Yeah, good luck with that theory. Matthew 10:14 - "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet."
I'm sorry to say, but that is not true. Of course everyone is not going to Heaven. You have to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, etc. It is all in the Bible.
@camilledm I didn't say that it was true that Jews go to heaven. Oh well, I know Christ was in fact a real man, and he is proof that God is real, and that Christianity (Including Catholics, Protestants, ETC.) are going to heaven.
@deaner06 Oh my, please don't disparage the choir with its incredible sound because you may not agree with the teachings of the church. The choir was inspiring to me. NO, I am not mormon but I know talent when I hear it.
Very uplifting indeed, allow yourself to be in God's true presence and feed from it making you stronger day by day and walking out His call in your life which positively affects others.
One of the most BEAUTIFUL hymns in any missal! As a seminarian, this is my favorite hymn. It can bring any heart and soul into contact with the glory of god. Almighty God Bless You!
No God?! No Religion?! What?! Can't be!! I'm an Episcopalian. I don't know what we would do for pot luck lunches, coffee hours and parish socials if there was no God. Probably have no choice but join that riff raff in the tennis club and share facilities! No way! If God dos'nt exist we'll just have to reinvent him and make him respectable :-))
@pipeup1 Hahahaaha!! That just made me lol! Of course He lives and He exists! I can't imagine going to Church every weekend thinking that people invented Him! Goodness gracious!
Everyone who is reading this comment, please click on my username for my videos I made about the The Truth of the World. I have found out what the truth of life is, the truth of the world, and the truth of God. Please, I really want people to watch and listen what I have to say. No more living in false reality, no more living in illusions, no more thinking there is no way out......its time to lead your life into The Truth of the World!!!!!!!!!
Folks, just allow yourself to be embraced by Francis' words....a loving and wise man of God. The last thing to do in this thread is fight about anything. This is such a majestic and powerful performance of this glorious hymn....and a beautiful video. Thank you, BryonDavis.
@Carolarny1 People don't always mean (or understand that they don't mean) what they sing. It's that thought that makes me more careful what I sing and how I sing it. There are portions of songs that I will skip even in congregational singing because I can't sing them and mean it. That takes a lot of thought (and I'm kind of weird like that!), though.
pal get with the times and buy Patty Griffin's Downtown Church and hear the real version of All Creatures of our God and King. Makes your version sound like a joke. And people there aint no god going to save us i hate to brake the news but its only good and evil and right now evil is winning by a country mile. Religion is not the answer nor our salvation. I will say most of you are good people but there aint no god going to save us !
@SaveCetaceansNOW He already did save us! If you are one of His, what can they do to you? They can kill your body, but this life is short anyway. We're talking eternity here. Evil is defeated.
God Has sent his Son to die for us you and me! He is always there If we saw him His glory would over whelm us! God is fair if you choose satins side he will not kill/hurt you! Pray to God and ask him to show Himself to you! See what happens!
You're confusing God's mercy with "tolorance". For a certain time you're given room to come to know Him as Lord and saviour but after that if you still refuse then all that is left is judgement, no different then someone on trial and having to go to jail or in this case hell which is seperation from God and is why it's so bad and tourmenting.
Hockeyvally Prove there is no god!!!! how was this world created? Evolution??? No if you put all the parts of a watch in a bag and shake it does not come down as a watch put together by it's self!!!!
how could you say there is not god? myabe what happened in hati was to bring more people to god, besides after that happened tons of missionaries went down and people could have been saved through that, i know for a fact that there is a god so please dont say there isnt one
he is omnipotent. trial and tribulation are part of Gods plan to help us grow. we all experience trials, how we react to it becomes the statement of our character. do we look for ways to serve and ease Haiti 's pain? or do we deny our God over it.
tragedy and trial do not disprove a God but verify him. He said that yes we would have challenges like now in Haiti. now it's our turn to react.
also if God is the very giver of life then yes he may take it also.
