  • The me nose job - ugh. Could you redo this video? You could probably had cut the chitchat and shown the meat of the matter in about one minute.

  • @daphneavenging There is an annotated link to the updated video in the bottom left hand corner for the ENTIRE VIDEO. And It's posted as a video response.

  • PRINCESS LEIA!! not a martian! :)

  • Good job! Thank you for doing this, I read how to do it online but you helped a lot, I needed a visual aid :)

    Thank you!!!! :D

  • I'm to stupid to take this towel around my head .__.

  • Plopping? I call this wrapping a t-shirt around your head.

  • Thank you so very much for your video's: you saved my backpacking holiday to Thailand this summer !!!!!!!

  • I am going to try this on my daughter today, her hair is crazy.

  • @madarijussalikeen yea shampooing daily is too drying for curly hair. Twice or once a week is better. You can also not shampoo at all. Check out the curly girl method.

  • Hi Sarah, do you wash your hair on a daily basis? I was told to avoid that as it damages curly hair. How true is this?

  • Thanks!!!!! Been reading about this on the Naturally Curly message board and never could visualize it

  • Suggest you redo the video when your nose isn't itchy. No offense, but that's a real turnoff.

  • @knitjunky This video HAS been redone. Check the description for a link to the new one.

  • it's hard to shower in the morning; what can i do? is it ok to sleep in this? help!

  • @cutecurlytop409 yes, it's fine to sleep in this, but you might want to tie another piece of cloth around the plop to make sure it stays in place. you can also try french braid your hair wet the night before. both will give good curls overnight, but personally mine always look their best when i shower in the morning. i agree... i hate getting up though.

  • @waterlily716 yea i do agree i get nicer curls in the morning wen i shower. so if i sleep with my hair plopped, what should i do in the morning??

  • @cutecurlytop409 just use a little conditioner/water to fiz frizz... that's it really. :)

  • @waterlily716 you're amazing, thank you! :D

  • but your hair is already curly so it doesn't make any sense my hair is strait

  • @grace1233211 this technique is for removing moisture and enhancing naturally curly or wavy hair. sorry, but it's not for straight hair.

  • you say you wash your hair every other day and you condition when you wash it. what else do you do besides condition?

  • @ayre0813 well, first i actually apply a cheap conditioner, suave naturals, to my scalp and then i use my fingertips to scrub away dry scalp, dirt, product, etc. then i rinse that out and condition the length of my hair. right now i'm using giovanni fructis fortifying sleek n shine conditioner. then i rinse that out, reapply some as a leave in conditioner, scrunch in my gel, plop, and go! :) if you go to my channel, and click on the "curly hair basics" playlists i have a styling video up.

  • i just found you and ive been watching your videos since last night lol- i have mad curly thick hair and can never get it to do anything! i see girls like you and i know my hair can look the same!!! i just dont know how or what to do. im interested in the curly girl method. now do you condition every day?

  • @ayre0813 i wash i my hair every other day, and i condition every time i wash my hair. it's really the curly girl method that makes my hair so healthy. if you need some convincing there's a forum thread of before and after pictures. just google "before and after curltalk ." and if you google "curly girl method" the first page that pops up is a great guide to the method if you wanna learn more. or i made a video recently too. hope that helps :)

  • I just wanted to stop by and say thanks, I just plopped my hair for the first time, and even though it's still wet, I can definitely see a difference. =D

  • @curlyhairlove you're welcome :)

  • don't take this the wrong way but at some points like somewhere near 4:28 yeah pretty much like when u tilt your head down

  • @coockie567 ...what?

  • @waterlily716 oh my bad u looked like nick jonas i forgot to mention

  • @coockie567 Lol, ok. :) He has nice curls :)

  • Actually, I think I shoudl try this plopping thing, I've never heard of it... I have naturally wavy/curly hair, but without hair products, gizmos, and a ton of fussing, its tends to be pretty poofy, frizzy and unruly. I'll try this. Do you think one of those thin, cotton baby blankets would work?

  • @MenstrualCupInfo Yup! Especially if you can double it up and make it more absorbent.

  • will it make your hair frizz when you take the towl off?? my hair gets really frizzy when it drys. i live in florida and the humidity dose not help. >:(

  • @Heather872 nope. just don't yank it off lol.

  • @waterlily716 haha thanx! :)

  • Why is terry cloth bad?

  • @ritad426 If you look at terry cloth, it has a lot loopy fibers that can catch on strands of hair. They pull strands out of curls and cause frizz.

  • @waterlily716 -- that's good to know, I never knew the terricloth thing. I've been using terricloth my whole life, lol. Tha tmight be part of my major friz problem...

  • @nemoandbling yes, you can do this with wavy hair. :)

  • @waterlily716 yes the hair was scrunced up on the top of my head. and my hair is long and wavy, not short. i'll try plopping for less time. is it okay if i let my hair air dry after the plop or do i have to blow dry?

  • @xotesszox nope you can definitely air dry.

