  • wow. thats all u can say.

  • sadly i was only a child when this was out,but it sounds better than the music they make now!XD

  • matthew hasn't change at all its incredible

  • this song makes me cry.... honestly

  • glad thy changed for the better,,love there new stuff,, fan @ sex is on fire !!!

  • 70s Leon was the best. Although this was 2003.

  • They were cool, and they still being cool today. They're not playing pop now, they just became known. so what is your argument?

  • they are soooo much hotter now :) love this song tho

  • don't listen barnettarmy, come to Europe Kings!

  • Come back to America Kings!

  • before the hair cuts the shaved beards and the suck

  • i wish i was Nathan's microphone

  • the kings of leon I miss. it just sucks hearing like molly chambers and now hearing sex on fire just so ughhh

  • @penguinseth I'm not going to lie, I loved them so much more before, but I'm just saying it's pathetic that people comment saying that they're all shit now. I didn't say anything about their music before, I personally listen to their old stuff way more. So here is an idea, go away and listen to the music you enjoy best, and stop complaining, because I'm not interested in your pathetic comments.

  • Some people laugh at Jared's funny bass guitar moment faces. But i just it's so raw and honest, and when we all pretend to be rockstars those ARE the faces we make.

I know we love their first three albums more, and sometimes i wonder whether we dislike Only By The Night purely because the masses love it (or claim to) but you've got to admit, they've still got that something. Just something that we'll never be able to put our finger on, which means we'll never be able to take it away from them

  • why? why do people post shitty comments like that, of course they're going to change, nothing stays the same dicks, anyways I don't get it, it's not as if they're shit now, they're still pretty unique. So if you don't like the music Kings Of Leon make now, then you can go fuck off, and complain somewhere else. Because us fans, don't really care about what you think, bitches.

  • @sitibeano dude the real fans liked them before their sex was on fire...of course bands change but damn they went mainstream and aren't the same band i fell in love with. They really aren't very unique anymore so you can fuck off cause the real fans that loved them before they were popular just want the badass KOL back...not the fucking gossip girl KOL

  • whats happened to this band man? thirst 3 albums amazing then went to crap and started making average chart music.

  • Amazing! The 'real' band I first saw in that year live and thought were the best band on the planet for a few years. Where did it all go wrong? Thank you for this it brought back so many memories of all the early gigs of theirs I went to in small British venues, some where ticket touts couldn't give tickets away.

  • Es una de las mejores cansiones... extraño este estilo... saludos desde MEXICO!!

  • What two people on God's green Earth could dislike this??? No seriously, no, seriously. No, Seriously. NO....SERIOUSLY!!!!!

  • I watch this video almost every single night before I go to sleep. It's such a beautiful song and I like this live version rather than the recorded for some reason. Kings of Leon are amazing, always have been, always will be.

  • Dude, I loved his glasses. I want one of these.

  • @ande1207 haha good question......give me soft an happy alone anyday over use somebody an radio active

  • BRING BACK: the bad haircuts, bushy beards, moustaches, womans glasses, middriffs, slurry speech, Tenasee accent, the "wear whatever" dress code, lyrics written for feel not money, country tone, kickass attitute and music that was played with heart.

Because that is how people fell in love with you......WAKE UP

  • Baby Jared was so cute!

  • I love KOL but Caleb looks like a confused Tennessee tranny in that get-up, LMAO

  • where can i download this exact video man? i love it

  • Bring back the 70's look!

  • I want those sun glasses :O

  • Ahh, back when Kings of Leon were cool. I miss those days.

  • @MrNosurprises are they not cool now cause there mainstream?

  • @MrNosurprises True KOL fans have been with them since Holy Roller Novocaine, can appreciate Only By The Night and Come Around Sundown... and will understand and love what comes next. Every album is a different faze of their lives. If they're too mainstream for you then go be 'indie' somewhere else

  • @MrNosurprises If you were a true KOL fan, then they're still cool.

  • @MrNosurprises They still are cool =] dispite some overplayed singles.

  • @MrNosurprises Why aren't they cool now? This hipster way of thinking is so annoying.

  • @xarepe1 it's not a 'hipster' way of thinking at all. It's not about the fact that they're well-known now. They were just as well-known back in 2006, just not as commercial. It's about how their music style has changed completely. Their first 3 albums were brilliant in their writing and compelling in their music and then in 2008 it all changed drastically. It's just sad.

