Pretty straight forward. A lot easier than I thought!! Very minor modifications to tunnel and instead of the original prop shaft - use one from a p6 auto. Took a couple of hours all in.
but i think the p6 is more grunty and more american musle, more of a gangster car, the triumph was the cop car, no so intresting, and the interior is more pleasing in the p6
Or should the question be - Does the the SD1 have a Rover P6 engine? ;-)
The Rover V8 engine was fitted to P5B's, P6 3500, SD1's Landrovers, Range Rovers, and many other makes of car . (I think the last version ceased production only a couple of years before the collapse of Rover.)
I do not know if this is also true of the estate P6, but when my Grandfather had his 1972 P6 2000Auto, both my mother and I sometimes used to feel sick in the back, and I know my grandfather never accelerated it hard. Having said that, I have always loved the P6 since my grandfather got his. I would love to own another one sometime :)
The estate is a bit heavier at the rear which might make a difference
The P6 is a very underated classic. Parts reasonably easy to find, excellent roadholding (for its time) and good performance. If you want one - now is the time to do so - they are pretty cheap! Visit one of the P6 club websites and seek out info first though - its easy to buy a well disguised "rotten" one
Great cars! I want to buy one since they're still reasonably cheap to run for a v8

The caption is a pain. Can't you remove it? Or put it low down or somewhere else?

I could repost the video without it I think - Have to find the original file on my pc.

Cheers! My old man had one of these 20 years ago. I remember him accelerating a few times(!) like this. It always brought a smile to my face.

Is this a standard P6 or is it tweaked? I am thinking of getting one and fitting a Webber carb.

3500S estate - Manual gearbox (changed from 4speed to 5 speed Sd1 box. Probably a bit slower off the "mark" than the saloon due to extra weight

Ah so thats the LT77 isn't it? They are becoming quite hard to find these days. Was it pretty much a straight forward swap?

It's not quite standard, as it's one of the estate conversions.

Not at all bad for a 35 year old car - it really goes some ! May it (and all other old Rovers) continue to give motoring pleasure.
