ok firstly the weapopn is an awesome bit of kit , secondly you dont hold one of those by the magazine .. and you dont prat about on full auto as you cant take an accurate shot with it on full auto .. the 7.62 fal is a fantastic rifle at quite a good safe distance so i think you need to get a sand bag down to rest your elbow on grip the correct part of your gun and get the target set to about 300 metres/ could be feet but think it was metres then take ya time aim it and see the results ....

The FAL was originally designed around 7.62 Kurz, then .280 British (7x43), then when the Americans forced 7.62 NATO upon everyone and set firearms development back several decades, it was upsized for that. Other promising rifles like the EM-2 weren't as easily rechambered, and so were cancelled.

Here's a tip.

The tendency to bring the left hand back into the magazine is a poor one, though natural.

The weight of the weapon (CofG) is forward of the pistol grip and this can make it tiring on the left arm due to forward extension and the absolute need to support the weapon steadily. Hence the tendency to reduce the angle of forearm extension by gripping the rifle at the receiver.

It's a fundamental mistake common with recruits.

....and a bad habit to get into.

Imagine a piece of thread tied to the end of a broom handle and you need to push the thread through the eye of a needle. How would you hold the broom handle to give yourself the best chance? Not with both hands near your end certainly.

You would probably hold it with one hand supporting the weight and the other as close to the thread end as possible....so you could control the thread as finely as possible.

Now think of the broom handle as a rifle...and the thread as the aim.

I shoot one in the the fall and win ter mostly cause of fire season, it's excellent,very very accurate I love it cause I can use it for so many things(if the time arose) like snipping or holding off enemy at quite a distance, I have my best scope on it so its hard to miss, the only thing is if I let 4 rounds slip real quick it fail to eject the shot round,jamming it sometimes. My hk-91 shoots about the same size round and never jams. Some people say their old but I take great care cleaning after

@DystruktoBoi1 The military rounds have thicker cases to be more rugged and stand up to battlefield conditions + full-auto cycling. The thicker cases mean there is less capacity inside for powder, thus the military rounds are (or can be) weaker than civilian rounds, but not vice versa. So 7.62 can be fired in .308, but not the other way around. Of course this is a theoretical safety measure; in practice, the two are interchangeable, except firing the .308 in a 7.62 *might* fatigue the breech.
