Since the ipod touch has internet, it is possible to make phone calls if you're connected to WIFI (have a mic, and way to listen---ie. speaker or headphones), which is exactly what you just watched me do in this video above.

actually, you dont anymore.
You can buy applications that are similar to this one to use the VoIP feature (From APP STORE).
But if you want Siphon, which I would argue is the best VoIP applications for iphon/ipod touch, then yes you need to perform a jailbreak.

I guess you have never heard of VoIP.
Maybe your smart little brain can type V-O-I-P in google and see that you can make phone calls over the INTERNET. NO SIM CARD required.
Since the ipod touch has internet, it is possible to make phone calls if you're connected to WIFI (have a mic, and way to listen---ie. speaker or headphones), which is exactly what you just watched me do in this video above.

a phone like your talking about would last maybe a year, if you're lucky, with no updates. Then you would have to get another because you still have a year left on your contract.
Ive had my ipod for quite awhile, and it has had a lot of updates. If I ever lost it or anything I wouldnt have a contract to continue, not with VoIP.
I also see where your coming from.
I would advocate a pre paid phone. That way you cant be tracked by the Govt by GPS lol.

Are you referring to Voicemail?
If you're referring to "touch dial" like tapping on a name and number in your address book, then that is possible. I just dont show it here with this program.
You need Siphon for that, not Sip VoIP shown here.

What I Mean Is, For Example, Say I Need To Check My Bank Account Balance Over The Phone, And I Have To Use An Automated Answering System To Inquire My Balance...When they Ask Me To Press 1 to continue I can't because the buttons are not there anymore....They disapear as soon as I start the phone call...

You can push any number on the keyboard with Siphon.app.
Its available for 1.1.x or 2.2

a $25 flip phone with a $15 plan isnt going to have internet, email, music, Download TORRENTS, music and movies, file conversions, access to system files, ability to record audio in high quality(and control it-its called Touchstudio), Ebooks, instrument synthesizers, to mention a few.
I dont know about you, but I dont like contracts. Thats why VoIP is great.
A pocket computer with VoIP and all that other shit blows a $25 dollar phone out of the water.

It only works with the Sip VoIP program which only works on 1.1.x firmware.

This sounds like a sarcastic question your posing for me.
If you have an iphone, why the hell would you want to turn it into a phone?
However, yes VoIP does work on the iphone and it saves you a lot more money when wifi is available.
