BTW, you can kinda get an "r" sound by writing 랩as 뢥. Like you can get closer to the pronunciation of "rice" with 롸이스 rather than 라이스.

@achokingvitcim Korean doesn't have an equivalent of the short A sound, like in rap, apple, and man, so it's usually designated with ㅐ.

That is not correct. 매 is the exact equivalent of the English short "a." 에 is the same as the short "e", as in "bet" or "let." Thus, 개 is "dog" and 게 is "crab." Trust me. I'm Korean. :)

I'm aware that there are sounds that first appear to be the same, but are different, such as 오 and the English "o." The English "o" sounds like 오우.

So generally Koreans do not distinguish them in precise detail at ordinary conversation. Just those are almost 'eh' as like other languages. (i = ee = y) Obstinately do to distinguish them. ㅔ = little bit short sound 'eh' ㅐ = little bit long sound 'ehh' But no one obstinately distinguish it what ever, just know it familiar.

ㄱ is basically pronounced as G

But the Roman Alphabet is often pronounced differ among various countries..

ex) 김 = GIM (JIM or ZIM ?)

So for the exact pronunciation based Korean sound, as like at first of ㄱ should fix as "K" sound for prevent against other sounds.

같이 = This is also exact pronunciation is Kat-iee, however peoples just do pronounce it easily. Katchi