  • @xarepe1 You go on youtube and start typing in 'kings of leon' and the first thing that comes up is 'use somebody' followed by (not even spelled correctly) 'sexes on fire'. Whatever happened to classics like 'holy roller novocaine', 'razz', 'pistol of fire' and 'wasted time'. It's all long forgotten by kings themselves and under-appreciated by the present-day "fans"

  • @xEglex Look I get what you're saying. I knew KOL since their album Y&YM. I used to talk about them to people I knew and no one knew them and then, a few years later, everybody said they were their favorite band just because they liked Use Somebody a lot. It's a bit lame. Same thing happened with Muse and with Radiohead. The thing is, it's not that they're songs are worse. They just were given more attention for the more commercial ones. It's a natural thing to happen.

  • @xEglex There's one thing in which I can agree with you though. It's a fact that they never made another song like Pistol Of Fire or Red Morning light. I give you that but it's a result of their growth as a band. Their sound evolved and so did their style. Now, I wasn't calling YOU hipster, I was calling it to those who call sell outs to a band when they get their first song on the charts. Given the state of commercial music today, it's a good thing bands like KOL can actually get there.

  • @MrNosurprises They are still cool..

  • They have and always will be cool cause they play/look however the hell they want.

  • i love kol- but caleb looks so much sexier now

  • Golden days of KOL. Good to see this stuff. Great video.

  • clonard, opinions are like assholes, you know the rest,,,,

  • Words can't describe how much i dislike this bunch of silly haired cunts! there music fuckin sucks. that voice is plain irritating. they are an overrated mess.

  • @clonard the you shouldn't stop by, FUCK OFF!!!

  • @thedrareg you first asshole...

  • @clonard Surely if you don't like the band, you shouldn't be watching them on here?

  • I would do anything to be Caleb he is cool as fuck!

  • I'm getting a lyric from this song tattoo'd on me; The truth, you've been gone for a while.

  • ... what a horrible haircut.

  • the singer makes me remember "amelie poulain" XD

  • this is beautiful! thank you so much for uploading it

  • this has become my new favorite song

  • I luv ittttttttttttttt

  • "you're losing mind" best part of the song

  • I love the way they used to dress, so retro and stylish... they broughtmore to it than just jeans and a t-shirt...

  • who gave this video a thumbs down ?!!!!!

  • fuck what happened to these guys, i want them back

  • this songs reminds me of my brother ...

  • i love calebs guitar

  • BEST BAND EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can we have this band back please

  • Yoouree loosing your mind!!..

they look like of they were on the 70's!

    love'them!&their music too!<3

  • is this 2003 or 197X ? ;)

  • I fucking love this band

  • I love how he says "that's alright" after the "your such a slut sometimes" lol priceless

  • @DrPepperJKM I read cheesy comments all the time but ive literally thought about this song and this comment all week. Its fucking awesome.

  • also, this is my favorite song after trani!

  • 1:36 Jared is so nervous!

  • @Bizlok21 no, he's just stoned

  • i think kol are great ive grown up listening to them and i honestly think the new music theyre producing is still a reflection of themselves and experiences theyve encountered i think theyre music changed because they grew up they took less drugs partyd less and they had different views on life and whats important the only reason they became well known is because they released a song that said sex in it and you have to admit tsstill a good song eventhough it is overplayed !

  • could not have said it better myself

  • i av just red these comments ..fekkin class well writen great band thx 4 the input:)

  • Good times KOL.

  • brutal

  • : [ this makes me reallly sad... i miss the pre famous kings!!

  • with music this good they would eventually break out...i still listen to their old stuff unlike other fake people who know them from "Use somebody"

  • Eventually break out? If your into the band you would know they broke out a long time ago. All these children are finally catching on.

  • damn straight

  • absolute brilliant!

  • What strikes me is not their musical style progression, but the fact that they came up with lyrics so profound at such a young age.

    True genius.

  • Kings of Leon 2003... the good old days.... now.... soundtrack of twilight ??!!! all the passion is gone. pity

  • The early day stuff will never be ruined. No matter what gimpy wee movie its in...

  • what's this about soundtrack of twilight?????

  • are they in the twilight soundtrack?? they don´t, they rejected as far as I know....

