Thing cranked dude! I read that the pro's say these cars do 60 in like 8 seconds and as the owner of an '04 myself I knew that was bullshit. You did 7 seconds easy, probably a little faster actually. I think my stock '04 is about on par, thanks in part to the 3.55 gears.
Keep doing this and you'll ruin your car.. This are built like tanks but it's not a good idea to make them do this. Plus driving that fast and taping is very dangerous...
Very good acceleration for such a large & heavy car. Sounds good too! I always thought that the Crown Vics with the police package topped off at around 150 or so for highway chases. I saw a police chase one time where they were following a Corvette doing 160, and those police cars were keeping up pretty good. I'm guessing the police cars in the vid had to have been specially modified for highway pursuits.
@uknowwatimsayin no its the same as a civilian crown vic ...the shift points and ring n pinion are better and the governor is set at 130mph but thats it....lol...people think there is some magic "police chip" in the car but its not...in fact with the mods i have done with my sct tuner i will kill any cop car in my home made interceptor .....
Damn this really wants to make me get a black p71. Couple of questions; have you heard about the Jmod and if you have what do you think of it? Also did you stop in time for the stop sign?
@tytig94 I actually have a jmod now. I uploaded the video on youtube. It's the best thing I ever did for my car. There was no stop sign. I was just stopping to show there was no brake fade.
@TheAndrey This is an '03 so when it was new it only had 239HP, but it's totally stock with a lot more miles so it's probably a little less. It routinely runs 0-60 in 6.5-7 seconds. Just how it is.
@Derryodell1990 I did a J-Mod. Best thing ever. I'm probably just gonna get a tune, I drive it everyday so I want to keep it mostly stock, but we will see.
Ford LTDs and Ford Crown Victorias are the most durable, reliable, safest, and most easily maintained sedans built in history.
Can drop a Ford Siamese big block V8 bored and stroked to 540CID and twin turbo'd for even more power, but there d.mned good stock, anyway. The 4.6L, 281CID, in slightly different 4.7L, 289CID twin turbo form is used in the Swedish supercar Koenigsegg for 244smph top end.
One weak point in 4.6L is composite intake manifold
@mitch9521 it doesn't really matter....the only thing that matters is the emergency lighting and siren which must be removed, and it must look as plain as daylight
great vid! Yup, about 135 mph is what P71 crown vics are limited at. Moves out pretty well with surprisingly strong brakes. Im surprised you didnt lose control while putting your foot down on brakes at 120mph!!!!
i own a 2002 crown vic p71 and it accelerates faster the 03 had alot of recalls but your car is nice though. put a super chip programmer and you can do 145 i did
@blazzing4321: I was about to say the same thing! I'm betting a chunk of it is gearing, but this begins to encroach upon the legendary territory of the late 60s, early 70s police cruisers. Man, and only 280 cubes too? That modular four-six really scoots for such a small mill!
@carproof1 the juke is amazing.. even though it can't tow. I won't be getting the 4 wheel drive version as much as i'd like it, I live in canada and we arn't doing to bad with my local dealership. But i don't plan on getting one this year or within the next 3 years. Still need to pay off this civic still, had to buy it because my old civic got smooshed. Hopfully nissan has it in 4 wheel drive stick shift by the time i can get it, and still sell it in that hot blue! 2014 Nissan Juke SL with Navi!
@carproof1 you've inspired me, I will make a new 0 - 100km/h video in a few days acellerating onto the highway onramp. See how slow it looks on youtube, feels fast to me. Wish i had analog guages though the digital speedo sucks.. Hopfully get a Nissan Juke 5 speed eventually. Bet thats quicker then this ol'vic 180HP 177LB/FT torque 1.6L Turbocharged Engine. Woot!
@AutoJunkieMan I actually work at a Nissan dealership. I've driven a Juke a few times, did a nice four wheel burnout in an automatic :) The Jukes are very fast for what they are. Again, not a comparison to the Vic since it is a large sedan versus a compact crossover. The Jukes are on backorder for a couple of months so it might be a while before you can get one.
@carproof1 that video wasnt made to show accelleration was just me pissing around in traffic. I was actually in rush hour traffic when i made that video. Some days you hit the acellerator just right shes a rocket. But being automatic dont have as much control over the throttle responce.
@carproof1 well.. Its not the only vehicle in the world that can carry that much weight. Its pretty huge waste of gas and materials. Yeah crown vics are awsome. But the new ford taurus with the v6 TT looks just as capable faster and more fuel efficent. Both great cars, just saying its kind of behind in the car industry. My little basic civic can acellerate faster to 120km/h then this beast.
@AutoJunkieMan for a 4,000+lb sedan capable of carrying a full load of police equipment + 2 large officers + criminals in the back, I think it's pretty decent. I'm not saying it's fast compared to a sports car, but for what it is, it is fast. This video was less than 7 seconds to 60.
@AutoJunkieMan Don't take this offensively it's just an observation, but your Civic video goes from 45-65 in 5.75 and this video only takes 3.75. I'll give you the fact that there was a bit of a delay in your car getting into it's powerband, but it just goes to show that this police car is not "Slow".
This is a tired Ford Modular 235HP motor (designed in 1991) moving 4500lbs on a Panther platform (designed in 1979)... it's really not slow. In fact, it's freakin' fast.
I drive a 2006 myself. There's no way I can drive this thing without a big grin on my face. It's really a unique driving experience throwing around that much weight on such a developed platform. I've had it for about a year and a half and it's still a thrill to drive.
