His book will change the way you look at life, at least it did for me. I can't imagine what he goes through everyday. READ LONE SURVIVOR! I have already read it 3 times.
You guys knocking Marcus need to take a look in the mirror. He not only was a Seal, but he survived a experience that would have killed you. So he should be "full of himself". God in his infinite wisdom saved Marcus, and for that alone I would if in his shoes feel I was walking on water for the rest of my life.
If you can't find humor in even the saddest, most depressing things in your life, then you would drive yourself into a deep, spiraling depression. This man watched three of his closest friends die in front of him and there was nothing he could do about it. He was chased by Taliban assassins, shot in the leg, and fell down the face of a mountain. This man is a Patriot, a true American. He put his life on the line to protect your liberties. Give him the respect he deserves.
I read his book. One interesting part was when he helped by the Afghanistan people. And I will say he makes his views very clear about his stance on the war. Yet he still shows the Afgahn people as people. He still explains to a certain extent their suffering and their fight. The ones who do not wish to fight but yet get involved with war. Marcus Luttrell is a true patriot and hero and I do respect you for that but I respect you more for trying to give the other side, not many people do.
@espanto28 That is, in my opinion, what makes his book that much better than the majority of similar ones. He doesn't dehumanize or ignore the local population.
because he prayed to the lord and made a promise that if he made it out alive, he would tell the people of his teams courage and honor.
man, grow up. this guy isn't a "entertainer." You disrespect him, SEALs, and those who gave there lives to try to rescue him when you say these remarks.
fenomwar33, he is a great motivational speaker. People need to hear what he has to say. Like a good speaker, he makes jokes at certain times but he is genuine about the loss of his brothers and what he went through. He is the real deal. He is helping people with his speaches.
God Bless Marcus Luttrell, the men who died alongside him, and all the soldiers fighting for us today. We will never be able to repay them. But they don't want us to repay them. They just want us to support them and cheer them on, which is too difficult for many selfish piece of shit, liberal, so-called Americans.
The very BEST thing that has ever come out of the great state of Texas is not, nor ever has been, anything or anybody like the Bushes, or anyone like them. It IS Marcus Luttrell. But he has a long line behind him too. After all! That's where the Alamo is.
I cant even imagine what it must have been like for a guy like Marcus to hear that and not be able to do anything about it. He'll prob hear those sreams for the rest of his life.
yeah for sure....but granted he is doing a great job coming or TRYING to come to terms with this experience. I can't even imagine the amount of therapy he goes through. Therapy is good thing though.
you can hear the emotion in his voice when he talks about his friends during the firefight. his book is one of the best ive ever read. and ive read quite a few.
i shed some tears when i read this book. its amazing how tough these men are, what they go through and what they have to live with. i one day will become a seal, nothing will ever get in my way of that.
In my twenty years in Army Special Operation,I have trained and deployed with Operators from every branch including the OGA's and we have shed our blood, sweat, tears and lives for missions we supported and believed in and for some of the most worthless and idiotic shit.
I have trained with foreign Special Ops also and was absolutely humbled by some of these third world commandos and their degree of skill and knowledge: most were boy soldiers with decades more experience in warfare than us.
This man, as modest as he is at heart, does represent the greatest of all America, for everything he stands for, his actions and even that modesty. My prayers are with him for the pain he still suffers.
He is a true hero! God bless you Marcus.
