  • If miata's are gay than what does that make the 350z i just beat? you should have seen the look on his girls face when the "little gay car" he was just chirping left him behind, i may have ended their relationship, i almost felt bad for him.... but not really :)

  • Dude 10 grand ur trippen I'm probably put 7k in to MY miata and I push 542hp turboed KA TEIN COIL OVER GROUNDCONTROL AND A WELDED DIFF u show is bs get in real life.

  • AND VERY TRUE THE DRIVER FEELS LIKE HIS PART OF THE CAR!! I LOVE MY MIATA NA

  • isnt it 118hp... an i thinks its pretty quick (dont judge me I love my miata) And the whole gay thing Man wtf? if u have ur ride nicely modified (No NOT RICER MODIFIED) theres No reason for u to even worry.. Cuz they (people) see its ur hobby. (my opinion)

  • lol he said gay

  • selling my integra and buying a mx-5... fuck yea

  • To be fair, 'miata' is one of the gayest names going. We have an mx-5.

  • @thatman64 americans call it a miata, thats what i call a pakistani

  • i have to poop.. can anybody wish me luck ?

  • you went backwards, but goodjob on the engine etc. bla bla, luv mazdas

    breaks , suspension first. tires.

  • would you say the stock 1.6 could handle 14psi of boost?

  • why would you boost a 150k motor

  • ive been thinking about a 93+ miaita wit beg 6 kit and full engine rebuild, i want a sleeper and think te maita is perfect is this a good idea can i expect much from a fully built motor and turbo kit i this thing?

  • Please don't lean on those headlight covers! ;)

  • BBR already offer the mk1 and mk2 with turbo but thats only as a rhd jap import. The mk1 BBr has 150bhp and the MK2 has 170bhp

  • nerd!!

  • How can you say the Miata is gay? It's based on the 1961 AC Shelby Cobra. It's a roadster. And to those who say it's gay it would probably be the best car to do road trips.

  • @Subsw00fers great cars i love mine but not so good for road trips though very limited cargo but its amazing for cruising with a few more miata owners and haulin ass

  • @Subsw00fers what the hell are you on about? The miata is the jap version of a british sports car....and if you didnt know the shelby was built on the AC ACE ...and he was refering to the typical view of the miata in america..a "girls" car , ive got a '90 and '95

  • for under 10k, you could get a s2000

  • @BeenThereDuhnit yeah but he said he wanted to race

  • Put an ls1 i it. I'm telling you, the power is well worth the work. or may an 8.3L viper V-10... Whaaaaaat? it could work, right?

  • @AngelDemonGirl17 then the balance is thrown off. Stock a miata has almost a 50/50 weight ratio and what itll lose on straights racing a viper, it will make up for in the turns. it just isn't really worth it.

  • ok 2 questions. is there a link to the turbo you guys bought? and what if any ride height drop is there on this car?

  • This guy should not try to be Jeremy Clarkson...

  • its called a rollbar... any convertible has a high potential of crushing.

  • get the mazdaspeed edition. its worth it. 178 hp stock.

  • The LSx conversion add less than 100lbs and a lot of that is in the back due to the new diff. The miata is an amazing platform for a quick car. And with the v8 you've got a Ferrari killer on your hands.

  • Only reason why some people don't like the Miata is because the numbers on it don't add up. The Miata is a great car in general but no one wants to admit it, so they call it a car for girls. But think about it, girls love mustangs. I seen like 5 of them on the streets and I see a girl driving them. But anyway, the miata is a good platform like you said. Light weight, stock engine is place more back for a close 50/50 weight, and there's the conversions.

  • I love small ,highly maneuverable cars like this.

89' Ford Festiva (not Fiesta) it my favorite (yes its underpowered & ugly, but I love it!)

& Miata has always had a place =-)

  • yeah, i even saw an old lady driving a corvette twice (can't remember if it was the same person)

  • ha turbod and only 140whp LMAO! why bother

  • know anything about power to weight ratios?

  • 7.5 psi is a bit tame, but it would see closer to 200whp if pushed to about 10 or 11.

  • @ninjagod1337 On a NEW 1.6 I wouldn't hesitate to go with 10psi boost, but with most of these motors pushing 20 years old and more, I wouldn't want to venture past 8 or so psi on original stock internals. But on a 1.6 (or 1.8) balanced and rebuilt using forged rods, etc, I wouldn't think twice about pushing 12-15psi easy, and then you'd be beyond 250rwhp.

