"online" means, that you can play or chat with other people around the globe via the internet. So if you use the Wi-Fi feature of DKR DS to play with other people, then you play online.
My brother came close to beating this time. He refuses to use T.T so he always uses Diddy. He got like 1'32"36. I also refuse to use T.T and so I use Tip Tup. So I shave off time by cutting corners. I wish there was Donkey kong.
There is one standard ghost (you have to beat that ghost on all tracks to receive T.T., the clock, as a playable character). And the rest are my own ghosts from previous attempts. I think you can have up to 3 of your own ghosts.

Yeah, I'm not online very often, because I have not much time (because of university).
And the T.T. question: yes, you have to beat him in every vehicle. So on Ancient Lake you have to beat him with car, hover and plane, etc.

For car I used Taj. And for hover & plane I used Bumper.
But as long as you use the "Air B" vehicle upgrade, you shouldn't have that much trouble to beat TT with any character.