  • i tried plopping. I kept the plop on for about an hour and a half and then when I took it off, my hair wasn't curly! :/ I have long wavy hair. and I also used products. why didn't it work? =[

  • @xotesszox hmmm are you sure you laid your hair into the towel so it was scrunched up? maybe it just got flattened instead of scrunched. also perhaps try plopping for less time. also, if you have short hair, some people with short hair say plopping doesn't work for them. plopping will only enhance the curl a little, but your hair should still be wavy.

  • @nemoandbling if you don't usually use products with your hair and like the result then it probably would work. i always use products, so i've never tried that, but go ahead. :)

  • @salmoozation i take a hair tie and tie them together pretty tight. does that make sense?

  • I appreciate your little note saying "skip to this point if you want to skip intro". Most ppl on here talk for 9 minutes before showing you anything, bore you to death. Thanks for the vid.

  • how do u keep the part when plopping? plopped for the first time today but the part didnt stay when i flipped my head down

  • @XlBeautyDiva hmm i don't ever have that problem, but i suggest holding your part carefully when you flip your head upside down. then press it into the towel and quickly tie it up. hth :)

  • Aside from having a lil difficulty hearing the audio, this i the best vid I have come across about plopping. I'm a plopping virgin and this vid has made it much more clear than some of the others that I've viewed. Thanks!

  • what products do ya use? Mousse?

  • nope. gel and leave in conditioner.

  • This is great. I am letting my hair grow out again and look forward to plopping again. You are helping so many people. Thank you.

  • You're very welcome :)

  • your vids make me looove my hair again aha {:

but by plopping, doesnt it defeat the purpose of putting all the product in your hair beforehand, since the towel would absorb it all?

  • well, i think it absorbs a small amount, but almost all of the gel and stuff is still their when i unplop. you can always add a little more to be safe.

  • Iis is SO true about terry cloth towels. They are NOT curly hair friendly. Use a true MICROFIBER towel!

  • omg u make it look so easy. lol

  • yeah, i've been thinking about making a video about all the ways you can plop.

  • Is it ok to sleep in this?

  • yuppers!

  • @pinkpolkadot1256 yes! if you can get it to stay on your head. :)

  • oh cool, i didn't even know you made a response vid to my plopping vid =)

good googly-moogly, you make that look so easy! it never works for me when i try to do it that way...

  • dude where'd you gt your curtains!! omg! i've been looking for some like those for SO long please respond! lol srry for the random question hehe

PS: I put on the plor RIGHT after showering so by the time im done dressing and eating breakfast and stuff its done ;)

  • hahaha no problem. i've always loved those curtains. they are really old and came with the house. i think the brand was Laura Ashely... but I'm not sure. hope that helps :)

  • Thanx for showing details of plopping. Really helped. :-)

  • I'm not sure, because I haven't had short hair very long and I haven't tested it yet... I've just been diffusing. Try it out on a weekend or at night and see if it works for you! If you want I can test it tomorrow and post a quickie vid of the results. =]

  • OMG thank you sooo much. i will never go through so much trouple to scrunch my hair again, this works and is sooo much easier and less time consuming. i can get dressed and do my makeup literally while styling my hair.

  • plopping = <3

    glad you liked it!

  • I tried this using an old knit pillowcase.

Worked beautifully on my waist length thin wavy hair.

    Thank you.

  • Yay! I'm glad it worked for you. =]

  • Ok so I'm bummed bc I tried this and the curls in the back came out beautifully but the ones in the front are kind of mushed. :( Maybe I did it wrong.

  • Sometimes it doesn't work with shorter hair. That might be why. :(

  • a good alternative for short curly hair is to use an old T-shirt & put the neck around your hairline so that the body of the shirt covers your hair. This gives a similar effect to plopping, but without squishing the curls as much. You can scrunch through the shirt or just let it absorb some of the excess water.

  • ooh good idea thanks :)

  • so useful! thanks I will try this tomorrow!

  • I just wanted to let u know that I plopped twice already and I love it. I don't have the drips anymore while my frizz free curls are airdrying... YAY!!!

  • awesome! =]

  • Okay, so I have to try this now...

  • Thank you for posting your video, Your hair is gorgeous! Please don't ever snip your curls, they are so beaultiful..

  • thanks! i am thinking just to my shoulders or so for summer... but don't worry it grows really fast!

  • I checked out ur fotki pics... OMG! Ur curls are bangin!!!... and I think I got my answer from one of ur fotki pics. I believe u apply all styling products BEFORE plopping. You also have very pretty eyes. I never noticed before in your other vid cuz of ur glasses. What color are your eyes? I'm about to do an Amla powder / Deep Conditioning treatment tonight and leave in overnight then wash, condition & try the plopping in the morning... lol

  • aww thx. your curls are awesome too and i wish my hair was that curly. my eyes are blue. maybe i'll put in my contacts for my next vids.

  • Oops! I accidentally deleted your other comment, but I def read it. I didn't know I could delete things! Anyways, thanks for all the compliments--I'm not the most confident person. :)

    good luck w/ plopping

  • oh duh... u supplied the password... duh Shida... lol

  • Thanks for sharing. I tried to see ur pics in ur fotki but it said I needed a password. Do you plop before or after you've applied your styling products like leave-in condish, gel & such?

  • this is after styling products