  • Paid 1800 for mine- and its my drift project, very fun car.

  • not if you still want the thing to turn in well!!!

  • why are these guys putting thumbs down? miata engine is iron and ls1 corvette engine weighs less than 4 cylinder in miata

  • Because this can out pace the corvette in the low speed slalom.....

Not to mention the vette weighs quite a bit more.

  • a v8 would just ruin what the car is all about

v8's are for americans that just want to go in straight lines

  • @rtsoccerplayer Actually, the V8 crammed into a roadster is a very British tradition, going back to the AC Ace, the Sunbeam Tiger, Morgan 8, TR8, Stag, etc. Americans went with big cars, the Brits went with big motors (not that big - the Rover 3.5 - licensed from Buick - was and is the most popular V8 for small British cars).

Since the Miata is based on the Lotus Elan, it stands to reason that the next step in its evolution is to squeeze a V8 into it. The LS1 and Ford 302 are popular choices.

  • PISS ON S2000s. The Miata is the best selling sports car EVER. More than Ferrari, Lamborghini, ANY OF IT. It may not be fast, it's WAY cooler than any HONDA in many people's opinion including mine, no matter the hp or whatever. Get technical all you want, it's all about preference. The car isn't claiming to be the best thing ever crafted by human hands (IT IS TO ME!), so quit hatin

  • Miata's crush when they roll. nough said

  • so does any other car doofus.

  • Clearly you are ignorant. For the price of that s2000, I can build 2 miatas that you will never pass in a race. One with a turbo and one with a 13b rotary.

    Dream on... kid.

  • @Fanatic80s Definately agree.... ive had both... and i still HAVE the miata.... and theres a reason for it.... lol

  • @Fanatic80s thats pushing it, you could build one beast one. 13b swaps arent cheap even if you do it yourself, and s2k's are around 13k now.

  • @Drive4Jesus and other necessary efi stuff, so they can have a beast capable of taking down 2010 mustangs. And gee, that leaves us with 5 grand to spare before we hit your 13K budget. Hmm, just enough for a full flyin' miata turbo kit, complete with ecu, intercooler, bov, wastegate, all the goodies a stock miata needs to keep up with the rotary we just built. Don't believe me? Go check it out.

  • Dude.. Based on your comments, you sound like you are in the closet because you know absolutely nothing about racing or cars in general.

Comments are supposed to be intelligent and communicative and clearly you are not the sharpest tool in the shed.

  • oh, so because it's youtube i need to prove to everyone how smart i am? ok pal.

  • You are entitled to your opinion Simple Jack, but if you are going to form one, at least let it be an opinion with smarts...

It's okay if you prefer Honda, but at least come to the table with some conclusions, not just wanton banter.

  • faster, more power, not as fruity looking, and higher re-sale value. i'll end it at that.

  • 90hp? Mazda said it had 116hp. Which is right?

  • 90 whp.

    116 bhp.

  • Thats the beauty of Miatas. Sure he's running 145hp, which now a days is low for entry level sedans, but a Miata weighs only a touch over 1 ton, so all the power gets used. 150hp in a Miata is fast car, hands down. And the great thing about the Miata's engine is that even at 200-230hp, it is still reliable and will last way longer than most cars. And 200+hp in a Miata is scary fast. Not to mention one of the ultimate sleeper cars. Chick's Car my ass.

    BTW, I love my NA.

  • Civic like the EG6 or the EK9 are great

    they handle well a corner

but the Miata makes that corner faster ;)

a friend of mine has a EG6 and my Miata is almost all stock and still he can't get away from me in the corners

  • haha Civics are funny... I have an N/A NA (haha, for those who get it) and i still pull on Civic SIs... although I'm slightly built, pushing boost soon.

  • where do you get 10 grand from, I have found the greddy kit in this video any where from 1K -1.5K. Yeah its only 145 - but add an intercooler and you can easily get 200whp.... I have 210 and I can run very low 13's (13.3 to be exact)... Sure on a civic you can get 500hp but have you seen the dyno its all in a usless band width, try using that on a track and you will find even a 145hp miata can probably spank you.

  • Launch control and a nice pair of slicks.

  • i have a 1991 miata

where can i get that turbo kit online?

if it goes up to 145hp in a 90hp B6

how much does it goes up in a 115hp B6ZE? 180hp-200hp?

  • test drove a 90 with 180,000 miles yesterday, scared the shit outta me

  • Honda FTW, 10 grand for only 145 hp? I got a b20 vtec turbo on my coupe and I put down 501 whp on 19 pounds of boost under 4 grand.

