The town also had a small combined passenger and freight depot. According to a photo I have seen there was a public sidetrack for the local business's and residents to unload railcar shipments for their town/area. I have read that the station was located on Railroad street between Locust Ave and Trautwine Street.
The Lehigh Valley Railroad was the line that ran through Centrailia. The railroad through Centralia was abandoned between Shenandoah and Mt. Carmel in the mid 60's and supposedly torn out in 1967. This railroad line not only handled "black diamonds" (Anthracite Coal) but also Iron Ore trains for Bethlehem Steel (Bethlehem, PA) which the Lehigh Valley Railroad had direct access to. The Pennsylvania Railroad would bring the Iron Ore from the Great Lakes Region down to Mt. Carmel.
very interesting, i myself am looking forward to taking a trip to centralia some time in the near future. I also really enjoyed all of your vidoes, very informational and interesting
man u can tell your not a local. i used to live there until 1986. on railroad "street" not railroad "drive"...i never heard of a dairy in centralia..atleest my parents/grandparents never spoke of that..are u sure?
There was an old street where I live called Railroad Drive, so I guess that is why I called it that. Now 2 map sources, one of which is google, calls it "avenue."
As for the dairy, I am 100% certain. It began in 1930 and closed in 1948. There was also an ice cream parlor around the same time on Locust ave. This is from Rick McDonnell, grandson of the dairy's owner, John McDonnell. Ebay even has McDonnell's Dairy milk bottles for auction.
Thank you! :) While I feel my commentary was far better than my first trip's videos of Centralia, I still made SOME goofs plus the cold weather was making me cough. :(
As you read in an earlier vid, your cough had concerned me, so you'll know what i mean when i say i'm glad you were coughing from the cold. Centralia's no place for anyone with asthma. Neither is my PA. town! Your cough does sound high pitched. Have you been tested for asthma?

No asthma here. Plus my cough has always been a bit high pitched since I have my mouth more open during a cough.
