    It gave me chills. :)

    Thanks.

  • You're welcome, TheMonadaII-san!!

    Otaku3 (^o^)/

  • I buy This disc in ¨77 And it become my main jazz disc( i ´m a bassplayer) How to learn bass line

  • I miss the lonely thoughts running through my head.... picturing myself dancing slow with my girl to this song.... This is real music....

  • I do, he has a mute, Miles Davis often played with mutes; Keep in mind Trumpet mutes DO NOT mute the trumpet, it changes the tone......

  • Why does Miles trumpet have a different sound than everyone elses trumpet. What did he do to the trumpet itself, or did he manipulate it in some other way. Just asking, not a music pro, just that his trumpet has an identifiable sound that no other has to my ears. Does anyone know what he did to the trumpet?

  • so good

  • Back when music was music! Lovin' it!

  • This is such a timeless gem... words can't never describe this beautiful piece.......

    God is good.. xx

  • miles davis' tone was absolutely superb. the trumpet almost sounds like it's crying

  • best version ever!

  • レッド・ガーランド様、貴方のこのイントロだけで全てのジャズを飲み込む!~最良の"MY FUNNY VALENTINE" by MilesDavis

  • こんばんわblackandtanfulさん、コメントをありがとうございます!

    このセッションにおけるガーランドはイントロからバッキング、自身のソロに至るまで好プレイの連続ですね。

  • He's the best of the best when it comes to jazz..

Anything with his jazz please upload .. I have a great deal of cd's of his and downloads from ipod..but cannot get enough..I'm surprised I never had this one.. great stuff!! Perfect for a Sunday afternoon..

  • that piano intro is one of my favourite moments in music, period.

  • Now this is real music - aaaahhh - perfectly perfect!

  • i love this song...

  • it says "quintet" so your line up is missing one... '-)

  • No, this was played by the quartet essentially.

    ...Otaku3

  • @60otaku3 Trane played on all the tracks of the album apart from this one.

  • Yes, I know it.

And it is obvious that this is not a performance of the quintet.

  • 5 People Have Their Ears Up Their Asses...

  • There is no accounting for tastes.

Please do not mind bad ratings.

    ...Otaku3

  • @60otaku3 You're right, sorry, my bad...

  • Ahhh...Miles davis, what a sound !...perfect to just close your eyes and slow dance with your dream.....by auburn_jack

  • Incredible feel on this song. Happy Valentines Day!

  • uh this is the quintet not the quartet

  • Because Coltrane only plays the sax a little in ending, this is the quartet substantially.

    Otaku3 (^_^)b

  • @60otaku3

coltrane doesn't play at all on this take, at the ending or anywhere. this is strictly a quartet take.

this is the last song the group recorded during this session (october 26th). perhaps coltrane had already left the studio or perhaps he was still there, just watching, i don't know. but he doesn't play.

  • Thanks edesnerdshack-san!!

You are quite correct in thinking so.

I seem to have mistaken about it somehow or other.

    I am sorry...

    Otaku3 (^_^;)

  • How could 5 people not like this?

  • Anyone cannot know that reason.

There is no accounting for tastes.

Please do not mind bad ratings.

  • @jward199 / cuz their sick !!!! lol !!

  • 150 people didn't agree this is a wonderful song

  • They all play so light: Red Garland, Paul Chambers... Effortless.

  • @BuckshotLaFunke Agreed, I love the subtlety of the music back then. It must have been great to have seen this band in an intimate club setting.

  • one of my favorite piano solos, wish I could solo like that

  • Thank you very much. This version is my favorire version of one of my most favorite songs in the world.

  • You're very welcome, taino20-san!!

    Otaku3 (*^o^)/

  • Hey im 19 and i fell like ive been born in the wrong era because i feel like i could go over this song over and over again without singing to the lyrics or giving a damn about anything XD

  • Sorry but, Miles has nothing on Chet.

  • @ArmchairOccultist

    Chet Could Sing.

  • @Ghtthomps I don't know how to respond to that one amigo, because Chet could not sing-- he was a terrible singer. If you were being sarcastic, I'm not sure how relevant that was.

  • @ArmchairOccultist

I'll put it this way. Compared to Chet, Miles could not sing. He would sing through his horn.( Blue in Green). Miles did not sing openly. We both know why.

  • I play this for my newborn son before, during, and after feeding.....He becomes still with his eyes wide open.....I'm pretty sure he loves it!!!! Thank you Miles Davis Quartet.

  • @gregflores1012 quintet

  • Cool cats like cool jazz.