  • Its not about the power but how its put down. Also power to weight ratio plays a huge factor. You sir are fail

  • so your saying this miata with 145 whopping horse power is gonna be my 501 whp civic look whos failing. plus how he said in the video you look gay in this car. lol

  • he spent a hell of a lot less than 10 grand to get the power to where he is at. He's talking about everything including the suspension etc. Plus I'd like to see you're shitty civic take a corner without spinning out. He did NOT spend 10k on just the turbo..i hear a tick tick tick from your little civic...

  • hey im not the one who has gay anime videos with pink little poof balls dancing around.....buahahaha none the less you have it as a favorite......lmao

  • lmao the fact that you actually went through my profile to find ammo to use against me makes me laugh haha i still hear your honda ticking

  • yea your prolly young doesn't have a job and sits home on the computer all day to see how much trouble you can cause, you dont have a car and you like talking trash, go look at my supra on my profile then lets see what trash you talk.

  • lol i'm sure your supra is badass i won't doubt that. Its your honda thats shit. You can assume what you want to assume about me if it makes you sleep better at night

  • @jagonza97 yeah, nothing asserts masculinity like a Civic. LOLZ.

Anyone driving a jellybean-shaped FWD economy car is playing a very brave card when suggesting a Miata driver looks "gay".

To be fair, I never would have considered owning a Miata until I drove one. Now I own two.

  • you don't know what Kirby is? I feel sad for you...oh... not that you don't know what Kirby is, but that you drive a Civic... sucks man.

  • Power to weight ratio is a huge consideration for the miata. So is USEABLE power. So your civic makes 501 whp on 19lbs of boost. Where is that power in your powerband. Not at the lower end because to make that much power under 10k means you have a lot of turbo lag. Also the FF set up means you lose more power through the tranny. The guy is using a small turbo(by comparison to whats out there) to make the power where he needs it for his application. That miata > your Dyno Queen civic.

  • U need to know turbo sizes and then we'll talk, a little 50 trim turbo yea it spools fast but its so puny a lawn mower can spin it, I have a 60-1 turbo off the line absolutely no lag due to hondatas s300 convenient launch control. the miata will actually lose more power due to it having to transfer the power from the engine to the tranny through the drive shaft in the differential and then the axles as oppsed to ff engine tranny axles

  • bwaaaahaha! go bust some ebrake slides in ur honda.

  • Why the heck did he get the GT28 for a 1.6 running low boost on the stock ECU? He could have gotten the GT2554 and had the SAME power and SOOOO much more response!!!

  • It's not the stock ECU. As stated in the video (near the end) we have an AEM stand-alone.

  • Whats stopping you from running 13 lbs of boost? Stayed with the stock injectors?

  • The low-cost kit doesn't include an intercooler. We'll be adding one before we up the boost. Larger injectors are in the future, too.

  • @drivingsports Why didn't you save up and install the intercooler and injectors before you tuned the car? Tunes are very expensive this doesn't seem very cost effective.

  • @drivingsports or... since price IS an object. How about piecing a kit together yourself, building a MegaSquirt kit, and buying decent injectors... Which would allow you to run... (efficiently) a max of I think about 12-15psi on the stock head, and still get good flow numbers. And for cheaper. Looking at 250hp easy.

  • @drivingsports How much did you pay for the turbo kit? How much more would it be with an intercooler and larger injectors? I'm picking up a 1990 miata tomorrow and just wondering what kind of potential the 1.6 has

  • 140whp = weaksauce. 240whp is fun

  • i'm going to assume that you own an S13 Nissan 240sx. I will also assume its a fastback/hatchback. i'll also safely assume that your particular 240sx has 240whp. That being said having owned both a miata and a 240sx the power change is felt a lot more on the miata than the 240sx going back to power to weight ratios. A miata built correctly with 240whp will be in the low 12's (don't believe me check out V8 powered Miatas with Ford 302's) maybe even high 11's either way both are good cars.

  • I'm pretty sure not many people assume you're gay because of the car you drive...

  • unfortuneately, you'd be suprised. but you should see the looks on their faces when my miata blows them away...hehehe. Totally worth it.

  • how many horses is the 1.8 motor?

  • like 105 hahaha

  • lol ok XD

  • 131 , and its almost a 1,9l

  • O_O wow

  • well, it is 131 hp per t, so it's not bad

  • 0_o Disco Potato?

  • its a nickname for the garrett gt28rs turbo
