THIS IS NOT JAN AND DEAN SINGING!!!! THIS SONG AND DVD IS A RIP-OFF SINCE IT SAYS JAN AND DEAN IN CONCERT BUT WE NEVER SEE THEM. INSTEAD, WE GET FAKE SINGERS SINGING JAN AND DEAN SONGS LIKE THIS. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND AVOID THE "SURF PARTY" DVD. WISH I HAD........
I wish Southern California was still like that - the surfing, the casual fun, the music, the impromptu parties after a beach day. Now it is 2 trannies for every boy in some sections.
the like 6th grade through teenagers danced to this at the dance recital it was cool they had beach balls and i think another ball or so and some girls held a net and then they went backstage and turned around and they were wearing sunglasses they weren't when they came on stage i don't think and one of my friends when they cae on stage they were holding her and they walked across the stage like 2 girls were holding her there was a lot of people doing the dance though
Yeah I heard in an interview this was originally written for the beach boys. They bumped at the last minute before an album was released. The asked Jan and Dean if they wanted to record it. Brian Wilson sang the opening line " 2 girls for every boy" they stopped him and said "We'll take it"
God I wished I lived there. There are two skanks for every boy here in my hometown hehe. Sometimes 1= enough for 2 skanks lol. Hideously ugly women in Icard NC who think they're beauty queens lol..Surf City here I come :)
Just for information: this isn't the original recording by Jan&Dean, but a later re-recorded version by Dean Torrence and others. Jan Berry quite certain had nothing to do with this...
before SUVs. the car with all the room in the back was called a "station wagon."
originally the station wagons had wooden sides and top (on a metal chassis)..this was in the 1940's.. by the time the surfers were singing about them, it was probably because all the "woodies" left were old (and cheap)
It was written in large part by Brian Wilson for the Beach Boys but he never finished it. He let Jan Berry finish it and produced it for Jan and Dean. Murry Wilson went orbital when he found out that Brian's first number one hit was not for the Beach Boys, but Jan and Dean - who were on another label.
It was Brian's first number one hit - Surfin' USA only made it to #3.
wow the whole time I thought this was Beach Boys....

Jan & Dean rock on!
They should be in the Hall of Fame.
To not have them in is a crime.
