I dont understand the meaning ..but this is a heart rendering excellent song .. sung in priase of Great Ram...i heard atleast 100 times and still its extremely lovable.....
All of us stand on the shoulders of our predecessors. We should respect the great persons who have left us invaluable cultural heritage. This song, in addition to its melodiousness, is rich in its upadesa. Thanks for having made it available.
Thanks a lot for sharing this, I have searched for this Keerthana on internet a little while ago and couldn't find it that time, used to have the audio tape long ao.
caraNam 7: Surya, Chandra, Sanaka Sanadhanas, Dikpalas, Devas, Kimpurushas, Prahalada, Narada, Tumburu, Anjaneya, Siva, Sukar, Brahma, Brahmanas enjoy the Brahmanandha Swaroopa of God always. Apart from them there are others and salutations to them also.
caraNam 8: They praise your form, name, valour, bravery, peaceful heart, true words. You destroy all bad thoughts that prevent people from praying you, they know that and they praise your qualities.
caraNam 9: Those who know the secret of Bagavatha, Ramayana, Gita, Sruti, Sasthra, Epic, various religious thoughts, the thoughts of the 33 crores of Devas, bhava, raga, tala and they have a long life and enjoy all good things.
caraNam 10: Those beloved of Lord Tyagaraja, when bakthi increases they think your name, they are Rama bakthas, they are devotees of the Lord of Tyagaraja who worships you.
The essential ingredient of this keerthana is humility and "Bhakthi". BMK has got it right in this video. There is no arrogance, haughtiness or "holier than thou" attitude in this raga elaboration. Great work! Thank you "dartdisah" for uploading this classic BMK version of this Pancharatna kriti!!
@dartdisah I think, Nagayya was first followed by this and then SPB. Just my assessment. I am not that much into music. Just a normal "kalaposhakudini".
hi..loved this :) can you please tell me which collection this is from? Is it from the great masters series? the rendition sounds a lil different. thanks
If you love this , you might also look up the songs from the film "SOPANAM" and you will be amazed also by the rendition of "SADHINICHANAE: bu KJyesudas, with Sesshagopalan.. Enjoy the best!!!
This is my favourite Karnatic composition. I love the austere ragas...Sri, Bhairavi, Todi, Kharaharapriya, Abheri etc....so noble, so sublime. The best interpretation I've heard of this one is by Ariyakuddi Ramanuja Iyengar, which I have on a worn out audiocassette. It's very raw and muscular and he belts it out at a frantic pace. Astonishing.
these guys like songlvr1, they just blabber out of their stupidity. We dont have to take it emotionally. Agreed that this open to every one, and every one can post their opinion, but arent we missing the divine music in these stupid trifles. Lets ignore these guys.
it makes no sense to comment BMK and don't ever try to compare with Jesudas as both are from different genres, Tyagaraja has composed his kritis in Telugu and BMK is a Telugu and songlvr1 you know abt yesudas right and he is no exception for music he is just a part , we have due respect for Yesudas and Music is from SAMAVEDHA which is divine and you are not qualified to criticise anyone or you are not licensed,
well I would not comment on the BMK seeing the god or emotionally elated.
However, I would like to argue with songlvr1 about discriminating male singers vs female singers. Also, I do not see, how based on "gender" of singer, the great sea of Carnatic music can be judged as good or not?
Well, all the major composers, at least I know of are men.
No offense meant, but I do not approve of songlvr1's comment.
I do differ with what is being said.I have been listening to carnatic music for sometime now and have done some thinking about it...I believe the objective of something as pure and as divine as carnatic music is take people into the world of 'bhakti yoga'. It doesnot have to do anything with the voice at all...Voice is just a medium...However from the song and from the emotions of the singer, one can easy figure out if the singer saw god in the song.I have every reason to believe that BMK did.
i agree the western music has its own glorious moments, but the bhakthi sangeetha of the Tyagaraja era is something out of this world. of course, each of us have our own special that take us into the light from darkness. Pancharatna Kirtanas are definitely soul-liberating, for people like me.
Let us not get carried away. carnatic music some times is not sung properly. Most of the men singers have horrible voices except baring a few exceptions like Jesu das. Honestly carnatic music sounds nicer when women like MS MLV Ranjini Gayatri and visaka Hari sing it. They have superb voices and well cultured and so much Bhava in their rendition. Balamurali just does acrobatics and does not even sing with a open voice.
@songlvr1 - realize that the 'acrobatics' you mentioned in your comment is also a part of the carnatic music rendition. When, BMK sings in a 'not so open voice', listen at which scale he is singing and see who else is able to reach that note, then critizise. (Each singer has his/her range and voice qualities)
you r probably the first person i came across that does not like BMK. Do u have any idea how taloented he is? we do not even qualify to criticize him. listen to his music, if u like it, listen to more songs, if u don't like stop listening to his music. Don't go around the web posting coments about him. now if u can prove u r as talented as him, then u can comment all you want. Don't take this the wrong way. I am not being rude or anything. Hope you understand.
Sure, all carnatic musicians don't have the same kind of voice, which brings in their vocal talent as well as their knowledge of music, sahitya and the way they perform. These are the aspects that also contribute to making the performer great. MBK has contributed a lot of Carnatic music.