2nd Cor: 3But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed
12..
claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. 13For such men are false apostles deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
if you don't believe it, go your own way. all i can say is i'm sorry you dont feel the same way we do. But i DO believe in this church. All i can do is wish you will find the truth like we already have
Also isn't it also said that to spread them to all the world? that would include african americans or blacks right? Why then is it that I've heard about mormons claiming they can't be saved and are under the curse of cain? I.E. the native americans who skin supposedly turned a diffrent color because of their actions? can they too not be saved? that is a total contradiction to the Bible (for those who like the Mormons whatch the Documentary on them done by south park) Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum lol
You'll hear a lot about Mormons... I'd hardly call South Park a documentary, but you must check your sources my friend. Would we confer upon Blacks or Native Americans the priesthood if we thought them to be condemned by Cain? It doesn't matter if you're African American, Native American, Spanish, Brazilian, or Islamic, we are all the same in God's eyes. There is a distorted image in what you have been told. The BOM clears all up about this my friend.
@LDSseminaryStudent So you're saying the version that south part said was wrong and the Native Americans weren't cursed and had their skin changed? because I've heard from what I believe to be reliable sources that this gives people fuel for the fire when they discriminate against people of certain color I agree that we are all the same in Gods eyes Guilty sinners and in need of a savior In summery what did south park get wrong in their 30 min stuff?
I don't watch South Park, finding that in the few instances that I've caught glimpse of a portion it mocked Jesus Christ himself. If a show mocks our Savior, is it not sensible for us to not note it for 100% truths? South Park is credible for presenting ideas, but in distorted comical contexts... I do not mean to down you, but only strike misinformity, I mean only to show you what Mormonst truly believe, my friend.... LDS members do not discriminate... They allow all men the priesthood.
I take no offense and I know that they do a lot of mockery with the Theological idea's. Even so much as mocking Christ. Those shows I do not whatch and I tell others not to whatch them. Yet some are just funny. And I am glad to hear that you too believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. And the Color thing. Yet that still doesn't answer all my questions. 1 Peter 3:15.. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
Actually the mormon Bible claims Jesus was not God but a angel right? Have you read Romans where it says who can condem it is God who Judges can an angel remove Judgement? The only thing that can and could ever save us from sin/death is God or an Act of God for "He Judges" thats why we're called not to judge others because its not us who judges it God. In short if you believe the mormon Stuff you have an angel dying for you as for us we have Christ who is God in the flesh not angel. Selah?
God, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one as far as being of one mind, but they are separate individuals. We believe Christ came, in the flesh, and suffered in Gethsemane and upon the cross after performing many miracles. He was resurrected from the sepulchre, which may be where the angel distortion comes in, but in a very real literal sense we believe Christ to be a God. In Abraham it even refers to "Gods" creating the Earth... But there can be distortions from that....
@LDSseminaryStudent Also I find it very hard how some who claimed to knowledge of a revilation from Jesus Christ or something from God would keep it a secret Jesus himself Did nothing in secret and spoke openly In fact when question by pilot and the Pharisys when they asked him about his preaching he said go ask others what I preached for I spoke openly and did nothing in secret Why then all the secrecey in tablet form? prophets too spoke openly? why this sudden change?
Joseph Smith spoke openly of his revelation from the beginning. When he was but 14 then onward people refused to open their hearts to the possibility that he, a naive adolescent, would see God and Christ, but not them. Mobs tried to rob him of his "golden tablets" several times, and when he actually shared 116, or so, pages of translations they were lost. Yet his works are not kept from any. The Book of Mormon, PGP, D&C, and the soon to come JS translation of the entire Bible.
Thanks that helps a bit now Im glad to hear that he spoke openly about this revilation . The Bible we have is kept for all the world to study? I.E. the dead sea scrolls.but what about this Book and see'er stones? Moses kept the staff for all to see and the Ark was kept for all to see The Ark was stolen too but that didn't mean it stayed stolen? God doesn't need a steel vault or gaurds to protect his work. From what I know the Book and Stones are not for open study or even found?
