5:29 STFU!!!! That was very nicely played by Phil!! What the fuck I hate this tony dude or whatever what an ass licker, hypocrit Phil played very good look at the percentages!!!!!!!
lol I'm normally not with Phil but this dude really annoyed me with all his emotions blast. I mean it's high stakes poker. What can you expect. People should walk away nicely even when losing 2million dollars, that's a poker attitude not this fat dude with pink shirt
When I play home games, I always make an effort to turn over my cards really fast. 9/10 times, I never make an announcement about what I have (unless it's "nothing"). I usually just lay the cards out for everyone to see & shut up. Yet, some of the other players who I play against are habitually slower and more deliberate about turning over their cards. I don't take offense to it, as everyone has their own style/pace/habits. There's a difference between being slower vs. tanking & making a scene.
After Wiggins quickly turned over his hole cards and announced his "Kings," Hellmuth immediately announced "three 9's." Then, he immediately moved to flip over his hole cards (but with less excitement compared to Wiggins's move). My only gripe with this is that Phil was out of order. He should've turned over his hole cards and then made the announcement like Wiggins did. But, IMO, accidentally acting out of order & showing relatively lower enthusiasm is different than intentionally slow rolling.
@MacBubbles The argument for the slowroll was that the amateur was already committed to the pot when he bet... so all that hollywood by Phil was unnecessary.
Hollywooding is not the same thing as Slowrolling. Hollywooding is done to induce a call and is relatively more ethical (but you're right that it was unnecessary for Phil to do it). Slowrolling is becoming an overused term. Slowrolling happens after the call is made and is about how quickly the cards are shown. Just bc Phil didn't do things in as quickly as the other guy doesn't mean he slowrolled. What made it seem like a slowroll was that he said three 9's then showed his cards.
Had Phil turned over his cards first and then said "three 9's," then there would be no accusation/controvsery and this would just be another ordinary poker video on youtube. It obviously caught Phil off-guard that the caller acted so happy/excited (see 1:12). Being caught off-guard is one thing, and intentionally slowrolling is completely different. I don't see how anyone could watch this and say Phil meant to slowroll. The word slowroll is becoming abused and watered-down.
Why is it considered a slowroll when a caller 'insta calls' and quickly turns over their cards in a hurry, and then the betting player curiously takes a few seconds to look & see what the caller has (before flipping over their own cards)? It happens in the heat of the moment. When one player rushes so fast with the call, it's no surprise that the other player hesitates for a moment (even if they happen to have a stronger hand). It's pointless to get worked up about an unintentional slowroll.
This is the least bratty Phil Hellmuth video I've ever seen. If a slowroll wasn't suspected here, then this video wouldn't be entertaining enough to be here. For Phil Hellmuth, this is pretty polite. He and the amateur actually seem to get along pretty well here. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
It's just that I've seen much better examples than this. Here, he stays much more calm than usual even though he gets sucked out pretty bad. The title should be about the "suck out," not the "slowroll."
I don't like phil honestly like in the least but i hate when people talk about slow rolling. Get over it. I'm not here to be your friend i'm here to play the game and get as much of your money as i can. If it was me i wouldn't have ran it again. I woulda said thats poker..thats life..thanks for playing
@SL38K But slow rolling isn't just playing the game, it's being a dick plain and simple. Fair enough you're there to win as much money as you can and you don't care about the other guy but that has absolutely nothing to do with slow rolling. In this case it was a less obvious case of slow rolling but Hellmuth knew full well what he was doing and there is just no need for it. As for a more obvious slow roll at showdown, well that's just fucking pathetic behaviour, why let someone think they won?
Just remember who won the initial hand. PH is cocky, and a little excitable so he does dumb things once in a while. However, he could have one the extra bet to, but didn't. He helped the other guy out so it worked out ok.
@zex95966 i beleive that 10 or even 5 years ago it would be very very rare to make this, because people didnt even know it could be done and the ones who knew it could be done didnt saw the point in doing it!
but since like 3 years ago its not that wierd at all, specially if everyone at the table are friends ;D
@AzNightmare i can see you are new at poker, or at least new at cashgames, but dont worry i will help u ;)
in cashgames its your money on the table, and because of that you can do watever u want with your money. In this case the amatuer and phil agreed to "run in 4 times" this means they divided the pot in 4 and dealed the turn and river 4 times for each of the 4 pots on the table.
@Shinigale Thanks for clearing that up... I didn't know you can manipulate the game like that, even in cash games. Kind of strange, but I guess that's how it is.
As much as I dislike Phil, how was that a slowroll?? It may have been misleading, but is that not what you always want to do? Make it so that they DON'T know you have a huge hand. Anyways, Ioved the outcome, haha "Run it 4 times to give you a chance" lol You can almost see Phil vomit in his mouth when he saw the flush come out.
Nothing makes a bunch of seasoned pros act like giddy school girls faster than that asshole Phil getting owned. No one respects him, not even his peers.
