yea, the M15x and M17x would be more like mobile desktops than actual notebooks, the M15x is quite heavy so I would at least consider it a good desktop replacement, however, if money is no option, get the M17x.

received my new M15x one week ago, after 2 days windows didnt boot anymore (might have been some bad software i installed :S )

reinstalled windows7 (my lights still worked then) and when i installed alienware command center my lights stopped working! really have no clue about what to do, think i have to send it back for repairs...

accept for the broken lights now, i think this laptop is awesome...

That pop up from Microsoft is because you require Administrator rights to run that piece of software... something you generally don't have to mess with unless you have to work with legacy stuff that needs admin permissions

@Cueil Actually i have had one for about 2weeks, and the temprature stays rather cool. I have read that the previous version used to get hot, but i think the new chassis has solved that.

Exactly. Everyone knocks alienware because it's price. Sure you can buy a laptop with the same specs at a cheaper cost but the build quality like how there's no flex in the body itself is worth the money. And yes. GET A JOB.

@ikcti Pricing is not that bad. I did some extensive research before i got mine (M17x) nothing that i found came close to the power that i got in my Alienware. Since Dell bought them out they have gotten a lot better and the pricing is fair when comparing to other gaming computers on the market today. Now i know the pricing is still high but when compared to other ones on the market. nothing can touch alienware and if you do the Dell financial planning the payments a month are not that bad.