Well, the golden plates were taken back up to Heaven, but it doesn't directly tell us what happened to the "seer stones" or "breastplated" that Joseph Smith found. They could have been taken too... If I ever got the chance I'd ask an Apostle or the Prophet, but I don't see that opportunity coming anytime soon. The stones and plates therefore are one of the things Anit- Mormons delve into with rumor and lie, but unimportant. Christ's tomb is important, but where's that?
Do we get scripture from Christs tomb or Christ himself? The tomb is very little significance and doesn't call into the question of Jesus being a lier now does it? Did some peoplewitniss the Golden plates going up to heaven? There were many witnesses about the dead rising from thier graves and the whole tourmolt in the city that tried to be coverred up. (thanks again for getting back to me though I've never really talked to a mormon about this stuff directly before)
Exactly, and there are witnesses that the plates were actually handled by Joseph Smith. As far as being taken into Heaven, that's not important, but that the plates alone existed... There are witnesses of Joseph Smith healing others, but rumor and distortion have blinded us of them... People say he was racist, he was a pervert... They even proclaimed him to say, after all else, that there were Quakers on the Moon... -___- And I'm more than happy to talk to you, and answer any questions, ty
@LDSseminaryStudent Thanks just going back to some of my previous questions were 1) what would you say are some of the diffrences between Mormons and Baptists then and (who were these Witnesses that you are reffering too) and I've heard rumors that Smith was in the Masons (I think it was reported that when being shot he help his arms up in a square like thing to signal others for help) Any thoughts on this?
@LDSseminaryStudent Also I heard A rumor that said that Smith also Divorced his wife this would be a very unbiblical thing to do (Any thoughts on this?)
Joseph Smith loved Emma Hale to his last dying breath, it is another rumor and pay it no heed. Being with his family was the perhaps the most important thing to Joseph, especially after the death of his brother Alvin. Emma was his best friend, and he loved her, he wanted to spend an eternity with her.
@LDSseminaryStudent Again thanks for answerring some question I see I'm only getting particial responses though. Anywho thanks (As in regard to mahusigh) Im calling into question things to find trueth haven't slanderred any name or deed yet. I also just read today that Smith had many wives? Does your religion practice married to more than one wife ? Because I thought Jesus made it clear that Its only one and not to divorce for any reason Except cheating physically? What say you?
Well the thing about plural marriage, and what brings in such controversy, is the way you look at it. If you see it as marrying to satisfy for lust as the world does, or see women as objects, then plural marriage should not be practiced. We do not practice plural marriage, as some would, and do, say we still do in secret. It is a lie, brought about by the FLDS church. They're a distant and corrupt branch of the faith, I believe. A lot of controversy and distortions surround this... out of _
the old hymns were sang in days of revival along with the kjv.the old paths we are to remember the bible teaches.the modern choruses seem to sing the church this, the church that...hymns should be about Jesus, God our Father and theHoly Spirit.God, not the church must be the focus of our words, however doctrinally correct they may be.
we love Jesus, because he first loved us...and gave himself for us...being put to death in the flesh...that he might bring us to God.the unbelievers sadly perish
I dont mean to seem harsh guys, but im apologetic toward the mormon faith. Its a false doctrine and you gotta see that. God warned of false doctrines like this.
Utimately, and do not say this is blaphemy because I simply use what God has put on this earth to guide us, Joseph smith was deceived when he received the doctrine. Im aware that he was in the presence of an "angel" of a dead warrior :[ sigh. Here- 2 Corinthians 11:14- And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
what make you think the Mormon church is a lie? the servants of the lord would ask if the book of mormon is truth. i can tell you new that i have been a member of this church all my live. i know that the prophet Joseph Smith was a prophet of god. Why dont you read James 1:5 and then ask the lord if the Mormon church is true.
The book of Mormon has no corroborating evidence from archeology to back up it's claims. Joseph Smith had multiple wives clearly going against the teachings in Genesis OF THE TWO being ONE flesh moreover this saying was reiterated by Christ himself! By their fruits you will know!
