  • What is better to run Pro Tools on (or just to produce tracks) Windows or Mac

  • @twixx754 mac tottaly mac

  • @TheFilmCreator1 thanks for the reaction

  • @twixx754 i use a pc and have no latency issues what so ever.

  • @ElectricArms Stil thinkin about it, hard to make a choice, thank you for the respond

  • Hey man your videos are awesome. Thanks for all the help. I recently bought the pre-sonus usb box, not this one you are showing but the other one. The problem is that I usually get a "shhhh-like" kind of sound like a background noise. I usually take some of it out from sonar 8 but it doesn't work completely. Do you know how to make this noise kind of disapear?

  • @TheLCello You will get a "SHHHH" noise. That's white noise, and as he said, you can tell the microphone is armed. You won't hear it in your tracks. You can either, turn your mic down, or get a noise gate. That way, your mic isn't picking up that shhh because it below a certain decibel. Basically, it will cancel the noise, once you speak on the mic, that's when it will pick up.

  • He's got it on tape inside he's hard drive XD just kidding

  • hello im tryn record on a audio track and it is giving me alot of air coming out of my audio track can you tell me ways that i could get rid off that air in the back ground,

  • What a RETARD !!! Expervillage is worst shit ever published in UNIVERSE.

  • Nunca falta el idiota que minimiza los aportes.

  • Sir, i have a question, a bit out of this video.. first, sorry about my english... im spanish.

Can i sequence my own patterns of a drum machine (lets say alesis sr16 which i have at home) in a midi pro tools track? like making my own drum patterns for my own songs? and how would that drum machine be connected? i will have the digi003 rack+ in a week and im a bit lost about midi setups and connections.

    Thanks a lot!

  • i know i have a internal sequencer in the alesis, but i think is muuuuuuuuuuuuch more easier in a midi track composer

  • @moldiscoerata I agree. I have a sequencer in my Korg, and it's great and all, but I also find it WAY easier and intuitive working with/creating sequences in something like PT.

  • great material for beginners...

  • whats up fam? do u know how 2 nudge on a pc? in protools 8 m-powered

  • can u use pro tools on any lap top or do you need a mac pc.

  • @bukkiahimpalass It runs on windows or mac. You need the appropriate OS software.

  • this was good i am a beginner so thanks!

  • Ok so i have an mbox with protools le and cant freaking figure out how to set up a track to record vocals. I am not sure what i am doing wrong but i cant hear anything from my mic. any ideas?

  • @JFM515905 Go to track at the top, and create a new mono track. Then go to the I/O (ins and outs) on the track in the mixer and make sure the input is set to the one the mic is plugged into on the interface. Also be sure the mic/line button is set to whatever kind of input the mic is (mic for xlr, and line for 1/4 inch) arm the track and use the trim nob on the interface.

  • mmmm thats wonderful.. i have a good voice

  • mmmm thats wonderful.. i have a good voice

  • This is uber basic

  • lol whoever wrote the subtitles for this kept calling the M-box an "inbox"

  • @AlchemyInLove ya i was just gonna say that lmao

  • KVR is best place to get plugins (VSTs). There are a lot of good free ones.

  • does anyone know a way to download extra plugins for pro tools 8 for free?

  • @DaimonRSE if you find out how to get those plugins plz let me knwo i have protools essential 8 plz help

  • Perhaps Free VSTs. They have some decent VSTs/RTAs. The best thing to do is google "FREE VSTs/RTAs" or so. You should find okay to good ones from different sites. Sometimes sites have promos and things so you can catch a great free one or so. GL

  • @DaimonRSE There is a free package by blue cat audio, google that. Oh and the plugins are RTAS so they work on pro tools.

  • i still cant record right ugh

  • @8MINO8 i feel ur pain its hard aving good quality

  • haha. did he just say.."mmm... i have a good voice"

  • @hayitsu1978 No, he said 1:16 "mmm, that's wonderful..I have a good voice" haha still funny. I cracked up when he said that then saw your comment.

  • @hayitsu1978 omg i hope not.. lol.

  • u gotta make sure its in record mode and go to the mix window and go to your i/o and make sure your comin in to the same input your mic is hooked up too

  • I hooked up the mbox and mic and when i create a track and click record I can't hear anything. The sound indicator isn't moving either. It's recieving phantom power and everything but still no sound. Input 1 on the mbox is blinking whenever there is sound though....How do I fix this?

  • How Can i Get Protools 4 Free,I Had It On My Mac,But It Broke,And I Need 2 Get Pro Tools Quick..Help Plzz..Thanks

  • You can't. Digidesign uses quite a few measures to prevent people form doing that with pro tools 8.

  • i think that you can download it in torrents and stuff but what happens is that pro tools works only with digidesign interfaces...

  • @kutboy borrow it from someone else

  • @chiodos82 I Tryed But It Wont Let Me Put It On My PC

  • @kutboy hmm u downloaded the windows version right? not the mac?

  • @chiodos82 Yea I DId,I Dont Have A Mac Any More

  • can someone help me when i record in protool i can hear the vocal while the record button is on how do i fix it so i can follow along and punch in when i want to

  • If you are using an MBox it is your mix knob.

  • @cameronCLAM thanks

  • You need to switch to auto input monitor. I believe its in the operations menu.

  • You are all retarded

  • Totally agree

  • i just downloaded protools and for some reason when i get ready to record this horrible clicking sound comes out of my speakers. i cant get it to go away and im pretty pissed. i have a pc now, and im guessing its the computer giving me issues. can someone please help?

