Brendan could have dyed it white. No shame in that considering the wacky hairstyles and colors of the Pokemon world. Lastly, no hat in the Pokemon world would look that bad...

EVERY!!! starter trainer with a pokedex has a hat of some sort if you read the manga you can actualy find out why he wears it

@voltex12345 Your right, it could just be a hat. But you gotta know that the characters in the manga are only based off of the protagonists in the games! Meaning characters like Red for instance, isn't the same kid you played as in the games. So Ruby (being his own person) could be wearing a hat, and Brendan (being a totally different person from Ruby) could very well have multicolored hair with a bandanna. Also keep in mind in SSBB, Pikachu wears the same bandanna as Brendan, in his green color

It's more likely than not that they are virtually the same entity, and despite minor changes EVEN I can tell that the games derive from the manga. Unless it's the games are supposed to have their own universe altogether, which is VERY considering all of the similarities, Ruby's (ha, the fucking name of the VG release) hat included.

Brendan is my favorite trainer. But I hate the manga so much now for ruining his character in it. I mean he's a coordinator, he's got such a girl-ish team even May or Sapphire has a cooler team than him. The only Pokemon he has that I like is his Swampert. So thats why I say they should make an anime series based on him. Give him a better team, don't make him a coordinator, leave that to May. BTW nice battle theme :)
