Ramba Somdete is the man who can deal with Muay Thai & Wrestling in MMA.He's open minded & willing to learn different martial art, even no need to fight under MUAY THAI RULES has earned a lot of respect around the world!
lets make the rule inside the ring theres no rule..if you are a muaythai fighter you should fight as a muaythai rule and if you are a sanda fight san da rules..lets see whos gonna win...MUAYTHAI RULES!!!!!
Yeah with throwing, it does deal effectively against the Muay Thai clinch. But personally, I think someone trained in Muay Thai and Wrestling for MMA competition would handle a Sanda guy.
ultimately, with the grappling aspects of these matches, sanda will eventually surpass muay thai as these matches are not striking alone. its basically mma without the submissions and wrestling / ground game. i guess these guys have to teach themselves some form of grappling as they limit themselves to only striking when grappling is involved.i dont count the M.T clinch
why do people always argue which martial art is better and then bring racial issues. facts about these competition to clear things up:
1. Sanda will stand very little chance if knee and elbow gave points because sanda really dont use those attacks in competition. (would be unfair in a way)
2. Sanda won because its kick are faster combined with throws. Muay thai kicks slower and shorter ranged but a lot stronger.
3. You cant have a no rules fights with competition martial arts, wont work.
yes yes i know the punch..it seems that he was retaking from that solid back fist....but that DIRTY hook was devastating....anyway..to me they always seem dirty....and no show fight...and many years that is like that....no interest no crowd
the fact that lose all the time because you have nothing to back you up so you copy what others tell you or the fact that your own information is shit. ^-^
how many times you have seen muy thai fighters kicking peoplo when they are done...a lot..if you know something about fighting you know that the adrenaline is pumping is why you have referees...
@Alkaski whats it got to do with a nation? hes just a fighter what do you expect from a fighter? LOL show fighting doesnt really have discipline of true martial arts.
@Alkaski nonsesne. he didint get carried away, it was damn obvious he was trying to kick the guy though he was down. see the slight pause and hesitation and he still kicked the guy. no respect wat soever. i hate the way sanda ppl fight. its freaking hit and run pussies.
I guess that could be true, but throws themselves are powerful and very overwhelming weapons. I think it would simply be best if MT vs Sanda had full MT rules with the addition of throws. Then nobody's at a disadvantage.
Plus, if elbows and clinch knees are allowed in such matchups, then what is stopping the Sanda fighter from using them too? I personally think MT rules with throws allowed would be best.
@redeyedol Indeed Sanda fighters can use them too, but the thing is they aren't trained to use elbows & knees like the Thais. I also think that MT rules that allow for scoring with throws would be great, but these fights being in China, it wouldn't be possible.
@redeyedol > Yep, it's said that in China, you can only win by KO. Otherwise, your opponent will autowin by points (even if they give him a "injury break" until 5 secs before the fights end, when he runs the risk of going down).
In this fight, the chinese fighter scored an undoubted KO, so his victory was all right. But for kicking an opponent on the ground, I wouldn't mind him being disqualified...
No they did not. Most of the controversial news leading up to the fights are cooked up by the promoters to catch ppl's attention and stir up nationalistic pride.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Sanda is pretty much Muay Thai with a stronger sidekick as far as I can tell.
MobiusCoin 2 years ago
actually no, even though Sanda uses knees and elbows as well, but the main tactic Sanda focus is punch, sidekick, and throwing (by Chinese wrestling)

That's called a missed punch. It happens all the time in boxing, kickboxing, and MMA. Stop whining. The spinning backhand was the knockout blow.

hi fellow sg here... are they fighting at sanda rules or muay thai rules?
weiming1991 2 years ago
Sanda rules, but Thais are allowed to use all their weapons. The catch is points will not be awarded for elbows and knees in the clinch.
crane76 2 years ago
@crane76
If that's so, doesn't that put Muay Thai at a disadvantage by default? No points for elbows and knees in clinch, wth is that?
redeyedol 1 year ago
@redeyedol Not really cos Sanda doesn't use those weapons much and the fact that they inflict strong damage on an opponent even without points.

Ah I see. Then I guess yeah, this is just China protecting its own fighters with biased rules.
Maybe they should hold Sanda vs MT elsewhere..
