  • It sounds like there are other effects happening with the Pitchfacter. You may want to try adjusting some of the other knobs on the Eventide pedal while you're in oct+ or oct -.

  • Hi! sorry but I think you are not using the right settings on the Pitchfactor for the results you are looking for, check out from 5:40 on of this demo: watch?v=-TFO9movvrs

  • hog!

  • what about you put the pitchfactor on octaver mode instead of diatonic to get a fair comparison. Pitchfactor's octaver is way cleaner than the Hog's octave up/down...

See other videos to get a fair view of the pedals

  • @RamonVerheijen Hi! I think he is not using the right settings on the Pitchfactor for the results he's are looking for, check out from 5:40 on of this demo:

  • hog is terrible. it's only and organ. it's very better spend less money and buy other pedals, maybe POG2. It's one of my big mistake that I made. I think echolutione is more better. By the way, it's my mistake. I hope that was full of sounds but is always organ sound the only that has it. I would like to sell it but no one is interesting. very sad.

  • HOG is a synth.

The PitchFactor samples the original signal and then does pitch shifting.

The HOG pretty much sounds like an organ.

    They are 2 different technologies.

  • awesome playing sir.

this video really helped my decision, thanks!

  • extremely biased demo

and you realize the pitch factor is not even built to do the same thing as the hog ???

  • Interesting. I think tracking can be adjusted with a Attack knob?

  • i guess eventide is a digital shit

  • I' sorry but you have to be MAD really MAD... EH HOG is a octaver sintethizer pedal...

Eventide PitchFactor is an intelligent harmonizer/Octaver with Delay....

Does HOG can play a note on the 3rd in D minor?

Is it able to play the 3rd and the 4th on a user-programmed scale?

  • Hog is the winner

  • Wow, I've been considering a Pitchfactor... but I was shocked at how bad its tracking was for everything in comparison. Still might go with the pitchfactor as I'm mainly needing to do swells/pads but that's unfortunate. Time to watch part two. (Well done btw!)

  • Wow, I've been considering a Pitchfactor... but I was shocked at how bad its tracking was for lower down stuff in comparison. Still might go with the pitchfactor as I'm mainly needing to do swells/pads but that's unfortunate.

  • Who ever said the Eventide was polyphonic? I owned one and never expected it to be nor treated as such. Might as well compare a Boss OC-2 to a Micro POG and bash the OC2 for handling chords badly. Well der!!

  • Well-done, intelligent review.

And I'm glad I just got a HOG.

  • Great review man, thank you very very much! None of the other reviews of the Hog or the PitchFactor on You Tube actually tested their tracking capabilities with fast lines.

    Awesome job.

  • lol 2:17 lets do the hog

  • you know you're in a monophonic mode right...

  • you play nice

  • Both are great pedals imo. The HOG tracks a lot better in hi-speed and tone performances yet i don´t think the Eventide is actually an octave generator pedal talking about main features. i´d keep the Pitchfactor without a doubt for its great real versatility. That box is like a little sound studio where, by the way, it gives its best.

If you look for an octave generator keep the hog.

If you look further than that go buy the freeze and keep the Eventide

  • I 've found the Octaver mode on the Eventide actually tracking much better than the first two modes.

  • Dude you got 10 knobs to get rid of some of the effects you have set on the Eventide,as you call warbely

  • lol, 'very clean' playing man; I really enjoy it! It's nice to hear demos by good sounding players...

  • if i know Eventide, with all the options of their pedals, they probably have a way to control the amount of "warbly sound" you have.

  • @zachisbig I doubt it if the warbly sound is from a problem with the tracking not being fast enough. You're saying there would be a a knob on the Eventide to adjust tracking speed or note tracking accuracy? Not likely.

  • @ryensmith

You can adjust those things to some degree, but this is the absolute best the pedal can do - the only adjustments I can make, make it sound worse. "Not likely" based on what? If you want to buy one and actually test it, I'd be thrilled if you find a way to make it track better/cleaner. Let me know and post a video.

  • @xoliXilox I think you misunderstood my comment. Obviously that was the best tracking the pitchfactor could do; it would have been silly for you to 'turn down' this fabled 'tracking speed knob' the other comment mentioned and then compare...? 'Not likely' meaning there likely isn't a knob that could make the tracking better... as you said that was the 'the best the pedal can do'. Right?

  • @ryensmith Just trying to share what I know. The octave tracks better in the octaver mode. Hope that helps. Also perhaps the new software update might address this problem...

  • Nice video, can I ask you if the wah in the HOG is useable, almost as a crybaby?

    Thanks

  • @qzth its usable, not by any means great, but you can get a usable wah sound if you mix in about 1/4 clean with full original slider, play around with the resonance/filter to taste to get rid of any unwanted buzz. the important thing is to make sure to mix in a little bit of the original clean sound because otherwise the sweep is way way to extreme

  • What's your guitar? sounds awesome

  • @mariahkoko

It's a PRS. Either a PRS SE 24 w/ a paf pro (bridge) and duncan jazz or a Hiland w/ wolftone dr. vintage - don't actually remember which guitar I was playing...

  • @xoliXilox Did you notice the difference between the HOG´s DRY sound and the sound from the ORIGINAL slider? I think, with only the Original slider up, the sound is a bit tinny and synthetic, not as "organic" and warm as many people mentioned in some forums...

  • Thanks for taking the time to provide this stellar review. When one looks to spend money on a piece of gear, it's nice to know what you are in for and your article here is very helpful. Thanks so much!

  • @fettsei1

No problem. That's kind of why I did it - I couldn't really find good "player" reviews of these pedals, which would have been helpful in my purchases.

  • @xoliXilox what's the best???

  • seems like the hog wins hands down

  • You played the fool out of that guitar

  • Comment removed

  • Superb playing man, nice demo.

  • @metalcore929 Hey you....post a new video already!

  • The Eventide doesn't do polyphony on the Diatonic or Quadravox settings. I think the Harmodulator and Pitchflex would be a better setting.

  • Same exact thing on harmodulator and pitchflex.

I've tried it all and even trouble shot with eventide