So does scripture need archaeological evidence to be true? Or are we asked to exercise faith?
If you think Joseph Smith was the first religious figure to practice plural marriage you have never apparently read The Holy Bible.
The prophet Amos prophesies of a falling away from the truth before the second coming. The true Church of Jesus Christ was lost when all priesthood holders were rejected and killed, and restored when a new Prophet was called of God.
The difference is the people in the Bible who did Polygamy did it against God's authority and the Bible simply recorded what they did! However, with Joseph Smith he deemed it a decree by God to allow this, this is my issue a fault with his teachings. As far as archaeological evidence it backs up things. If I say or claim something and say God told me this (as Joseph Smith did) then the evidence points that, that isn't what happens it means I'm a liar.
I understand that you have been a member of the church. I understand that being so all your life makes it hard to see otherwise. But the Bible has already told us that there will be a false doctrines and teachings like this. Read Isaiah 30:10. False religions have to undermind the bible to support their doctrines. otherwise their doctrines would not make one bit of sense and they know it, You asked me to pray to God and ask about it He wouldnt lie to me and say its the truth, Jesus is the truth
Its right there for us and we either follow the truth or follow the lies. Mathew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves — Matthew 7:15
I mean these guys go out and hunt for people that God really wants and to provide the truth.
Absolutely we should be aware of false prophets. But we should not substitute the Holy spirit's answers with our own attempt of reasoning. The apostle James instructed us to pray to know the truthfulness of anything. Moroni of the Book of Mormon has left us with the same council. If you think you know better than your Father in Heaven, well, good luck, I certainly do not.
Gods Word is ultimatly what convinces me that any other 'doctrines' or bibles' are all tryin to contradict the Bible- Revelation 22:18-19 "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes way from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
Mormons are not christians. - The Book of the mormon states that Jesus is the brother of lucifer- No my friend. Jesus is God. He created lucifer. Its called the Trinity. Godhead 3 in 1. #2. The book of the mormons events that happened over the years...never EVER took place. there is no evidence whatsoever. Look around. Do you honeslty see anything true and alive about it? Jesus in the bible is not the Jesus in book of the mormon.
@R5SF3jintW arg, by meaning everyone is brothers and sisters even Jesus is and Satan are spiritually but, satan and jesus are not blood relatives on earth!
The reason i don't bother with the book of the mormon is because there is nothing in there that God has written bud. God did not have that book sent down from heaven to teach us the Word. No, He sent us the Bible. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth..i love puttng it that way. The Bible is what we should trust. not the book of the mormon. . you need to understand that its not from God and Jesus would have never taught from it. He gave us His one Word. the Bible and I'm stickin with it bud.
The Council of Nicea was a council of Bishops and it was inspired by the Holy Spirit. I just don't see how somone can claim to be a Christian if they reject all the teachings of that council.
Thou leadest home the child of God,
and Christ our Lord the way hath trod: (R)
Let all things their Creator bless,
and worship him in humbleness,
O praise him, Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
and praise the Spirit, Three in One: (R)

Sorry to post again but here is the verse (lyrics are attributed to St. Francis of Assisi but so are a lot of things...):
And thou most kind and gentle Death,
Waiting to hush our latest breath,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou leadest home the child of God,
And Christ our Lord the way hath trod.
As my father was in great agony in his last days, this verse gave me immense comfort and I hope it will for someone else.

God Bless.

Astonishingly moving and uplifting, even for an old agnostic like me. What a brilliant idea to combine such a video with this hymn! It's given me a colossal buzz such as I never normally experience apart from when listening to the symphonies of Anton Bruckner. Thy symphonies or the masses.

Even though Mormon religion is fake, I'd feel sorry if God-believers like them go to hell.
startug 1 year ago
@startug God will judge each of us according to what we have been taught and what we are able to discern as we pass through life. What of the people who lived and died never hearing of God or Jesus?
Surely God will be fair in all things.
