If you even watched the team play last year you would know that Calgary's slow defense was leaving him out to dry on 80% of goals. I think most people will agree that Kipper is a top 8 goalie in the NHL and Bouwmeester is a top 5 defensemen. Phaneuf and Regehr fall in the 10 to 20 range.

The consensus of most of the big analysts is that Calgary, Detroit, and Philly have the best defence core in the league. Kipprusoffs best years were under a Calgary team that was defense first. If you even watched the team play last year you would know that Calgary's slow defense was leaving him out to dry on 80% of goals. I think most people will agree that Kipper is a top 8 goalie in the NHL and Bouwmeester is a top 5 defensemen. Phaneuf and Regehr fall in the 10 to 20 range.

The Canucks have 2-2.5 million in cap room if Hodgson makes the roster next season. I'm not going to parade around talking about a team when I'm not all that sure what they need in terms of forwards/defense. The dmen you listed all made a considerable amount last season and any price reduction looks to be above what the Canucks can afford.
