Making a Hidden Admin

i can't be admin and i can't even shut down the computer because my fucking brother is still logged in, so i can't create a new admin so that i can't get rid of my account's parental controls and now i'll have to get off at 10 every night including weekends BUT ALL I WANT TO DO IS STAY UP TILL WHENEVER

Hey man im just having one problem. At the end when your hiding the hidden folder, when im in terminal and type the command you gave: SetFile -a "V" hidden/

it prompts me that SetFile: commad not found. could you please help me? Great video by the way

Is there ANY way to bypass firmware lock on leopard? I just bought a macbook pro on ebay and the guy locked everything down. I can only use mac apps (IE safari, mail, etc.)

@Transformanator The issue here is that SetFile does not come pre-installed with OS X. You need to install the developer tools (Xcode).

make a new admin without the disk or a password. combine that with this, and your parents will never know.

NEW ADMIN (without password or disk)

1. Reboot

2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime. (command + s on newer Macs)

3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):

mount -uw /

rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

shutdown -h now

and there u have a new admin account.

hey, great vid. I tried it but deleted the user information, so now its just a login. I can still use it to authenticate for parental controls ;) I was wondering where user passwords are stored. I know they're hashed but it'd be nice to know anyways. Thanks, keep up the great vids.

so, you're trying to say that one day you had the random idea to teach yourself how to do this? and when you say that you teach yourself, do you mean that you teach it to yourself out of a book or that you teach it to yourself by going through many many trials of error until you finally figured out how it worked?

well kind of yes. Basically one day I was trying to figure out how to make Mac OS X how to use /etc/passwd. Then I got an idea for how to create a hidden user that I pretty much figured out. Then that didn't work so I messed around a little bit, and worked my way around the account system on the mac. After a few hours I had enough information together that I could make a hidden user.