If He is not fair, He doesn't deserve to be God. That is what makes Him so awesome.
flintstone9812 1 year ago
@flintstone9812 I have a good feeling that Mormons do go to heaven for believing and loving Jesus and God. I've seen Mormons, and some really love God and Jesus, and I know God would never hate them.
startug 1 year ago
@startug You're correct that God doesn't hate Mormons. He doesn't hate Protestants, Lutherans, Anglicans, Jews, Bhuddists, Hindus, athiests, or anyone. What he does do, however, is expect them all to realize that the Catholic Church is the true Church, entrusted to Peter by Jesus himself. As such, the whole world, and every single person in it, should be Catholic. If someone fails to do that, they open the door to hell themselves.
mikenephilly 1 year ago
@mikenephilly Protestants go to heaven too, Lutherans as well. I'm not sure about the Mormons though.
startug 1 year ago
@startug Sorry, but that's not correct. If you don't believe in the one true Church - the Catholic Church - you're in schism and don't go to heaven.
mikenephilly 1 year ago
@mikenephilly No, that's bullshit. Catholics AND Protestants go to heaven. As long as you believe in Jesus, heaven it is.
startug 1 year ago
@startug Yeah, good luck with that theory. Matthew 10:14 - "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet."
mikenephilly 1 year ago
@mikenephilly Yes, that means you have to receive Jesus. It appears you are the one reading it wrong and cursing on other Christians.

You're confusing God's mercy with "tolorance". For a certain time you're given room to come to know Him as Lord and saviour but after that if you still refuse then all that is left is judgement, no different then someone on trial and having to go to jail or in this case hell which is seperation from God and is why it's so bad and tourmenting.

he is omnipotent. trial and tribulation are part of Gods plan to help us grow. we all experience trials, how we react to it becomes the statement of our character. do we look for ways to serve and ease Haiti 's pain? or do we deny our God over it.
tragedy and trial do not disprove a God but verify him. He said that yes we would have challenges like now in Haiti. now it's our turn to react.
also if God is the very giver of life then yes he may take it also.

Mathiassss 2 years ago
You'll hear a lot about Mormons... I'd hardly call South Park a documentary, but you must check your sources my friend. Would we confer upon Blacks or Native Americans the priesthood if we thought them to be condemned by Cain? It doesn't matter if you're African American, Native American, Spanish, Brazilian, or Islamic, we are all the same in God's eyes. There is a distorted image in what you have been told. The BOM clears all up about this my friend.
LDSseminaryStudent 2 years ago
@LDSseminaryStudent So you're saying the version that south part said was wrong and the Native Americans weren't cursed and had their skin changed? because I've heard from what I believe to be reliable sources that this gives people fuel for the fire when they discriminate against people of certain color I agree that we are all the same in Gods eyes Guilty sinners and in need of a savior In summery what did south park get wrong in their 30 min stuff?
Mathiassss 2 years ago
I don't watch South Park, finding that in the few instances that I've caught glimpse of a portion it mocked Jesus Christ himself. If a show mocks our Savior, is it not sensible for us to not note it for 100% truths? South Park is credible for presenting ideas, but in distorted comical contexts... I do not mean to down you, but only strike misinformity, I mean only to show you what Mormonst truly believe, my friend.... LDS members do not discriminate... They allow all men the priesthood.
LDSseminaryStudent 2 years ago
I take no offense and I know that they do a lot of mockery with the Theological idea's. Even so much as mocking Christ. Those shows I do not whatch and I tell others not to whatch them. Yet some are just funny. And I am glad to hear that you too believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. And the Color thing. Yet that still doesn't answer all my questions. 1 Peter 3:15.. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
Mathiassss 2 years ago
Actually the mormon Bible claims Jesus was not God but a angel right? Have you read Romans where it says who can condem it is God who Judges can an angel remove Judgement? The only thing that can and could ever save us from sin/death is God or an Act of God for "He Judges" thats why we're called not to judge others because its not us who judges it God. In short if you believe the mormon Stuff you have an angel dying for you as for us we have Christ who is God in the flesh not angel. Selah?
