I remember when they played this. I believe it was one of the Beautiful Dreamer movies, the Fatal Fury movie, and one other one. It was EPIC! What the hell ever happened to you Sci Fi?!
I thought Japanimation still had something for everyone? I mean, you still have you shows for kids. Then you have the boy/girl shows, teens, and finally (young) adult.
A lot people give credit to Cartoon Network for kicking off the anime boom, but it was really the Sci-Fi Channel that was a secondary launchpad (popular 80's shows like Thundercats, Transformers, the Real Ghostbusters were 1st of course--before it was deemed "anime").
However, movies like Project A-ko, Akira, Vampire Hunter D, & Tenchi became sensations b4 DBZ & even Pokemon hit it big.
Yeah. I remember they used to have all these anime rental places on campus. My mom used to spend SO MUCH money on the stuff. She was the one that got me into it.
Buying it was even more lol.
$20 for a VHS with two episodes was standard. Of course I had no concept of expenses/budgets back then.
@IronKingLeo word i remember when my brother and his friend was the only people in my neighborhood who knew about japanime.I love that word..lol i'm a retrojunk guy lol.
Things changed for bad for sure! Back then everything was AWESOME! but now is tasteless and cliché