phil hellmuth is the third best pokerplayer of all times with 10 millions won, what this video shows is how poker is still a game of luck. hellmuth IS professional and he did NOTHING wrong. Tony G is jsut a guys who can only have sex by going to prostitues
Hellmuth actually shows and has class.. ok so he rages here and there.. but I would too. He gets in the worst beats possible. Woudl you not get ticked off if you just lost thousands on a hand? Get real people. Money makes the world go round.
@scoobyj2002 i know eh. he was just being nice too and won the first hand. kinda sucks when your being nice and fucks you over. I never seen him look soo speechless he kinda blows up. I think this is a video he never watches
the black guy thinks hes invincible with pkt kings, and acting all uppity n shit. i laughed how his brain blew a fuse when phil said he had three 9's. 'YOU LYIN YOU KIDDIN ME!"
The black guy is a clown, everyone else is only ragging on Phil (who I usually hate) because making clowns feel good and making sharks feel like shit is a huge part of poker.
what kind of "bad play" in his opinion was tony g referring to? is going all in with goddamn trips a bad move to him? or did he refer to hellmuth letting it run 4 times? or calling pre-flop with A9?
@taquachemalandrin In the case shown it means you turn over the Turn and River card 4 times and the winner of each board will take 25% of the total pot. It lowers the luck involved in a big pot (although it didn't really work out that way here).
It means the cards from the point when the players went all in will be dealt several times, as if they played it so many times, except the flop stays the same, there is no betting and the dealt cards don't go back into the deck.
So in this case they agreed to run it 4 times. The flop stays as it is, the dealer then proceeds as if it was a normal hand - deals the turn and river, then puts those cards aside, deals turn and river again and so on (4 times total).
In this case Wiggins won 3 of those deals, so 3/4 of the pot goes to him, the remaining 1/4 to Helmuth.
It is done to reduce the variance - some players don't want to risk losing the entire pot on a bad beat (if they're the favourite) and it's much less likely to receive 3 bad beats out of 4 times. Although, as we just saw, it's still possible ;)
If you think Hellmuth was slowrolling then you don't understand poker because poker is about people and tendancies. He was seriously affraid of the guy having 10's full. none of us have ever made decisions for that kind of money. If you've seen even a portion of the huge hands he's laid down and the other hands he's been just second best then you'd understand what he was thinking but you are only worried about the cards you're holding and not what the other person has. that's why he's better.
@macchef01 yeah he's afraid of tens full but he's never folding this hand anyway. He's just making the speech like everyone else does so that they can say "I knew it" when they call and are beat.
@macchef01 I know he wasn't actually beat, but by making the speech that he did he gets to call out "I knew it damn I should've folded and trusted my instincts", the 1/15 times the guy actually has tens full. The fact is that yes, there is a chance that he's beat but with a hand as strong as he has, nothing short of the guy turning Ten's full face up by accident is going to cause helmuth to fold his hand. It wasn't technically a slowroll but if you will never fold your hand, it might as well be.
I really don't think he was affraid of TT (althought it's Phil Helmuth - you never know). But I agree it wasn't a slowroll. Slowroll is when there's no more betting, there's a showdown and you stall with showing the winning hand. What Phil did was 'hollywooding' to get the opponent to call, which is a valid tactics and, although it usually looks silly, there's nothing wrong with that.
Hellmuth deserves everyone's respect and is why most are even watching this video. He's one of the best players ever based on WSOP bracelets and didn't have to offer the multiple flops in this hand..but he did.
thats the greatest thing ever. phil is supposed to be the "best in the world" pro player and he does that? he goes ballistic over amateur players outplaying him square and he has the nerve to do this? real classy phil.
Since he asked if he had aces or kings I guess it was a slow roll. If I had a hand like Phil's I would know I would have top kicker but maybe been worried about being up against a fullboat since the board was paired.
hellmuth is possibly the worst poker player ive ever watched..he makes terrible calls and whenver he does something wrong its the other persons fault..wiggins deserved tht hand hellmuth was a donk for going in with A9 in the first place
@MrMuzcas You can't be talking about this situation, because Phil was WRONG. Even though I would agree with his reasoning, I still think his whole hemming and hawing was in poor taste, and he deserved it. Especially considering he often berates others for supposed slowrolls.
phil was actually a pretty cool guy, here.....lol. did i just say that? no slow roll. also, wiggins a fish.

poker is a 90% game of luck . this vid is an example. you have around 10 percent to fold or bet but at all you need luck.

@Shadowsurfer78
if you think poker is 90 percent luck you don't know how to win at poker.

AhYaOk 3 months ago
Since he asked if he had aces or kings I guess it was a slow roll. If I had a hand like Phil's I would know I would have top kicker but maybe been worried about being up against a fullboat since the board was paired.

negreanu "why is everyone so happy, except phil!?" classic

When i saw this first season I thought; how did this guy qualify for being a loose canon. Then I saw this hand, and it made alot more sense.

Tony G is a fucking Retard... i hate him..
MrMuzcas 4 months ago
@MrMuzcas You can't be talking about this situation, because Phil was WRONG. Even though I would agree with his reasoning, I still think his whole hemming and hawing was in poor taste, and he deserved it. Especially considering he often berates others for supposed slowrolls.