Mathiassss 2 years ago
God, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one as far as being of one mind, but they are separate individuals. We believe Christ came, in the flesh, and suffered in Gethsemane and upon the cross after performing many miracles. He was resurrected from the sepulchre, which may be where the angel distortion comes in, but in a very real literal sense we believe Christ to be a God. In Abraham it even refers to "Gods" creating the Earth... But there can be distortions from that....
LDSseminaryStudent 2 years ago
@LDSseminaryStudent Also I find it very hard how some who claimed to knowledge of a revilation from Jesus Christ or something from God would keep it a secret Jesus himself Did nothing in secret and spoke openly In fact when question by pilot and the Pharisys when they asked him about his preaching he said go ask others what I preached for I spoke openly and did nothing in secret Why then all the secrecey in tablet form? prophets too spoke openly? why this sudden change?
Mathiassss 2 years ago
Joseph Smith spoke openly of his revelation from the beginning. When he was but 14 then onward people refused to open their hearts to the possibility that he, a naive adolescent, would see God and Christ, but not them. Mobs tried to rob him of his "golden tablets" several times, and when he actually shared 116, or so, pages of translations they were lost. Yet his works are not kept from any. The Book of Mormon, PGP, D&C, and the soon to come JS translation of the entire Bible.
LDSseminaryStudent 2 years ago
Thanks that helps a bit now Im glad to hear that he spoke openly about this revilation . The Bible we have is kept for all the world to study? I.E. the dead sea scrolls.but what about this Book and see'er stones? Moses kept the staff for all to see and the Ark was kept for all to see The Ark was stolen too but that didn't mean it stayed stolen? God doesn't need a steel vault or gaurds to protect his work. From what I know the Book and Stones are not for open study or even found?
Mathiassss 2 years ago
Well, the golden plates were taken back up to Heaven, but it doesn't directly tell us what happened to the "seer stones" or "breastplated" that Joseph Smith found. They could have been taken too... If I ever got the chance I'd ask an Apostle or the Prophet, but I don't see that opportunity coming anytime soon. The stones and plates therefore are one of the things Anit- Mormons delve into with rumor and lie, but unimportant. Christ's tomb is important, but where's that?
LDSseminaryStudent 2 years ago
Do we get scripture from Christs tomb or Christ himself? The tomb is very little significance and doesn't call into the question of Jesus being a lier now does it? Did some peoplewitniss the Golden plates going up to heaven? There were many witnesses about the dead rising from thier graves and the whole tourmolt in the city that tried to be coverred up. (thanks again for getting back to me though I've never really talked to a mormon about this stuff directly before)
Mathiassss 1 year ago
Exactly, and there are witnesses that the plates were actually handled by Joseph Smith. As far as being taken into Heaven, that's not important, but that the plates alone existed... There are witnesses of Joseph Smith healing others, but rumor and distortion have blinded us of them... People say he was racist, he was a pervert... They even proclaimed him to say, after all else, that there were Quakers on the Moon... -___- And I'm more than happy to talk to you, and answer any questions, ty
LDSseminaryStudent 1 year ago
@LDSseminaryStudent Thanks just going back to some of my previous questions were 1) what would you say are some of the diffrences between Mormons and Baptists then and (who were these Witnesses that you are reffering too) and I've heard rumors that Smith was in the Masons (I think it was reported that when being shot he help his arms up in a square like thing to signal others for help) Any thoughts on this?
Mathiassss 1 year ago
@LDSseminaryStudent Also I heard A rumor that said that Smith also Divorced his wife this would be a very unbiblical thing to do (Any thoughts on this?)
Mathiassss 1 year ago
Joseph Smith loved Emma Hale to his last dying breath, it is another rumor and pay it no heed. Being with his family was the perhaps the most important thing to Joseph, especially after the death of his brother Alvin. Emma was his best friend, and he loved her, he wanted to spend an eternity with her.