  • No they're not.. I'd say your thinking of Muse or something...

  • THIS is kings of leon, fuck the new stuff.

    Miss them

  • the new stuff is kings of leon too...just like this is ofcourse, but wow...i hate to break it to u, but a bands job is to stay new, creative, try new things, branch out, should i go on? sorry u dont like the newer stuff, but thats a damn shame, u just like the style of the music, not kings of leon themselves, as musicians...how about u pick up an instrument, learn to play, and tell me if u play the SAME THING/STYLE year after year after year..u wont...

but hey, have fun in 03 ur whole life

  • I hear this every time, i liked them as a band, to say Because of the times is the same as this is idiotic, yet i love that whole album. and before you lecture me i play guitar i have a 335. They changed their style for commercial reasons not to experiment musicaly. And how is liking their songs/and music and not their current status not liking them "as musicians". To like their music should never be affected by liking them as people so i dont know what you mean by that i'm affraid.

  • see u ASSUME they changed for commerical reasons..but thats b/c u dont like the new stuff..the fact is (and u should know this b/c u play) that its gonna happen. dont sit their & say its for commercial reasons, just b/c u dont like the new stuff..its the same age old story...its cliche and very lame...they write music for THEM, not anyone else. so dont make up stupid excuses just b/c they didnt go the direction u wanted..running out of room, so shoot me a msg if u really wanna break it all down

  • I and others like me are not giving ourselves an excuse for not likeing them, your correct its an age old cliche, this is why im so disapointed. To call them sell outs isn't that far from true, take your age old cliche and compare it to the band's story. I still have alot of respect for them and if they decide to release a good 5th then i wont slate it for no reason.

It would seem to most people out there that their style changed in order to become more popular, its every where. dont denie it

  • i agree that their style has changed alil bit, but its nothing so off course to think that stuff..they're still the KOL, its sounds like a normal progression of style every great band does. and yes, i agree that it is everywhere. but thats ultimately the goal for every artist. and since its still them writing and playing the songs (not manufactured by others) makes all that a good thing. they are still humble and crazy brothers that are still doing the same thing since the beginning having fun

  • i dont deny its out there, see u think they changed to get more popular. i think they change b/c thats what bands do, and they got more popular, b/c of more radio play. they would have been this big back then, but their sound didnt get to alot of people..and now that it is, u say its for commercial reasons?...it doesnt make any sense. THEY even said THIS is the stuff they wanted to play then, but didnt have the capability to do it, but you STILL say for commercial reasons? its for them..

  • The only opposition I have to offer towards your comment is that KoL were being new and creative and trying new things. It's that genius that go them where they are. Now, they tend to sound a slightest bit more main stream. Kind of like bencc93 said, they changed for commercial reasons, not for a lack of creativity. However, after all that being said, I still love Kings' today. Someday, they'll come back with their old sound and everyone will love it once more. Or at least, I hope so.

  • there is no "sound" of mainstream.

& its not for commercial reasons. they still write for them, noone else. they got big b/c of more promotion, simple as that, more radio play.

&, no, they wont go back to their old sound, u know why? b/c its old! what kinda CREATIVITY is it to go back to something uve already done? its just not gonna happen. & there really is no old sound, EVERY CD sounds different, just like a great band is suppose to do..just sucks everyone pisses on a good thing for nothing

  • They see their music as a career now, creativity is always the force behind 1st and 2nd albums. I'm saying i miss their creativity.

I just dont respect the way their "career" evolved...

  • the bottom line is, they use to be urs..when u have a great band as good as these guys, & they arnt famous, its a very intimate feeling. & when they get big, the intimacy is gone..its like the VIP room..it was VIP when only a few people knew about them. but what good is a VIP room if EVERYONE can get in? its no fun anymore thats whats fueling ur opinion

great bands HAVE to see it as a career from the start. they have nothing else.. they did what theyre suppose to do, & u dont respect that?

  • Obviously it sucks a bit when you loose a "pocket band" as they call it.

But it sucks worse when it isnt because of people catching on to their good music, and catching on to their new guff.

