It's ironic, because Troll 1 was almost as delicious as Troll 2. Only Troll 2 is mocked for being bad, while Troll 1 is just cheesy and with a higher budget. Troll 2 is marketed as a horror film, while Troll 1 is like a children's fantasy/horror film, in the line of Gremlins.

Also, both have near identical storylines. A child gets into trouble by a troll/goblin/goblins and the humans have to stop the evil creature(s) from taking over the human world.
