*sigh* compare, compare... Robert Downey is America's version of Sherlock. Benedict is UK's version of Sherlock. Both are damn good, great, AWESOME at it. NEITHER can match Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Reading the book is 1000 times better.

Guys can we just accept that both Robert Downey Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch do fantastic jobs of portraying a character in two VERY different settings?? They are showing two different sides of the character. And Watson is very different, also. You just can't compare them. Just enjoy them as they are and listen to the awesome music! I think RDJ plays a different Holmes, not necessarily better or worse: just a different type. I like RDJ for his zest and the fun he has fooling around. I enjoy B. Cumberbatch for his sociopathic, analytical, geeky approach. I think, though, they are better suited for their respective audiences.

Robert Downey Jr is the best movie Sherlock Homles. And Benedict Cumberbatch is the best TV Sherlock Holmes :) <3 I love them both. Cumberbatch is slightly better though ;D

@NataliexK i found the series was better than the Game of shadows mostly becasue I felt the movie was more like sherlock being an action hero rather than a detective. i also feel that Benedict can make a good victorian sherlock bur robert downey won't fit in a modern sherlock.. anyways, i love both.

@rowancboi17 to say one is better than the other I think is narrow minded. They're two different takes. Both actors did a brilliant job with their portrayals bringing a new original twist to the character. I could also say that James Roday's take of a sherlockian character as Shawn Spencer (he is an Americanized Sherlock Holmes in the show Psych) is better than both of them due to his humorous and charming take of that kind of role, but I would be doing the exact same thing. They're all good.

@Leiriko I dont mind as a conan doyl fan differences. These series are a lot different but the way they are structured feels like Sherlock Holmes. The deductions the environment the dialogues all of them are new yet at the same time weirdly fitting. I liked the first film but the latter film wasnt that good felt more like James Bond movie. And both films in my eyes cannot match these series which I consider one of the best adaptions I have seen.

@Afereth Its funny that you say you preferred the first film. Nearly everyone I've ever met and any review I've ever read stated a preference for the latter. The first one didn't show anything resembling the process of Sherlock's deductions, something this show does and a real basis of the thrill. I've yet to see GoS but the first Sherlock film only showed deduction when he was serenading the flies or fighting. What else was there that you found so appealing?