I respect bands need to make money but i dont respect when money drives the writing/producing process. And it quite clearly has, caleb damn near admits it in multiple videos and inter views and articles

  • how can you even assume that money drives the writing/producing process?

and yes ive seen interviews where he talks about money..but what does that have to do with the writing process? making money is awesome, but even they stated this is the music they wish they could have wrote then, they just didnt have the capability to do it. thats what they were gonna do, money or not. the money is just a bonus (as KOL says)

im sorry u feel that way, but money def didnt drive the writing. u gotta c that.

  • Like i've said they damn near admit it. I suppose we are talking about different interviews.

mate im glad for you because you still like/ respect them. i wish i still did.

  • i think if you would just listen to them, without assuming everything, you still could respect them.

listen to the music man...nothing more, and nothing less...just listen to the music. that is the only thing that matters. "cold desert" comes to mind. if any new song could help, it would be that one..written out of pure drunken (freestyling) passion...straight from the heart. he only wrote the lyrics to the first verse, everything else is pure freestyle in the moment for the moment..

  • Trust me, i bought it the day it came out and cold desert and 17 where my favourites. But honestly i dont even think the music meets their standards.

if they decide to make a good 5th then im not going to hate on it. their just goin thru a bad phase i hope

  • what interview is this?

  • That makes no sense you cant just get the ability to write, you write what you feel and obviously they felt that money was important so they started writing songs that are very mainstream songs. saying they wish they could have the written the stuff now back then is a lie because then they would have.

  • u do write what u feel..but u cant just say "i want money" and write a good song, u still have to be good creative artists. u dont get it do u? what do u do with ur life? try to make money? thats what i thought..dont call them out on something that u have to do too..they have nothing else, they HAVE to make money, whether it has to do with the music or not.

    "b/c then they would have"

they didnt have the ABILITY to do it then, their words not mine.

u really have no idea what ur talking about..

  • you can write a song with money as a motive and still be creative i never implied they lost their creativity but if they really wanted to write the songs they do now back then they would have if you claim the bassist wasnt good enough than they would have got around it somehow because he was fine on the earlier stuff its not like he had no talent

  • im was (and they were) talking about the whole band, not just the bassist.

even if u can play an instrument good, their still inexperienced with writing music together

do u play an instrument? have u ever started a band? its not as simple as 123

everyone has to like everything, 4 completely different paths have to come to the same thing. & thats not as easy as it sounds, especially when ur starting out. now they know each other better as musicians, so its easier to write what they really want

  • you guys know they have major help writing songs.

  • No they don't! They write the songs themselves. They only had help writing them on the first record. Their producer co-wrote the songs.

  • very true and well put

  • I prefer them on this album

  • This is an awesome performance, they sound as good as they look here. I love Jared's bassface.

  • and plus...to everyone who is so quick to start to crucify the band for selling out and claiming they are done listening to them, youre all going to sound like some idiotic hypocrites once youre on here praising KOL in 2010 with the next album saying how you always loved this band haha. If any of these people knew anything about music...the first couple albums from most bands are always the most raw, liked, and critically acclaimed. These guys will continue to make good music for years. enjoy it

  • Wasnt a huge fan of the last cd but with that said, I still listen to it all the time mixed in with their phenomenal old stuff. It's all good to me. Ive been a fan since Y&YM but I hate people who feel like they need an award for have knowing the band before they made it big or something like that so I make sure im not one of those ppl who argue over that petty crap. Yeah they had some shit songs on the past cd but hell was it really that bad? I still find myself enjoying it

  • Shut up! Kings of Leon are Much much more popular now, and they're awsome anyway!

  • the kings new stuff i weak real fans stopped listening safter the third album just addmitt it people they sold out bad!

  • yup, still listen to their old stuff though

  • oh my god. this is my favourite song of KOL. i "know" them since that time too. and now evcerybody just knows "sex on fire" or "use somebody".

    thanks for this uploading.

  • I agree... But this isn't my favourite... Cold Desert is mine... I just love it so much! Generally though, I prefer their older stuff.

  • OK Byron your gonna have to get your own account sheesh lol

  • i need those glasses...any idea what there called?

  • Look like some kinda Ray bans

  • hell yeaaaaaH

  • idk but thats definatley a rare gibson es335 that he plays

    might be custom, prolly not

  • inst that a casino ?

  • it's a gibson es325

  • caleb´s hair is amazing!!!

  • i think his fashion sense here is BRILLIANT!

  • i miss this.

  • hope they come back

  • im going to keep watching these kings, and ignore the other kings that are here now
