It's really a shame, I'd love to use this video in my classroom but, unfortunately, the misleading entrance in the beginning talking about Fred Hampton being the number one threat to "Communism" is, well, sort of backwards. Obviously Fred was AGAINST the sort of police state authoritarianism in the Soviet Union, but he WAS part of a Maoist organization which, despite their ideological flaws (my opinion, of course), was a very viable and important ideological development within the movement.
Fred was a very brilliant man. He was only 20 and he had breakfast programs, and health clinics set up all over Chicago. It hurts that the enemy took him away from us so soon. I wish young people should look up to people like Fred as a role model and build up there communities instead of 50 Cent and all those other foolish rappers out there that are degrading our communty.
I think the most important thing he said in this video was how racism is used a tool for capitalism - He was before his time and absolutely correct! 2008 and this past year is a example of how the media is constantly classifying people by race! The politician use the media to deliver their message - you can see it in LA and other Cities with the poor African Americans and Latinos and the poor whites and successful African Americans.

While they did still regard themselves as a "vanguard party," they also turned over many of the programs they started to the people, and were definitely not black nationalists. Fred was a communist, but a libertarian one, ala Pannekoek or Rosa Luxemburg. Stalinism does not have a monopoly on communism.