LDSseminaryStudent 1 year ago
@LDSseminaryStudent Again thanks for answerring some question I see I'm only getting particial responses though. Anywho thanks (As in regard to mahusigh) Im calling into question things to find trueth haven't slanderred any name or deed yet. I also just read today that Smith had many wives? Does your religion practice married to more than one wife ? Because I thought Jesus made it clear that Its only one and not to divorce for any reason Except cheating physically? What say you?
Mathiassss 1 year ago
Well the thing about plural marriage, and what brings in such controversy, is the way you look at it. If you see it as marrying to satisfy for lust as the world does, or see women as objects, then plural marriage should not be practiced. We do not practice plural marriage, as some would, and do, say we still do in secret. It is a lie, brought about by the FLDS church. They're a distant and corrupt branch of the faith, I believe. A lot of controversy and distortions surround this... out of _

R5SF3jintW 2 years ago
what make you think the Mormon church is a lie? the servants of the lord would ask if the book of mormon is truth. i can tell you new that i have been a member of this church all my live. i know that the prophet Joseph Smith was a prophet of god. Why dont you read James 1:5 and then ask the lord if the Mormon church is true.
alanna09618 2 years ago
The book of Mormon has no corroborating evidence from archeology to back up it's claims. Joseph Smith had multiple wives clearly going against the teachings in Genesis OF THE TWO being ONE flesh moreover this saying was reiterated by Christ himself! By their fruits you will know!
james48890743 2 years ago
Forgive me if i sent that to you, im not sure if i did or not, but it was not meant to be sent to you, sorry ^^
R5SF3jintW 2 years ago
So does scripture need archaeological evidence to be true? Or are we asked to exercise faith?
If you think Joseph Smith was the first religious figure to practice plural marriage you have never apparently read The Holy Bible.
The prophet Amos prophesies of a falling away from the truth before the second coming. The true Church of Jesus Christ was lost when all priesthood holders were rejected and killed, and restored when a new Prophet was called of God.
DKeeler21 2 years ago
The difference is the people in the Bible who did Polygamy did it against God's authority and the Bible simply recorded what they did! However, with Joseph Smith he deemed it a decree by God to allow this, this is my issue a fault with his teachings. As far as archaeological evidence it backs up things. If I say or claim something and say God told me this (as Joseph Smith did) then the evidence points that, that isn't what happens it means I'm a liar.
james48890743 2 years ago
I understand that you have been a member of the church. I understand that being so all your life makes it hard to see otherwise. But the Bible has already told us that there will be a false doctrines and teachings like this. Read Isaiah 30:10. False religions have to undermind the bible to support their doctrines. otherwise their doctrines would not make one bit of sense and they know it, You asked me to pray to God and ask about it He wouldnt lie to me and say its the truth, Jesus is the truth
R5SF3jintW 2 years ago
Its right there for us and we either follow the truth or follow the lies. Mathew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves — Matthew 7:15
I mean these guys go out and hunt for people that God really wants and to provide the truth.
R5SF3jintW 2 years ago
Absolutely we should be aware of false prophets. But we should not substitute the Holy spirit's answers with our own attempt of reasoning. The apostle James instructed us to pray to know the truthfulness of anything. Moroni of the Book of Mormon has left us with the same council. If you think you know better than your Father in Heaven, well, good luck, I certainly do not.
DKeeler21 2 years ago
Gods Word is ultimatly what convinces me that any other 'doctrines' or bibles' are all tryin to contradict the Bible- Revelation 22:18-19 "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes way from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

When it comes to my faith, I follow prophets, not politicians.
I know that Christ has atoned for our sins, and that our father in heaven loves all of us.
We were commanded by God to put faith in the words of the prophets, not the words of the councilmen.

I guess a false prophet is a type of prophet.
The Council of Nicea was a council of Bishops and it was inspired by the Holy Spirit. I just don't see how somone can claim to be a Christian if they reject all the teachings of that council.
