I´m a practising Muslim and there was a time when I wasn´t as interested in religion as I am now. I was moderately interested but now, I really try to...
..try to find answers and do my own research. And to be honest...the deeper I go into researching my faith (and others´), the more I´m reminded of how important it really is. And when I look around me, and inside of me (yes cause no human being is perfect)...I see so many ppl, esp. Muslims..behaving badly, doing the opposite of what their faith says.
Take a look at Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians....and many more who are deep into their faith. Not at...
..at a "show off", external level but at an internal level. Like Sufis for example who never tell anyone they´re sufis, never impose their faith on someone. They´re just there, with all the "noor" (light) radiating from them. They´re so deep into it that their mere presence is a proof of who they are. Same with Hindu babas and Sikh ones...who are just peaceful, never fighting with anyone.
These are prime examples of ppl who really DO take "those books" seriously.
Also, don´t forget that the highlighted cases are always cases of the minority. If one Hindu behaves badly and does something that´s forbidden in Hinduism (like murdering)..does that mean that all Hindus are bad? No, no way. But THAT is the case that media will highlight. @Victorinox99 i mean do you even know that housing discrimination is perfectly legal in india? most of the middle class do not live in single family homes, they live in 'housing colonies' they live in condo's or 'flats'. they are legally discriminated against, in delhi, in bombay and are literally told 'sorry no muslims are allowed' and its perfectly legal thanks to a supreme court order a few years ago. even big actors, shabana azami, imran hashmi have brought up this issue.
