After pitching the yeast and before I place the airlock on, I like to swab the neck of my carboy with a q-tip soaked in grain alcohol, and I accidentally dropped it in! She laughed, I fretted. I got it out and the beer was just fine, amazing in fact. I fret too much.

Aack! Hotside aeration! Be sure to use a hose from the mash tun to the bottom of the brewkettle! No splashing when the wort is hot!
The only time you should use this splashing method is when filling the fermenter.

I think this is a contested subject.
I'm not going to be worrying about it, I'm making fine beer with all the right flavours and NO off tastes :)
Air does not dissolve in 70+C wort very well!