  • mute/delete the track named "click" (i guess)

thats the metronome, just to label it...

  • go in to track or operation take of the click track that what causeing it to click the click track is on

  • Is it consistent or is it random. Could be a clocking issue. What interface are you using?

  • i have protools 7 m powered, can i make beats on it?

  • Yes. If you have the right software instruments.

  • Nice job man. Man that was great!

I'm just looking to record over hip hop beats. Do you know any easy to use program for recording vocals over a beat thats not like audacity where u can edit and such? Somethin more professional perhaps.

  • what device is that?

  • Mbox 2.

  • this fool is crazy, man

  • as i am preparing to record vocals in my pro tools 8 le, i can hear my voice doubled as i turn up the mix knob. this is very annoying. is there a way i can turn up the music in the mix without hearing my voice doubled as I record my vocal?

  • @sonuvman Basically you have it set so that the latency is too slow. You need the sound to come back very fast so that you don't hear the doubling but this uses a bit more CPU. Go into pro tools, click 'setup' and then click on the part that says 'Playback engine". Have a fiddle with these (they recommend which to use) and see how that goes. ALso with anything like this, check your manuals because this is in them.

  • How do I record multiple track at the same time? When I try to record on a new track it just don't record. help pleaseeee.

  • but what about when no activity shows up on the screen?

  • like what?.... the program doesn't run?....or the leds do not show activity?..

  • I have pro tools 7

  • Hey Im trying to record my overdubs on a third track.... but when I press record I get no mic levels... I here the problem is my input and output... How do I get levels?

  • ir u'r using the same input as the 1st and 2nd track, check whether ur inputs are set to the correct channel.. and arm ur track.. shud do the deal..

  • didnt know that about the mix knob.. Thanks!!!

  • Which way do you turn the knob to hear what's comming out of the headphones and not the track?

  • What is the knob called that I turn up to set my recording level?

What are good studio Monitors and if they have a site what is the site to check out?

  • i thought the same thing when he said that haha but its all good atleast his vids are good iv laughed at myself on some vids to cuz u dont plan everything your gonna say which is cool like me as an artist i just be myself but when im doin a beat making vid or somethin its kinda hard for me to not like be thinkin of what im gonna say and it comes out weird haha. well a lot basic for me, but i guess thats what this one is supposed to be so good job.

  • 'humm... thats wonderfull.. ok i have a good voice'. HAHAHAHAH

  • any opinions about sound quality of presonus vs. say mbox and digi? particularly w/ the built in preamps? also, would the quality of the built in preamps affect the sound of a stand-alone pre that was connected to it, or does it connect some other way? -confused- :S. im new to this. any advice would be appreciated.

  • i have a m-audio fasttrack ultra, pro tools 7.3 with an 8 upgrade, a mac powerbook g4 w 2 ram. ican't get my mac to recognize my interface can anyone help me?

  • you have to get an m-box......it's the only digital audio interface that is recognized in pro tools i think

  • thanks for your help, but my interface a m-audio fasttrack ultra is made for made for pro- tools

  • You need to to get Protools M-Powered. It's for the M-Audio interfaces

  • try getting a new son? just kidding!

have you checked the configuration of the box in the pc?

  • why can't i hear sound thru my alexis monitors? no sound at all. somebody upload a video on how to set up digidesign from start.

  • @nejosocabron Or you could read the manual and watch the dvd that comes with it?

  • good videos. one question. Can i upgrade my pro tools le 6.7 to newer version . I have mbox not mbox2

    great tutorials . thanxs

  • I think I would be more concerned about the voice bleed back through the mic while your recording and not so much the feedback... lol

    Rob

  • u should explain difference between pre fader and post fader metering in pro tools.cheapy chip Pro tool 8 beta tester

  • Nice vids by the way. I wish I would have had something like this when I was first starting out years ago.

  • Hey Mr. Know it all HardbodyTroof, these are great vids for beginners. Key word 'beginners'. How about YOU make some that 'up a few notches'.

  • Could you explain comb filtering or Pulse-Code Modulation?

  • @CharlieGnarley you gotta pay for those kinda lessons...sad to say.

  • What is that box called where you adjust the levels and you plug in the mic and headphones? Great tutorial!!

  • An Interface

  • That's the Mbox from Digidesign. Used specifically and only for Pro Tools.

  • Plain and simple language...I like that!

  • My inputs are turn to the lowest my microphones are like 4 feet away, yet istill hit red like every 5 snare hits. What do I do?

  • put a compressor on that mic on the way in.

  • This is great sir..very, very helpful.

  • hi, could some one let me know how to take the sound from the moniters when i record cause i'am able to hear the music thru the headphones & moniters how can i disable that.

  • What system and outboard gear are you using?

  • well i have protools i think is 6.4 or 6.7 le model is not the new interface is the old one the that stands.

  • Don't know then, never used it.

  • yo im suppose to be gettin pro tools to record my music...but sumbody told me u need other stuff to operate it..dat costs thousands of dollas lol dats true?

  • I guess that depends on what you have for a computer. Pro tools uses the computers processing power. You will require a fast computer and lots of ram to maximize track count, plug in power and as of 7.4 PT elastic audio.

You also need a interface with mic inputs and A to D converters

Pro Tools will only work on digi design or M Audio interfaces try a M box there cheap.

  • Don't know if you still have the MBOX 1, but if so you can do 1 of 2 things. Pull the lines to the speakers out from the back of the MBox 1 or get your self an out board controller like the Mackie Big Knob (300$) to control Speaker levels.

  • cool
