@dannyhammondorgan Yeah... I love that big, fat Hammond B3 sound... especially when used with a group of this talent!
BTW... for an EXCELLENT Hammond player, check out Barabara Dennerlein. She plays hot chops AND kicks pedals better than a lot of bass players I've heard. It may not be your choice of genre, but you can't deny her technical abilities.
That B3 is OK. Love these guys I shall once again see them in the spring. They should play in other venues near the Keswick in Glenside. The Keswick has cramped seating. You need a chiroprator right after the show for the aching knees. May I suggest the Patriots theater in Trenton I could get 10 people there Just blasted this after the Ravens win over Chiefs.
Michael Jeffries : Lead Vocals , Lenny Pickett : 1st Tener Sax ,Emilio Castillo : 2nd tener sax . Steven Kupka :baritone sax , Mic gillette : trumpet , Greg Adams : trumpet ,Chester Thompson : organ , Bruce Conte : guitar , Victor Conte : bass , Ronnie Beck ; drums . they were the original TP that made this song back in 1978.
I love that the brass section is the feature in the group and how they all stand out. Other groups have their hron sections usually in the background or on the side. Thanks for posting. In the 70's I was a young mom, never had the opportunity to see them in person.
40 years and still blowin!!! Now that's amazing. Caught them last night at a concert with AWB....what can I say...AWESOME!! My fav lead was always Lenny Williams, but wow.... Larry Bragg... DAMN....TOO HOT!
dammmmmb..everybody is a freakin critic. :-( The original song came out in 77' TOP was/is known for their horns. Geeez, you want a lil country & a lil rock and roLL, go listen to Donny & Marie....you sux TowerOfPower #1...Love Susie

Is this whole Montreux concert out on DVD or how's it possible to get it?

The original song is excellent; this updating is less so my a big margin. The fidelity to old Funk was what put the original over. Slower tempo too.

This song really brings out the horns, Rocco on bass, Roger on keyboards, and David on drums. It's tight... TOP's signature.
towerofpowerfan 3 years ago
An underestimated cut from the TOP rep.
I especially like Roccos influence on this, but then again I always like Rocco.

Absolutely great musicians. This version is very different from the classic studio track, and frankly it doesn't show the song in its best light.

This was the opener at TOP Vegas show I saw on 1/13/08. Mercy goodness but they were good... best live act in the business after 40 years!

@las10102 Of course they're one of the best, there's only 3 original bandmembers or so :D But then again... They fire up one hell of a party...
