contrary to what some might think, the IG kick a lot of ass, you only think they suck because in most of the situations you see them in, your playing a space marine, who are only called in when all else has failed and they're beyond screwed to the wall, you never seen an army get mowed down by lasguns and heavy artillery because most of the fighting is over before you get there. there are only 1000 space marines in a chapter, they'd be spread too thin is the IG couldn't handle shit themselves

Personally I did not like Lukas Alexander that much, only reason he got promoted was because he found a Hellstorm (Might have got that wrong) cannon from a Titan. General Sturrn however landed into a Chaos temple AS A BEACHHEAD. Faced down an Ork WAAAAGH!! Then against a legion of Chaos, protected Farseer Taldeer THEN faces down a Necron awakening and finally reawakens the Titan and still lives (In Canon that is).

@Suomipanzerdiv13 In DoW? You really /really/ want to use it. If a unit loses morale it takes extra damage (200% I think) and deals reduced damage (50% I think). Execute restores morale to /all/ nearby units, though, so you don't need to use it on every single unit that has lost morale if they're close to each other. It also increases the fire rate of the guardsmen too, I think. I remember that I was getting owned whenever I played IG until I noticed the Execute ability.

@bluerock12 To be fair, though, the guard's fluff is a bit Russian, even if their design isn't. I mean, cheap, numerous, expendable infantry with heavy reliance on armoured support. However, that's only the generic guard tactic. Different regiments have different tactics and since the Horus Heresy each regiment is not guaranteed to have armoured support.