  • After Bobby Timmons's version this one is the coolest.

  • The 3 people who didn't like this did it accidentally and didn't know how to like it so they ran away. :) MAjor props to the uploader yo

  • T_T

  • A classic, for posterity. It hits you to the core.

  • ohhhh dahahahahamn i just give 500 stars just for the first minute of this song ...

  • Great Upload. Love this song!

  • Thank you, jaydem303-san!!

  • touches my soul damn powerful music

  • I'd recognize that gorgeous piano intro anywhere. I promise my combo and I will bring jazz music back! It's a shame my generation doesn't listen to jazz anymore.

  • this is just wonderful...

  • this is sexy

  • This is how God would play the trumpet

  • @jceap1 He's got nothing on Davis. In fact, if I think there was a musical pantheon. Miles would be the god of Blues.

  • @bazookoidben u mean god of jazz ...

  • j'aim beaucoup!!!! :)

  • 5 stars for some great music

  • Thanks for your rating, YoArma-san!!

    Otaku3 (*^_^)b

  • Damn why they dont make this stuff anymore

    Truely wonderfull

  • I think that the reason is because other jazz musicians cannot play better than this great quintet.

    Otaku3 (^_^)b

  • @noplayer110 Chris Botti

  • one of the best piano solos i've ever listen. 5 stars to Red Garland for his touch, timing, feeling, blues and bop ideas

  • Thanks for rating 5 stars for Red Garland, galfredos-san!!

  • Very nice song ♫

  • piano brilliance indeed

  • allantibbitt-san,

I think that your high tone voice is attractive enough but here please do not invite to the video which you're singing.

  • caramelo55,

You posted the same comment for inviting to your channel again, ignored my advice.

As your channel's propaganda, I cannot recognize it.

I block you after having deleted all of your comments.

    60otaku3

  • soo cool.

  • what are the first two chords? and then the chords leading to the first Theme?

  • Do not you know the head arrangement?

I think it arranged by Miles the part of the beginning (or the end).

    Otaku3 (^_^;)

  • yeah seems to be Bb and Eb.. not sure if the last two chords are Dminor7b5 and G7b9

  • miles has probably the most intiment approaches to ballads. so beautiful.

  • Absolutly chilling..arm hairs standing up on ends...tingles..this song makes beautiful seem like an unfit word.. Perfect version..

  • perfect !!!

  • best version ever :)

  • oh my gosh- beautiful, brings back memories x

  • brings me coold chill evry time i hear this

  • Cool, Red Garland quotes Percy Grainger's "Country Gardens" in the into just like Charlie Parker does during "Loverman". Both start out in the relative minor and in the major key.

  • where can i find the version by Milt Jackson?

  • Miles played it and Chet Baker sang it best! Thanks for putting this up. - DF loves it to.

  • You're welcome, ManagerGuy1-san!!

    Otaku3 d(^_^)b

  • Actually, I'd have to argue that. While Chet Baker singing on this song was out of this world, I really must say that Mile's "singing" is on a completely different level. Still, both versions are beautiful, and enjoying them is what really matters, right?

  • Miles style is so intimate and revealing. the way he plays with so much space is so lyrical and lullaby-like during this period of his life.

  • MILES DAVISMILES DAVISMILES DAVIS

  • so smooth... :)

  • Check out the live version from '58 with Bill Evans from the "Jazz at the Plaza" album. Beautiful lyricism from Miles and Bill.

  • Thank you, impala327-san!!

    I also like that version.

    Otaku3 (*^_^)b

  • fan daby dabulous

  • I recently saw Joe DeFrancesco (sp) in concert & he said that young musicians should all buy a certain four Miles Davis reccords... but I could only remember "Cookin" & he said they came in a set... anyone know what other three records are in the set? If you do please reply. Thanks! Btw this song is spectacular.

  • You're welcome, Webbierostrich-san!!

Four album titles by the Miles Davis Quintet are "Relaxin'", "Workin'", "Steamin'" and "Cookin'".

They finished recording in only two days (May 11, 1956 and October 26, 1956) these masterpieces.

    Otaku3 d(^_^)b

  • miles davis is awsome

  • I think I'm going to dust off my vinyl right now. :)

  • I hope you enjoy the vinyl LP by this quintet wholeheartedly.

    Otaku3 (^_^)b

  • def one of the tightest jazz tunes ive heard. love this song, just touches the soul.

  • oh, I have this on vinyl.. since I was a teenager.. just hopin'.

  • any chance of "blues by 5"?

  • Please buy this CD and listen to the tune that you want!

    Otaku3 (^_^;)
